Your expectations are not based in reality.
Your G4 will not run iCloud. There will be no upgrade from Mobile Me to iCloud for you with that machine unless you do it manually, and only mail will work without further expenditure. -

(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

I have windows vista and can access my itune downloads but when I try to access the store it thinks about it and then stops - the bar is stuck halfway across. I get no message come up. I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

I was given an older ipod nano, i think it's a 3rd gen 8gb... i have searched the iternet for help and have had no luck. when i connect the ipods to my computer i tells me the usd device is not recognized. i have tried to reset it and it still gives me the samething notice. i have even uninstalled my itunes and updated to the newest itunes available and still no luck. i can not find updats for drivers. i have windows vista.. can anyone help?
Installing the latest version of iTunes should provide the "drivers."

I would try the following. Shut down (power off) your computer. Use this procedure to reset the iPod

Disconnect ALL USB devices and peripherals (including hubs) from computer, except for standared mouse and keyboard. Start up computer that way. Run iTunes. Connect iPod to a USB port that is directly on the computer. -
