If the reset does no work
    Try:
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

It's not jailbroke or anything but it says the terms and conditions have changed. When I agree, it says your session has times out. Try again. But it doesn't give me an option to try again and has a done button underneath it. I press done. The textplus app says "Waiting..." and is gray. What can I do to download this app?

iTunes has to contact Apple to send your agreement to the new conditions, but your security software has to allow this contact. If blocked, you'll get a time out message. • Can I update ios 5 from 4th generation ipod touch?

I want to buy the 4th generation ipod touch, but I also want the ios 5 installed into the ipod touch. However, I don't want to wait for the ios 5 release date in the fall to buy the ipod. Can I just download the ios 5 to the ipod directly? Or do I have to wait for the ios 5 release date to buy the ipod?

Check compatible devices at the bottom of this page.

You will have to install iOS 5 via the iTunes update process.

i have model a1367, 8gb, 4th generation ipod touch.  how do I update it from ios 4.2.1 to 6 or more?

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; there isn't a Software Update option in General on iOS versions prior to 5.0. It can only be updated directly to the newest iOS release supported by the device’s hardware, which is iOS 6.1.6 for a fourth generation iPod touch.

. As Apple said in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

  • I am trying to reset my 4th generation ipod touch via itunes (as I cannot remember parental controls code). In itunes it does a download but then says the software was corrupted during download. Itunes is up to date. Operating system is vista. Any ideas?

I have given my 4th generation ipod touch to my husband and he wants to download some in app purchases, so I am trying to reset it via itunes. I dont remember setting parental controls but I must have at some point, maybe when I lent it to the kids. But I cannot remember the password and nothing I have tried works. So I have backed the ipod up and am trying to reset it but after speding 10 minutes doing a download I get a message that says:
"The softwaar for the iPod was corrupted during download. Disconnect and reconnect, then try again. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later"
I have tried many times. All the settings are correct, and the network seems to be working fine in all respects.
    Any advice very much appreciated.
    Thank you
UPDATE - decided to try one more time after trying for hours and it has worked! I now suspect it may have been because my son was playing an online game. Though we have plenty of bandwidth. But in case, I guess it could be a bandwidth problem.

A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (or if you forgot your passcode)
iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
    iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
If you need to restore your device or if you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to
             update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup.
If you can not restore your device then you will need to go to recovery mode.
Placing your device into recovery mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
         1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end
of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
         2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the
red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake
and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake
              and Home buttons.
         3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device.
The device should turn on. Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device
charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then
             start with step 2 again.
         4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
         5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
         6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • Having trouble updating my 4th gen iPod touch to iOS 6

I have a 4th generation iPod touch which is currently running iOS 4.3.2. It is not jailbroken, it is registered to me, and there is to my knowledge nothing wrong with it. I installed the latest version of iTunes on my girlfriend's computer because I don't have internet access at my house, signed in, plugged up my iPod, backed it up, and attempted to update it. I tried SEVERAL times, and each time iTunes finishes downloading the update, but won't actually install it on my iPod. I don't get any error messages; it just quits/gives up. ITunes offers no explanation as to why it stopped the update, and I have to start all over again. I don't understand why it won't work. Someone please help me. Thanks in advance.

    - Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install described here:

  • Can a 4th generation iPod Touch be connected to the Pantec Impact via Bluetooth?

Can a 4th generation iPod Touch be connected to the Pantec Impact via Bluetooth? They see each other but when they are told to pair or connect it fails. Both have been tried with headsets and both connect fine. Both have the most recent software updates available.

You mean the PAN profile, which is supported by the iPod touch according to the chart?
But looking into more detail on bluetooth and of what profiles my phone supports it looks like iPod uses PAN, while my phone uses DUN for tethering.

  • I have a 4th generation iPod touch which was working perfectly until I downloaded ios5 and now it won't connect to my wi-fi - all other devices working correctly. Where can I download ios 4.3.5 from?

I have a 4th generation iPod touch which was working perfectly until I downloaded ios5 and now it won't connect to my wi-fi - all other devices working correctly. My pc didn't create a backup before updating software so I can't revert back to ios 4.3.5 from there, where can I download ios 4.3.5 from?

I tried just about everything and finally brought my Ipod touch to the apple store.  The tech installed ios 4.3.5 but still no WIFI.  He recommended a $149 exchange - not really a bad deal with a new battery and 90 day warranty, but I thought I'd try again.
The "solution" was bizarre.  On YouTube was a fix involving taking the motherboard out and heating the wifi components with a heat gun.
I did not like that idea, but another involved turning it off, putting it in the freezer for five minutes and restarting.  It worked!  I must admit the fix does not work reliably, so I may still go for the exchange.  Still, I am now convinced that it is a hardware problem.    i remember back in the old days, TV repairmen sprayed a suspected bad resistor with Freon.  The chilled component would work long enough to identify what needed replacement.  Perhaps something similar is happening here.
For anyone wanting to try this, I found it more convenient to place the back of my ipod on a  frozen cold pack until the wifi is restored.  It seems to happen when condensation forms on the face.  I used a towel to wipe off the moisture so as not to add to the problem.

  • Why wont my 4th generation ipod touch charge using a wall or car adaptor.

I recently received a brand new 8gb 4th generation ipod touch for christmas. It used to work fine and charge fine. Now it can only be charged in a computer. I have tried multiple adapters and charger cables and nothing works. It has nothing wrong with it other then this problem, no screen cracks, and everything else works fine. In comparison, my old 2nd generation ipod touch has a cracked screen and cant play music because the headphone jack is busted, and can still be charged just fine using a wall socket, car, or computer. I have restored it twice now to no avail. It is updated to most recent software as well. Please help me.

If you restored to factory defaults/new iPod then it appears you have a hardware problem. Look carefully at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, broken or cracked plastic pieces.
An appountment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store would be in order.
