I have white bars at the top of my screen on my new iPhone 5. What to do?

The title says it all. My phone is first used today and this problem is quite irritating. The touch is disabled in the area which the bars is appearing.

Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

I have a brand new iphone 5 (not 5S) which has white bars across the top of the screen. The bars are quite faint at first, if the screen has been locked for a while but they get brighter while you use the phone. The bars overlap and obscure the time and battery symbols but you can still see through them with effort. I have tried turning it off and on again but this has not helped. It may have happened after the phone was updated to the latest version (iOS 7.1.2). this was required so I could transfer my old phone's information from a backup. Has anyone experienced this issue or know the cause of it?

Hi Ererer, I am sorry to hear that you are having that problem with characters showing up at the top of your screen. I had a similar problem so I understand how frustrating it can be. This problem has been linked to some antivirus software. Could you tell me what kind you use? I have also found an easy solution to this. When they appear simply drag the window from its maximized state down. It will no longer take up the full screen and the characters will be gone and everything will be back to normal. If you want it maximized again simply drag it back. I hope this helps.

You could try reset and then if required a restore, worth trying but if no change then Out of Warranty exchange in US $229

...if you're running Mountain Lion. I'm in clamshell mode right now, so I don't have any mirroring options. AFAIK, there's no more "Show displays in menu bar" in Mountain Lion.

Thanks for that. I just realised that that is the way you have to close down all of your open apps. The way I got out of the recording memo was to tap the top of the screen and then I could cancel the recording.

After downloading the latest version of Firefox I am unable to display more than one website at a time in the tool bar at the top of my screen.

Before I upgrades to your latest version I was able to display many websites at the same time in the tool bar at the top of my screen. Now I can only display one at a time and it is extremely annoying.

I need to add a website to the sites which are allowed to install add-ons & have instructions to do so but do not have a yellow bar across the top of my screen in order to click on "Edit Options."

I tried to install an update for Adobe Reader but Mozilla Firefox will not install it until I add them to the Allowed List. The first step is to click on "Edit Options" in the yellow bar across the top, but i don't have a yellow bar or actually anything that says Edit Options.

The instructions on the Adobe site are outdated and do no longer apply to current Firefox versions and you can ignore those instructions and save the Adobe installer to your desktop and start the installation with a double-click on that file.

White bar at the top of Edge Code

i have themes installed but all themes have a white bar above the code area. This happens on one of my computers and the other one does not have it. Does anyone know what this is? Why it's there? Also see it?

Can you post a screenshot? Otherwise it's hard to know exactly what you're referring to.
But if disabling/removing the themes extension you're using makes the problem go away, your best bet is to find the GitHub project for the themes extension you're using and file a bug there. (For example: https://github.com/MiguelCastillo/Brackets-Themes/issues).

I have just updated my phone and now it won't turn back on. The display is currently black with the apple logo and a lot of sentences in white writing at the top all starting [NAND]????? what can i do to fix this?

I have just downloaded the new update and now my phone wont turn back on. The screen is blank with this across the top on the page:

I recently lost the capability to "view" the "File, Edit, History bookmarks, tools & help" bar from the top of my screen, as well as the "Start" button on the bottom of the screen.

How do I get the "File, Edit, History, Bookmarks, Tools & Help Bar to appear on my browser. I also need my "Previous Page & Next Page" arrow... and my "Start" button to appear at the bottom of my screen. I can't navigate without these.

Be sure you are not in Full Screen Mode. The F11 key will toggle Full Screen Mode on or off. If you have no Firefox toolbars, tab bar, etc., you are probably in Full Screen Mode; your Windows Taskbar (with the "Start" button) will also not be visible.
