I Hope Apple developers Will Read This !

I definitivly thing a found a REAL problem on the current ipod software...
(I spent quite a large amount of time checking, so I hope it wont be useless...)
I have (my iPod Has) problems reading files that have been encoded in AAC format using :
- iTunes v 4.0, 4.1 and 4.1
with
- Quicktime 6.2, 6.3 and 6.4.
(The problem seems to be resolved from version 4.2 or iTunes (quicktime 6.5))
These files can be read by Itunes, Quicktime player but my iPod just skips them !
I ALSO tried to read them on a collegue ipod (same model) and the problem is still the same, they are just skiped !
If I re-encode them using the original CD OR EVEN USING the .m4a files (that can't be read be the ipod), then iPod can read them !
So ?

Roland, welcome to Apple Discussions. This is a forum for fellow owners of Apple products and namely iPod in this part of the forum. Developers may or may not look at these posts, but I would guess most likely that they won't. On that note you can contact Apple support at:

Secondly, you sound like you are severely out of date on your software. There is an iTunes 6 available which will also update your Quicktime to version 7.0.3 or something like that. I also wonder what version of you firmware do you have on your iPod. You will most likely need to update this (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/).
I can tell you that no company unless specifically paid for will not support earlier releases of software when they have new versions out that will address most issues. Once you have updated, then I think you have legitimate excuse to talk to Apple (http://www.apple.com/support/complimentary/). Most likely you will have to use their 800 number (http://www.apple.com/contact/phone_contacts.html).

    I got my AppleTV two days ago and I really enjoy it, but the fact it doesn't have a real "turning off" or "auto-turning off" or "auto-sleeping" feature when not used for a while , it's a real shame. With all the environmental problems we have and need to save energy, how that can be possible? All my Macs turn off by themselves when I don't use them for a while (i.e. Energy Panel).

    I see the merit of your point... however... the hard disks spin down whenever it's not in use... and there is a standby feature but it's up to the user to decide if they want it to be used or not...
    45W vs 11W when idling around... that's a 75% improvement... 11W is leaving one of those new fangle ugly as sin lightbulbs running all the time...
    all in all... 11W... is pretty darn spectacular.
    i do think we need to do all we can to limit our waste... but there's a balance, too. I doubt we're baking the earth to death at 11W per user... maybe there are bigger fish to fry... whoops... bad analogy... in our effort to save the planet from ourselves.
    maybe a project that teaches cows how to convert their own methane ***** into something less pollutive? there are probably more cows with greater gas output than appletv users at 11W.
    But if you feel that passionately... go for it. You can save 11W and I'll eat beef to reduce the population of cattle.

  • APPLE STAFF please read this!!!

    As you can see, practically every iPod shuffle has had problems with the 1.1.4 update that comes with iTunes 7.0.1
    The problem is that it starts blinking amber/green, won´t play any song nor would be recognized by the computer, becomes useless.
    It also can`t be restored with the original CD it came with or by iTunes restorer.
    I´m asking if you could fix this bug as soon as possible, since it appears to have no solution by the five R´s or any other method in these posts.

    If you have an Apple Store nearby, go. After a 2 hour drive to my "Local" Apple store, the 'Genius' plugged it in, confirmed the dead-ness and handed me a new one.
    Out of the 15 or so people waiting with me, two had Mac Books for service, one had a desktop, and all of others had dead iPods. Those dead iPods were NOT all Shuffles, either. There were all types of iPods. No attempts were made to "Fix" any of them, they were ALL just replaced with new.

  • Anytime I try using roboform with firefox 10.0 or newer firefox crahses. How do I fix or make sure firefox developers will fix this?

    I upgraded my firefox to the 10.0, since then whenever I try to use roboform it will automatically crash and close. I am using 9.0 now since it is the lastest version that will not crash when using roboform. Firefox needs to fix this issue if I am to continue using it. I have always loved firefox but this roboform issue sucks a big one.

    The only way to fix a problem is to do a complete reinstall of Firefox and Mozilla:
    * Do a backup of your Firefox Bookmarks and other personal data (Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks -> Import and Backup).
    * Close all Firefox and Mozilla windows and its taskbar icon.
    * Uninstall Firefox from "Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs".

  • HOPING SOMEONE FROM BT WILL READ THIS!!!

