I highlight emails I need to follow up on. Recently these highlights have all just dissappeared. This has happened a few times. How do I prevent this?

after reading an email, or not I keep highlighted or mark as unread so I know I need to follow up on. 3 times in the last year, twice on my computer, and once on my phone. These highlighted emails lose their highlight status. They are still in the system as a read email,, but now I have to spend hours trying to find them as they are mixed up with the 100's of emails I get.
Do you know why this happens?
Is there a way to prevent it from happening?

Read status is synchronized in IMAP mail accounts between all devices. What triggers a change of read status is really hard to guess. It might be turning on a laptop that has been in the cupboard for 6 months. Might I suggest you try tagging your mail instead. Try pressing the 1 on the keyboard to mark it a important and change it's color to red. The other 8 numeric keys also have an attached label and a different colour
Note tags are not universally supported by mail servers. Change one and wait a while to see if the server sets it back to black on the next synchronization (about 15-20 minutes usually)

I have copied many photo's from another laptop to my Mac. The older photo's are in directories with names that help me select what I need to view. I would like to have all my imported new photo's also bee added to the directory structure I have in Finder

I want to use directories for storing and iPhoto for viewing. Is this possible or do I need to have all my photo's in iPhoto??

iPhoto is not a Photo Viewer. It's a Photo Manager and designed for looking after the files while you organise the Photos. It really works much better if you let it manage those files. If you use iPhoto you never go near those files because iPhoto is your start point for anything you want to do with your Photos - the point of the pplication.
You can run iPhoto in Referenced mode, where it does not copy the files to the Library, but I caution you that you are making life a lot more difficult for yourself by doing that.

Can you please provide some specifics about the problem you're encountering? Do you get an error message, or does the file conversion process never complete? Is the problem specific to one file, or occur with every file you try to convert?
Please help fill in the blanks for us, so we know best how to help you resolve this issue.

Following the most recent IOS IPhone update our Iphone calendars, contacts and messages have all merged. This problem has never happened before. We all use the same Itunes account as a family and one AppleID. Does anyone know the cause of this problem?

We have 4 Iphones. As a family we have happily shared the same ITunes account and one AppleID. After the most recent iPhone IOS update all our contacts and calendars have merged and we randomly receive some messages that one of us has sent to another contact.
This is causing chaos.
Can anyone help me with:
1. Has anyone experienced a similar problem recently?
2. The records to the individual phones have not been saved been saved separately. After this merging of all the data into one composite record, is there anyway to reverse the change and restore the phones to just their individual records?
3. I guess that the cause may be the common AppleID. I have tried to create my own AppleID but my personal email address is already linked to the existing AppleID so I am blocked from setting up a separate AppleID in my own name. Does anyone know how I can get around this block?
4. Would it be better to create a separate Apple ICloud address for each of us as well? How do I do this?

I need to import local Thunderbird files whose accounts have expired since I migrated from another computer. Help, how do I recover these emails?

I have to read emails from 2 or 3 years ago, which were held in Thunderbird, until the machine broke down. I have the data backed up, but I can't get it recognised by new Thunderbird. I can see every message encrypted in the folders. However because the account was closed by someone else, no email migration product or method will work with my local folder messages, because there is no account to authenticate.
Please provide me with a simple email view that will allow me to passively browse and read these emails, so that I can copy relevant ones to my active email account and forward to the person who needs them.

There is an add-on to TB which allows import and export of emails in various formats to/from a separate storage medium (external disk, thumb drive, etc.). You should be able to use that to import your backup file(s).

You will, because the credited funds are on your iTunes account, not the application. When you reinstall iTunes just configure it with your old iTunes account and your credits will be there waiting for you.

When getting email from google mail, I am missing many emails which I can see on my desk top. I get the last 7 days of emails, then I miss two months of emails, then I get month 4-6. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening.

yes all emails are in the web based gmail. I have not deleted the account. I forgot to mention that it has been working on my iphone for over 2 years quite well and while I was giving access to the same gmail account to my wifes new iphone when this happend. It changed both the emails on my existing phone and my wifes new phone.

Keeping main menu widget highlighted when you have all pages below this open. Its only staying highlighted for the main page

I have a main menu widget that says 'Services' then below that a group of pages thats relate to this - I want the word 'Services' to stay highlighted when Im on each page but it only is for the main one.

This is the default behavior as the one which is active will only be highlighted. Menu item is linked with page url , so if the page url is used in browser then active state will highlight that menu item.

Frontier email, text is way too big for screen, cannot see it all even when scrolling completely left to right. How can I make smaller?

I only have this problem with my Frontier email page. The text of the emails is so big I can't see it all even when scrolling completely left to right. It's like it is zoomed in about 200%. Is there something I can do to zoom out with some tool or is this a Frontier problem or a computer problem?

I get jpeg and video attachments that turn into an email icon when I try to download them, anyone else have a problem like this?

On my new iPad email I have an attachment download problem that started shortly after downloading the latest iOS system. When i receive an email with a picture or video file it has a dashed line around it. When I touch it to download it to view it the icon changes to a mail message icon hen the download completes. Then when I touch it again to open it a new mail message opens up with the attachment there to be sent to someone else.

You actually brought up a good point I forgot to mention.
I tried using forward slashes and other variations in the same manner, and they all didn't work in Firefox, but worked in Chrome and I.E.
Taking the example:

These links didn't work embedded in an email or on a webpage. For the case of the webpage, when the mouse cursor is hovering over the links, the jump bar indicates the correct link, but when clicked, nothing happens. When the links are copied and pasted into the address bar, they work.

After I emailed an attachment, I tried to delete it. my trash wouldn't empty because it says the file was in use. This has happened several times. Why?

It seems when I email a file, i can't get rid of it or eject the media it is housed on once the email is sent because firefox is still "using" the file.

I cannot update Firefox, I've tried disabling firewalls etc. My computer claims that I need admin permission to update Firefox although I am the owner and administrator of this computer. There are updates available and know the admin password for this computer. It started when I installed the Noscript tool (which I have tried disabling with the same results)

1. Download either the zipped form (or the portable form) of the latest version of FireFox.
2. Unzip (or execute the portable version) into a scratch directory. (If using the portable version, find the scratch subdirectory with the same contents as the firefox directory in the "program files" - probably called "firefox". You may have to look for it - it's buried)
3. Erase the contents of the firefox subdirectory in the Program Files directory,
4. and copy into "Program Files/firefox" directory the unzipped files (or the files in the portable subdirectory labelled "firefox" - the one that has the set of files and directories just like the ones you erased.).
It worked for me.
