I have upgraded to 5.01...now sites that I used to stay logged into will now longer stay logged in. After a certain time they timeout...the site does not close but I have to sign back in again. Is there a setting I need to change?

This issued started after I upgraded to 5.01. I 'm not sure if I inadvertently changed a setting that is causing the problem.

Make sure that the Location Bar is not set to "Nothing":

Since running the update, my mail is messed up. Light saying connected to internet is green but SMTP's (connection Dr) are red. Is there a setting I need to change?

About the OS X Mavericks v10.9.5 Update This is the update I just ran.

I just went back through and went through the port settings after looking up what should be there. Why were some of them different after the update?
I did make a couple changes to the port #'s and restarted my computer again.
I opened the connection Dr. says my internet is fine but still not receiving or sending email. still shows that email is not connecting.
I know the esp's work ( I finally figured out esp vs isp) My email is up and working on my iPad so it is working MUST be a setting.
it is 3:45 my time and I'm off to work for 4 pm - so this is another 3 hours of reading and working on this to try to reinstate my emails on my home computer. Thank goodness my iPad wasn't mucked up too.

As it happens, a connection to the Time Capsule is established usually, anyway. On occasion it doesn't.
I have a Volume, Data, on the capsule, which similarly, usually mounts, but occassionally doesn't, with access permissions denied.
Any suggestions on how begin to work out how to achieve networking seamlesness?

First, restart the Time Capsule by disconnecting the power adapter and reconnecting it. If other devices on the network can see it, you can skip this step.
From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
Click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the window and authenticate to unlock the settings, if necessary. Click the Advanced button, then select the TCP/IP tab in the sheet that drops down. Click Renew DHCP lease.
Try again to back up.
If you still can't, open the Time Machine preference pane and delete the TC from the list of backup destinations. You may have to unlock the settings by clicking the lock icon in order to do this. Then add it back.

I am using Macbook pro, OS 10.6.8, 4 GB memory, 2 ghz intel processors i7. This has happened about 6 times in the last 3 months. Seems to be getting more frequent. Sometimes happens after using Netflix streaming video, sometimes after browsing sites that don't play video. I frequently use Pandora, but have Firefox set to dump cache, memory, etc. after each use.

Have you tried a safe start by holding the shift key when you boot? If that works, and it can take a while to complete, see if a regular boot now works. If it does, you need to free up space on your hard drive.
If a safe boot doesn't work, you need to either boot from an OS X DVD or go into target disk mode to connect via firewire cable to another mac to free up space on your hard drive. You need 5GB min, with 10% to 15%, or more, better, for systems usage. If you have a backup, move some data files to it, erase them and empty the trash.

You can't do a backup of icloud to an external drive. In fact, does your post have anything to do with icloud (you're in the icloud forum)?
What kind of "system backup" are you doing? Are you using Time Machine?

I can open a certain link in Internet Explorer and see all the information but when I open it in Firefox I get the HTML. Is there a setting I need to change in Firefox?

Of course you can, just remember that iphoto replaces the finder. It's the manager for your photos.

I have ADOBE X reader installed in my systems. When I wanted to open an online pdf form, Mozilla puts up a error message and the form does not open.

Ever since I downloaded the version 6.0, my youtube video's and other video's won't play and are halted. Is their a setting I need to change now ?

When going to youtube.com in it's own tab, every video comes on to play for a few seconds and is halted with no way to play the entire video again. I can watch a youtube video in facebook but it too is kept from streaming smoothly. When editing my photos and video's offline for my camera. The software performs flawlessly on my computer as always. I run Norton 360 premium edition. no bells or whistles. I run the add on for you tube as i always have from firefox. Is there some setting i need to change now with this version 6.0? 5.0 worked fine also. When I watch a video I uploaded to weather.com now, I get flawless audio without the video to see. My 4GB Ram is peaking out running firefox now. Not sure if having many tabs left open is affecting the performance and the videos. it did not do so with 5.0 as it does with 6.0. Thanks

All video content on certain sites does not load or even appear. How do I fix this?

On most websites, all video content is loading fine. On one or two particular sites, the video does not load, but is simply a black box. I disabled all my add-ons, and that did not take care of the problem. I disabled the Enable Hardware Acceleration option on Flash. This did nothing. Please help me fix this. I am at my wit's end.

On Soccer Highlights, because I have Flash set to "click to play", I first need to activate Flash before the black boxes show any content. There is an infobar which slides down or I can use the plugin notification icon (looks like a small Lego block) in the address bar. (Screen shot #1, #2)
Next I click to play and I get an ad. Of course. Followed by content. So it should work.
When you say you disabled all your add-ons, do you mean you tested in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions (but not plugins) and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].

Shuffle play no longer works properly and the artwork does not match after iOS5 upgrade.