    I have a fault on my BT line, I have broadband but no phone line from last Friday.
    I have been through all the procedures you request re: troubleshooting, I have even purchased a new corded phone which I have plugged directly into the socket, I still have no dial tone. 
    I went to a neighbours (which is a mile away as I live out in the country) last night to contact BT, eventually I managed to get a real person, I told him I had done all the tests to the best of my ability, he ran a test and said my line was showing no fault and I should follow your guidlines re: troubleshooting......I told him I had, as I had told him previously. 
    He then asked if I wanted a technician to call, bearing in mind that if the fault lay with my own equipment I would be billed £130 on my next bill. I again went over everything I had done and asked him if he thought my equipment was at fault, all he could tell me was that a line test showed no fault on the line.
    He then proceeded to 'read me my rights' it really made me feel as if I was being arrested and charged with a crime! He checked and told me the earliest appointment I could have have would be Thursday.
    I explained to him that we are pensioners, that my husband has a heart complaint and has had a major stroke, that we live out in the country, that we have no mobile phone as we can not get a signal where we live. He said he would try and put our case in as a welfare case, he took my nieghbour's name and number, he asked if I could stay there for a while and his manager would ring me back, I waited for over an hour, no one rang.....up to now my neighbour has not been contacted.
    On checking my status online today I see that my callout is still booked for Thursday 16 June, on top of this I am now worried to death that I have completed all the troubleshooting tests correctly. I only have one phone, one socket, one computer, my socket has an inbuilt filter and the connections for the broadband and the phone are seperate (on the same socket) 
    We are pensioners, I am not technically minded and £130 is over 50% of our weekly income.
    What has happened to customer care? I have always paid my bills on time......you know, my bill's that pay your wages!!

  • I hope it's Kappy reading this. My HP Laserjet successfully installed but can't create a print queue...

    Hello Kappy - Thank you for persevering with my printer issues. Firstly, I use Firefox, recently updated & as yet have not discovered how to monitor downloads. The software for HP Laserjet 2200 was eventually automaticallly, and therefore correctly, installed.The Add Printer Pane accessed via the + button in the Printer & Scanner window is blank - the Name & Location and Print Using & Add areas are all grayed out, therefore I can't locate the printer driver even though it is in the Printer folder. I messed around with HP Direct Protocol & Line Daemon functions, entering my IP address, just to see if I could locate the printer driver - I could. However, I get a pop-up window which says 'Unable to verify the printer on your network' but it gives me the option of going ahead anyway, which I did. I was able to create a print queue, able to give a print command, the printer window opens, but the printer appears as 'busy', but of course it's not printing. To look at the issue from another perspective: previously I was running 10.5.8 on my old Power Mac G5 and a week before I shifted over the iMac I paused the printer but when tried to resume printing I got a pop-up message saying IPadmin > enter administrator name + password. Which of course I couldn't do - I discovered this was a bug afflicting10.5 & 10.6 operating systems; the only way I could get around it was by re-creating myself as a new administrator, which I did, and got the printer going again. So, if I have a "Network" printer perhaps there's another route to get the driver recognized... What do you think?

  • Repeat One!... developers of apple iPod and iTunes read this!

    It’s not an issue I think anyone can help me with but I hope the developers of apple iPod and iTunes read this.
    I am a full supporter and user of both iTunes and iPod…. But some things have always bugged me. :P

    Can you please, for everyone’s sake, fix the repeat one function? Yes, when the ipod gets to the end of the song I want it to repeat the song ones more. But when I select next (>>) I’m sick of the song and wound like the next one. But instead it just starts over on the same track.
    Today I have to click menu, scroll down and select play on the next song to move forward… meaning I actually have to take the iPod out of my pocket and see what I’m doing.
    iTunes music library.
    Another thing which would have been practical in these holiday times would be a separate music library function for iTunes. In other words be able to select, load and save different library for different usages.
    Why you say?....
    1.I don’t need my holyday Christmas songs clogging up my library in the summer.
    2.When I do sound work for animations I like to have my sound FX and background music outside of my music list.
    3.Some people are, (believe it or not), ashamed of some of their music and would like to store theme where no one can se them. Say I invite the boys over for some iron maiden and they end up finding my backstreet boys album. (yikes)
    4.Say you have some very privet videos or sound books you don’t want your kids to here or see.
    5.When I need background music for some tabletop role-playing I wand them in a separate list as well.
    6.ETC
    And before you say it… NO… play lists, and do not include in shuffle isn’t the solution…. neither is users. Have you even seen how terrible Microsoft user system works? (Yes I know get a MAC, but you can’t always play that card.)
    This function really shouldn’t be difficult to make since you have the “iTunes Library.itl” file already.
    This is just my opinion so fare, but if anyone agrees or disagrees; Pleas post a reply.
    It’s all in good fun… As I said, I love my iPod and iTunes except for these issues. (Well I could talk about volume but… naaa, enough badgering for one night :P)

