I hit update on my ipod touch to the ios 6. It uploaded it then has the picture to attch to itunes. I had to download the newest version of itunes to my computer. Now the ipod still has the "connect to itunes" It says I need to restore

When I connect to itunes. It does not recognize my ipod and said I need to restore. I have tried to restore which says will take 4 hours but it never completes. The ipod still has the picture of "connect to itunes" Please help. I have tried to figure this out for days.

What computer do you have?
What iTunes are you running now?
What OS X system are you running are your computer now? Or is this a Windows machine?

For music problem:

For wifi
Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

New Computer and Now Everytime I Connect My iPhone It Says It Needs To Restore?

I got a new lap top at Christmas and successfully transferred my music and pictures via USB from my old computer to a new computer. I successfully synced my phone to my lap top (I can't remember if it went into restore mode the first time I connected it). Now whenever I connect my phone to iTunes, it says it does not recognize the phone and it needs to restore to factory settings. I have authorized my computer so I don't believe that's the problem but I can't figure what else to do. I keep having to back up my phone everytime I connect it to my computer because it causes me to lose everything if I don't.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

As an iPhone user myself, I know it must be very much a problem to have the phone out of service because of an error such as you are seeing. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.

Not if you first do a sync and have iTunes make a backup. However, if your only copy of the iTunes data is in the Touch, then you need to first copy the data to a new iTunes Library using third-party software such as Phone To Mac.

So i was updating my ipod touch (4g) to ios 6 and i needed to stop it in the middle of updating. so i held the home button and the lock button. it turned white and i tried charging it when it died but it went back to usual please help!

When it was dead i put it on a charger. once it got charged up it started turning on with the apple symbol. then it turned white again and then restarted without me touching anything. When it restarted it turned the blue again. i took it off the charger immediantly because i didnt want it getting as hot as it was before. ive tried every way i know how to fix it but not putting it in the computer because i dont want it to ruin the computer. Please help because i really dont want to get a new ipod. Ive read a lot about how to fix it here on apple but there all the same answer and it still doesnt work. First see if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow a restore.
Next try DFU mode and restore.

I suspect you have the original, 1G iPod touch. Those can only go as high as iOS 3.1.3,
If y ohave a 2G those can go as high as 4.2.1

Connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes as far as your iPod model allows

Restore...
From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.
There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time.

Same problem here, after istalling ios 6 on my iphone 4s my auto lock didnt work, but when i closed my assistive touch it worked again..I didnt have this problem in the 5.1.1 version. I dont wanna close the assistive touch tough....annoying problem !!!
Another problem occured in the settings of alarm clock. The sensivity of the on-off button is not as good as in the 5.1.1 version...
Hope they will fix this problem soon !!!

It's a 64G ipod touch and was fine till Apple told me to upgrade to ios 6. Now most of my apps crash, my music won't play and I just get a white screen when I hit Music.
When I try to sync to itunes it acts like it's going to sync and appears to recognize the ipod, but it's grayed out and has an update circle by it that spins for a while until itunes eventually freezes alltogether. Is there a way to go back to ios 5 after a erase and reset?
