Apple discontinued support for PowerPC apps with Lion, I think, so you're out of luck there. No patch coming, unfortunately. Best to upgrade whatever old applications you have or, since it seems like you're using some relatively old software, scout around for replacements that give you the functionality you need.
Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Print & Scan and select your scanner from the list--if it's not there you'll need to add it (start with the little plus icon). Once you have it in the list you can click on the Open Scanner button and a pretty barebones scanner driver will load for you. But Image Capture (as mentioned previously), found in your Applications folder, will probably do the job as adequately, or better, than your old scanner software.

Cannot connect to Hover mail server unless I login to my webmail and then the messages magically load in Mail and then it goes offline again.

Let it go... these DL's take forever, depending on the spped of your connection and the traffic on the servers.
If by morning it is still sitting there restart and the DL should pick up from where it left off.

Consider running your Adobe and AppleWorks software in Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) installed in Parallels in Lion or Mt. Lion:

  • I have upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks, since then my Adobe Flash Player don't want to work?

Hi, can anybody help me please, i have upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks, since then my Adobe flash player don't want to work.
I clicked on update and downloaded the update from Adobe and installed it.
Every time i get an error saying - "that this wasn't downloaded from App Store".
i can not find it in App Store.
    What must i do?

Try this: in your Utilities folder launch Adobe Flash Player Install Manager and run it to completely uninstall Flash. Then go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and download Flash
Once downloaded, double-click to open it and run the installer. If you get a message saying the file can't be opened, or similar, Control+click or right click and select 'open' and should then be able to proceed to install it.

  • Safari has stopped working properly since upgrading to Mountain Lion.  Have parental controls in place and it will not add websites.  Also short cuts at top of tabs now all messed up!

Since upgrading to mountain lion the other day (from lion) safari has not been working properly.  I have parental controls in place but seem unable to add new web pages to allowed list - wasn't expecting to have to anyway - these are webpages that were working perfectly well on safari prior to upgrade.  Also the shortcuts above the tabs on safari are all now messed up.
Any advice on how to fix - I am not a computer expert so keep it simple please!
In the meantime I am having to use Firefox.
    Thanks
    Andrew

  • I have upgraded to Mountain Lion. Do I need to retain my OS X Lion Install Thumbdrive?

I've just upgraded to Mountain Lion.
I prefer to have a backup of my Install Application so I made a Bootable Tumbdrive of the Application (using Lion Diskmaker). I ran the Application as an uprade to the Lion installation on my computer (which was a clean install using the thumbdrive version of the Installer).
Planning ahead, if I need/want to do a complete re-install of Mountain Lion, do I need (with my current set of tools/packages) to retain the Lion Installer, run that first and then do an upgrade to Mountain Lion or is the application that I downloaded sufficient on its own.
Short version: does the Mountain Lion installer operate as a complete fresh install if you run it off a thumbdrive?
On a side note, does the Lion Installer Thumbdrive come complete with iLife applications (I understand they're not bundled in the Mountain Lion Installer)?
    Thanks!

Yes if you create a ML install thumb drive you can install ML clean without any previous version of OS X installed on the system.
No neither Lion or Mountain Lion come with the iLife Apps. They are completely separate from the OS. To my knowledge there is no way to download and save them from the Mac App store. They are downloaded and installed as a Package from the MAS.
If your system came with Lion preinstalled then when you do a clean install of either you then have to go to the MAS, look in your Purchases area, and download/install those.
If by chance your Mac came with Snow Leopard Pre-Installed then there is also an Applications Reinstall DVD that came with your system. You would need to use that DVD to reinstall the iLife apps then update them with Software Update.

  • My gestures aren't working now that I have upgraded to Mountain Lion

Ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion my gestures for Notifications, Launch Pad, Mission Control, ect.. aren't working. They worked the first day but have been pretty sporadic lately. Today and yesteryday none of the gestures have worked at all. I can use the touch pad to move the cursor and touch to click, but everything else is very much a no go. Checked the settings like a hundred times and verified they are all indeed turned on. NEVER had the problem in Lion.Thinking about a Genius Bar Appt, but am afraid they will magically work when I try to demonstrate the problem. As I've said, this has been mostly sporadic.
    Thanks.

If you have the current version of iLife, you can download the latest iPhoto from here:
    iPhoto 9.4.2
If not, you will have to buy iPhoto.

  • HT4906 I have upgraded to mountain lion - why aren't my photos transferred from Iphone automatically

    automatically from iphone?

First you must meet the necessary system requirements on both your Mac and Mobile device:
    iCloud: System requirements
    Mac
OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later
iTunes 11 or later (for iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match)
iPhoto ’11 version 9.4 or later or Aperture 3.4 or later (for Photo Stream)
Safari 6 or later (for iCloud.com, Bookmarks, and iCloud Tabs), Firefox 16 or later or Chrome 23 or later (for iCloud.com)
iWork '09: Pages 4.3 or later, Number 2.3 or later, and Keynote 5.3 or later (for purchase from the Mac App Store)
    iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
    iOS 6 or later
Next you need to setup iCloud on both devices by logging in to the same iCloud account and then enabling Photo Sharing as follows:
    On your Mac:
    On your iPhone, iPad:
    And in iPhoto:
That should automatically import all of the photos taken on your mobile device into your iPhoto Library on your Mac.

  • Right after upgrading to Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro, some websites on Firefox won't load videos and some look like html (or something like that).

I've used Firefox for a while on my MacBook Pro (about 1.5 years old) and it's worked great. Should be fully updated too. Immediately after I upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion, some websites wouldn't load correctly (looked like html or something). Also some websites like YouTube show video fine, but then at least one other website doesn't show the video window at all, much less play it. Safari doesn't have that problem. Any ideas?

Did you try turning off power nap?

  • I upgraded to mountain lion. Now my virgin mobile broadband internet card will not work

I uninstalled the broadband software and then tried to reistall it but it will not work. I pluged in my usb card but it doesn't show that it is pluged in. I tried the card on my girlfriends computer and it works. I pluged a camera in my usb port and that works. Can anyone help me out.
    Thanks

My internet card will only work on 32bit,and it sounds like mountain lion only works on 64bit so that must be my problem. I think I will have to upgrade my internet or go back to lion.

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I am not receiving some of my emails.  Sender gets error message:  Status 5.5.0.

I am using Outlook for Mac on my MacBook Pro.  All was working well until I upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2).  Since the upgrade, some (not all) of my incoming email messages are bounced back to the sender with the message: ....Status: 5.5.0....Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 250 OK.  What can I do to resume reception of all of my email?

  • I have upgraded to Mountain Lion and now I am trying to upgrade Pages but it says there are no upgrades available

I am running Pages 4.1 and I can not get the upgrade to 4.2

If you're not running the latest versions of the iWork apps installed from a retail box or the downloaded trial & Software Update (which has been rolled into the Mac App Store in Mountation Lion) says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. If you installed from the downloaded trial or the retail box, they must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

  • My login widow shows both user account and system administrator account . how do i not show the root account on my MBP i have upgraded to mountain lion

my log in window shows btoh my user account and the system administrator (root) acount. how do i not show the system accout on the log in window?

I think you need to disable the root user assuming you have it enabled.
    Navigate thus;
    /Applications/Utilities/Directory Utility
    ...and then.....
    Edit>Disable Root User
