I have upgraded the latest IMAC with Lion, now my remote control only operates sound level

My new IMAC has just been upgraded with Lion OS. The remote control now only controls volume, whereas previously it controlled most media. Can anyone help?

Frontrow is no longer part of OS X so ability to control media would appear to be gone.

The apple coloured ball keeps appearing in photo elements 13 but not in any other programme including premier elements and organiser. I have the latest IMac  with ample storage and ram

I believe I have solved the problem.  I have 16mb ram so I went into photo
preferences and raised to 75% what is available for photo
I also reduced the cache from 6 to 2.  The last two sessions the coloured
ball has not appeared.  Hope this might be usefull  to others

  • Is there a way to instal Final cut studio 2 in the new iMac with Lion?

My new iMac arrived with pre installed Os x Lion. When tried to instal FCS2 it gives me error that it can't open it because PowerPC apps are no longer supported. Geniuses . I'm wandering, since I can't downgrade to snow leopard, is there a way around this. Can I buy the snow leopard, instal only the Roseta , instal FCS2 and then uninstall the Roseta?
Has any of you encounter this problem?
Are the new iMacs exclusively done to run with Lion?

You will need to install Snow Leopard in order to be able to run the FCS 2 Installer since it requires Rosetta. Note however, that the applications do not require Rosetta (they are UB). So after having installed FCS you could now upgrade to Lion if you want .... but upgrading the OS over an installed version of FCS is not recommended practice.
Personally, I'd just get a copy of Snow Leopard and stick with that .... or get FCS 3 (and stick with Snow Leopard).

  • Does the new iMac with lion come with a disc???

    Hello,
Why didn't my mac come with a disk ??? And iDVD???

No and no however the computer will have a restore volume on it. If you ever need to reinstall OS X it's already on the HD and even it the HD crashes and has to be replaced as long as you have an Internet connection Lion will be downloaded to your system. You can also download Lion Recovery Disk Assistant if no Internet Connection is available so you can create your own media. Apple has created a number of plans so having physical media shipped isn't necessary.
Regarding iDVD you can still get it, the easiest method is by buying it from Amazon where you can still get the old version of iLife. The cost is less than $40 if you fee you have to have it.

  • IDVD HD 6 install on the latest iMacs?

At present I have a 2008 iMac and I'm about to purchase one of the latest iMacs (Mountain Lion).  I want to continue using iMovie HD 6 but not sure if it can be transferred to & used on the new iMac.  I had a reply to one of my posts in discussions that it will work but I can't find the reply in the 'My Stuff' of my account or remember who the reply came from.
Can someone please give me confirmation about this and how to do it?  Thanks.

Yes, it is definitely said to work, but you may have to install it from your original iLife 6 disk.
If you new iMac includes iMovie 11, you can have both:
Happily this is easily achieved, but it has to be done backwards.
Delete iMovie 11 (just drag it to the trash). Now install iMovie 6 from the iLife 6 install disks. Update it to iMovie 6.0.3.
Now re-install iMovie 11. This automatically moves iMovie 6 into a folder it creates in your Applications folder called iMovie Previous Version.
    Then reinstall iMovie 11.
iMovie 6 works great with iDVD 7.
Now you have them both, and you can have both in the Dock as well.
Alternatively you could try this method, suggested by poster Uitech:
Open a terminal and type "touch /Library/Preferences/com.apple.iLife011.plist"
    (No quotes)
Install iMovieHD6 from the iLife 6 install disk.
This works with both Leopard and Snow Leopard Macs.

  • I have the l latest iMac with the Lion OS. Can it be used as a secondary monitor to a PC laptop? If so, how is this accomplished?

I have the l latest iMac with the Lion OS. Can it be used as a secondary monitor to a PC laptop? If so, how is this accomplished?

This is called Target Display mode, unfortunately this isn't possible with a current iMac unless the PC Laptop has a Thunderbolt outpout port which I'm certain it does not. Please read both Target Display Mode Mid 2011 iMacs & if you are interested Target Display Mode 2009 & 2010 iMacs.

  • I have new iMac with Lion installed; can I get a free upgrade for my MacBook Pro?

    Hello
I recently bought a 27" iMac with Lion installed.  Should I be able to download the upgrade for my MacBook Pro without paying.  If so what should I do.  If I go to the App Store I'll end up paying £20.99
    Any help gratefully received
    margaret

    Margaret,
No you will need to purchase the upgrade. However if you own other Macs you want to upgrade once you have purchased Lion then you can upgrade the additional machines. Of course the additional machines must be using the same Apple ID. As long as the additional machine's meet the minimum system requirements listed below you are all set.
    General requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

You need Snow Leopard before you can go to Lion...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements...

  • Does anyone have drivers that will enable a Tascam US-144 (old model) to work with the latest version of Lion?

Hi, does anyone have drivers that will enable a Tascam US-144 (old model) to work with the latest version of Lion? The drivers available on the manufacturer's download site are for a newer model and were not designed specifically to work with Lion. Does anyone have a tried and tested fix for this? Thank you.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
    NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

You did not look at Mountain Lion's Tech Spec's, click www.apple.com/osx and click the Tech Specs tab. That information has been posted for months.

You can upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion and Mavericks. I recommend you to upgrade to OS X Mavericks because it is the most recent version and it is free.
Open the Mac App Store and download OS X Mavericks for free. While it's being downloaded, make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are supported > http://www.roaringapps.com
If you still want to use Mountain Lion, you can purchase it at the Apple Online Store > http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion

  • I have installed the latest OS X Updaate 10.8.4 - several times on my iMac, with restarts, but it won't disappear from my App Store update list.  Why?

I have installed the latest OS X Updaate 10.8.4 - several times on my iMac, with restarts, but it won't disappear from my App Store update list.  Why?   ..and how do I get rid of it?

I had a similar problem with trying to update using the App Store, and being told that the software was "installed" yet I was still only running 10.8.3.
The App Store was continually saying the 10.8.4 was available but with many tries I still could not download or install it.
And there are a few links to the OSX 10.8.4 (Combo) update that actually lead to a "Cant find this page error" on the Apple site and the App Store.
I did find a link to just the vanilla flavoured OSX 10.8.4 update here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1658 which is a smaller download of 359mb rather than 849mb with the combo update.
The simple OSX 10.8.4 update downloaded fine with Safari and I installed it with no problems from the finder. A few opening's on closing's of the App Store app made the update flag finally disappear.
I have since come back here to report this and then found the link to 10.8.4 Mountain Lion Update v10.8.4 (Combo) at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659 above and found that this link also starts to download the update through Safari and while I decided that I no longer needed it, I would presume that it would still install fine from the finder like the OSX 10.8.4 update did.
So it seems to me that there is a problem with (maybe occasionally) updating from the App Store, but if you download from either of the two "hard" links above and install from the finder it should be fine.
