I have updated to the new version of iPhoto but it will no longer let me edit text in the preset text boxes. The text is highlighted for a nanosecond but will not stay highlighted so I can amend it. Can anyone help me with this. Many thanks.

You might try using the add-on 'NoSquint' which allows numerous zoom options specific to each page you visit & keeps your settings - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nosquint/
If you want to go back to 3.6x, you will find it here:

In most cases you can simply "upgrade" (meaning downgrade) directly from the installation. It would be a good idea to save your passwords & bookmarks just to be on the safe side.

All that you had to do was to sign into the old account in order to update those apps. What I mean is that you just needed to sign into that account in the store settings like I described and that should have worked. You didnt need to enter the credit card information again - you justed needed to use the old ID and password.
Anyway, I think the good news is that if everything else is OK with the new account, just download iBooks with the new ID - it's a free app so its not like you have to pay for it again. I'm not sure what the other App is that you are talking about - but if it is the Apple Store App - that is free as well.
Try this anyway, when you try to update iBooks, just use the old password if the old ID still pops up.

Open App Store > Purchases, and see if iPhoto app is listed. If not, unhide it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928 Apart from that, check that iPhoto is in Applications folder. If not, put it in this folder.
If nothing works, remove iPhoto, open App Store > Purchases, and install iPhoto free of charge -

You can force quit by holding the power button down for extended period.
During boot up hold down the Option key and choose your Macintosh HD OSX.
In >System Preferences> Startup Disk>choose your internal OSX System as Default. -

Does Aperture 3 have built in PhotoShare/iCloud capabilities or do I need a newer version of iPhoto as well? I'm running iPhoto '09 and am to scared to switch to the newer version of iPhoto..?

Both Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11 are compatible with Photo Stream. However, note that the most recent iPhoto '11 and Aperture 3 versions use the same library, so your library will be upgraded, and it doesn't mind if you install iPhoto '11 or Aperture 3. That's why I recommend you to make a backup of your iPhoto library before installing Aperture or upgrading iPhoto -

Mine does the same thing occasionally, is your phone jailbroken? Sometimes it will work if you delete the book and reinstall it or put your phone into airplane mode then turn it back off.

I installed Mavericks to my computer and iPhoto isn’t working it has a grey no working symbol over it. So I tried to download the new version of iPhoto but it starts to download and just gets to 10.2MB and starts all over after about 3 mins of doing this it comes up with an error message saying an error had occurred. I have tried downloading several times restarting the computer and downloading and still get the same thing over and over again. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Perform a hard reboot
Hold down the Home button and Power button on your iPhone or iPad and keep holding them until you see the Apple logo. Once you do, you can let go. When your device boots back up, go ahead and check to see if the apps have started re-downloading. If they still appear to be stuck, continue on. -
