HA! It turns out, that an app that I've never used before, became active during a time that I was multitasking and didn't realize it. I didn't notice the effects right away, because my main desktop has a special 3D desktop generator called, bumptop, which covers over any other desktop color or graphic in that area. So it wasn't until I swiped to go to a different desktop, that I noticed the random slideshow being displayed. All fixed now. What a relief.

I updated to iOS 7.0.2 and cannot open purchased books not yet downloaded

At first I couldn't purchase the book using the iBooks app, then I purchased it on my computer and tried to download it to my phone. It looks like its downloading but then it never actually does and every time i try to open it, it just tries to download again. Its not the book or the file because I tried it out on another book that I had already purchased I had the same problem. Books that I had already downloaded on the old iOS work, just not new ones. Any ideas? Its pretty annoying to buy a book and then not be able to read it

try a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
You can also try - settings - general - reset - reset network settings.

Reset the device did not help me but it does triggers me to attempt to resend the PDF file attachment on email--and it works the 2nd time. My problem is now solved.
The Adobe Reader is very helpful--it allows me to scroll through the document easily, unlike iBooks, where I cannot scroll straight up or down.

However, ever since that time I have had some problems with the wifi. I do not have the range I once had? For example I can walk out of the room that my verizon jetpack is in and loose connection. I have also had issues with my Keynote presentations loosing connectivity to Apple TV through the blue tooth. Q What are my options beside getting a new iPad?

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

What happens when you attempt to play such media? Do you get some error messages or does the app crash, or does something else happen?
Did you update to iOS 7 while away from home or before you left?
Did you do an over the air update or via iTunes? If it was over the air I'd be interested in knowing how much available space you had on your iPad before you did the upgrade.

No. You can not. The only thing you can do is update to the durrent version. iOS 6. Shut off your antivirus and firewall software during the update process. It can interfere. If you are using Kaspersky, you may need to remove it entirely.