    Copying and paste photo to different album is such a long process you need to sync your photos from your computer to
    Teh ipad.i have a samsung phone that runs with android and it much easier to do this kind of things.i love my ipad 2 but i hope apple will do something about
    Issue on the photo albums. On the advertisment of ios 5 they are saying we are making this easier but yet powerful.

    Under ios 5 you can easily copy photos from any existing slbum to a new album.. You just cannot ( or at least i cannot) put them into an existing album.

    We need to know more about your system, please download EtreCheck and run the report and please post it on your next reply. Then we can see how your system is configured, what apps are on it and look for anything obvious. We will look forward to seeing your report.

  • I want to reject blocked calls.  Any hope that apple will support this feature in the near future?

    This is a pretty simple thing I want to do...  I want to reject any incoming calls that do not reveal their phone number.  Simple, right?  Wrong.  My current choices are jail breaking the phone (and then buying an app to do what I want), or going through some pay-by-month site to display calling numbers.  It should be so much easier.  There are so many postings about this issue on the internet.  Why is not getting addressed by Apple?

    Unlikely Apple will do this as this is done on a carrier level, not a mobile phone level.

    That's why he gave you the link to make the suggestion.
    But returning to your proposal ... Apple does not sell any of the "wifi" connections. It would be up to providers of service to sell giftcards, and perhaps Boingo or some of other airport-commercial WiFi firms do. I can't think of any other place I've been asked to pay for WiFi.
    Now Verizon and AT&T, as well as other providers in other countries, could sell Gift Cards... and again, perhaps they do, but you'll have to check with them or make the suggestions there. It's really not an Apple issue, as they don't sell or provide any connections, just the hardware to make them.

    I had the same experience with a new iPhone 5 that I bought  last week. Did not have a chance to measure battery life before the 6.0.2 upgrade installed but I set up my phone exactly like my 4S and immediately started running out of power after short periods. Went to Xmas get together with fully charged 5 and 4S. Heading home the iPhone 5 shut down for low battery and the 4S had 65% power. Both phones had two half phone calls on then and no data usage.
    That night I fully charged the iPhone 5 and, without lighting it up, put it on my night table. Next morning I picked it up and looked at battery indicator and I had 42% charge with NO activity!
    Tried it again next night and wound up with 37% charge. (Slept longer).
    Today I called the carrier and reactivated the 4S.  Took the 5 to Apple Store and they kindly gave me choice of new replacement phone or refund. I took the refund. Uniquely, the Apple Store said it was Verizon CDMA phones that were coming back.
    The are other strings on this with temporary solutions, but from my experience with 7 firmware changes on an HTC 4G phone the problem will continue because the solution will be hardware caused. We are in the days where RTM means Rush to Market - not Release To Manufacturing.
    I fear the only solution is to either wait for the next model (I did not notice a really major change in performance over the 4S in LTE heavy Seattle area) - or switch to another manufacturer.
    It might be useful for these forums to indicate if you have a GSM or CDMA phone to see which have more problems.

    just a summary...
    i have a iphone 3G which i have been using for a long time and now i got an iphone 5s.. troubleshooting this kind of stuff is not new to me from computers to smartphones.. the internet has a vast majority of information and all you need to do is type in the right "KEYWORD".. i'm that kind of guy that looks for the answer before i try to look on it on my own.. i'm a DIY kind of guy as long as there is an instruction on how to do it..
    now, back to the topic..
    so i was trying to copy some of my pictures on my iphone 5s to my PC for backup purposes and to see the quality of the images but the portable device doesn't show up unlike my iphone 3G which is f***ing WEIRD.. been tinkering with this over the past 5 days since i have nothing to do and testing the new features of this phone but to no avail.. searched all over the internet but still none..
    so last night, i was really determined since i can't sleep and also connected my iphone 3G to my PC while the iphone 5s is connected.. so here is what shows up on my devices and printers and device manager..
    i can totally see the pics on my iphone 3G but not on my iphone 5s.. totally amazing.. good job apple!
    the picture under devices shows my iphone 3G and the other 2 on unspecified is my iphone 5s.. the iPhone under there is being used as my source of internet since this is tethered so i can have access and post this in here so that APPLE will know how f***ed up their SOFTWARE is is..
    so i downloaded itunes a couple of times, and i can't remember how many already, i think 5 times or more and then uninstalled all apple softwares (itunes, apple application support, apple mobile device support and etc as long as there is apple in it) and then reinstalled itunes but still none..
    so i went on device manager removed my iphone 3G and the only one that would show there is the Apple Mobile Device USB driver under USB controllers..
    and then i uninstalled the driver, looked for the driver myself by just it doesn't show up in here where you are directed to look for the driver and oh im using 64 bit just so everyone knows and i already found out that my system is using the usbaapl64.sys file in windows>system32>drivers..
    so last night i installed, reinstalled itunes and then suddenly my drive D: was gone and i received an error or a "!" on my drive and my drive is not being detected.
    Error: windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damage. (code 19).
    i unstalled the driver in device manager and then scan hardware changes, updated the driver automatically and manually and it is saying that i have the latest hardware but i can't use my DVD drive with the error on it..

    so i then uninstalled my itunes, uninstalled my driver and then updated it and "walla!". i can see my DVD drive again. i am using iTunes64Setup v12.0.1.26 just so everyone knows and this setup can detect both my iphones and my iphone 5s is using the latest version which is iOS 8.1.2..
    after reinstallation of itunes my DVD drive can be seen and just  noticed how APPLE SOFTWARES are so ****** up.. CAUSING A LOT OF TROUBLE AND DAMAGES..
    so going back to the topic..
    i was able to find a way (AFTER HOW MANY HOURS of TROUBLESHOOTING) on how my iphone 5s was able to detect the portable device or should i say the images on my iphone 5s where the autoplay pops up and everything..
    so i went on device manager, uninstalled apple mobile device USB driver, disconnected my iphone 5s, UNLOCKED my iphone 5s, connected it to my PC, clicked on TRUST this PC, on my PC the sound for a USB being connected sounded, and at the bottom right, automatically installed the drivers and then the autoplay popped up with the matching PORTABLE DEVICES on COMPUTER where i can browse the internal storage and the pictures..
    so now i opened iTunes and BOOOM!
    iTunes doesn't detect my iphone 5s but i can browse on the images on my phone..
    so again i went to device manager, uninstalled the driver for apple iphone under portable devices, scanned for hardware changes, updated the driver manually by selecting drive C: so it would automatically find the correct drive..
    so now, my iphone can be detected by itunes but not on my COMPUTER.. see how ****** UP this is?!.. JEEEEEEEEEZ!!
    Now i finally found the SOLUTION on how to do this and vice versa.. UNTIL APPLE decides to FIX their SOFTWARE/DRIVER issues..
    if you want to scan or browse the images on your iphone 5s on your computer all you need to do is do this:
    [for those who don't know how to reach this part, here is a GUIDE on how to open this is: click on the device > click on update driver software > browse my computer for driver software > let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer]
    and then you will see the screen below
    click on MTP USB Device and then click on Next, after it finishes installing the drivers, your PC will automatically detect a new portable device but in order for you to access the images you need to go back on your phone, unlock it if it lock automatically and then click on "TRUST" and then you can now see the images..
    BUT the problem here is that your iPhone can't be detected on iTunes...
    now, if you want to go back to where your phone can be detected on itunes, just follow these steps:
    click on apple mobile device USB driver, click on Next and then wait for your computer to finish the installation and then you will hear the beeping sound. check your phone, unlock it, then click on "TRUST", and then go to iTunes and you will now see your iPhone there but not on your PC where you can browse for the images..
    SEE HOW THIS DRIVERS are so ****** up.. i wish i hadn't started using this ****** UP OS with all the BUGS and GLITCHES.. JEEEZ! and to think, these DEVICES are not CHEAP compared to Android devices on the market.. it's just because of how these people go with the trend that they purchase these kind of stuff and the only thing they use it for is calling or texting.. i, for once use this not for calling or texting but also for the apps that it has like the games, ebooks and etc when im bored..
    i HOPE the Apple DEVS read this and find the solution on the drivers which is so ****** UP and so LAME!!
    PS: i hope a lot of people who are having the same issue as what i had find this and help them with their concern even though this is not a permanent solution.. it is just a work around for folks that are looking for answers and solution.
