I imported some photos to iPhoto from my iPhone.  After it was done, I said it could delete the photos.  iPhoto quit unexpectedly and now the photos aren't on my iPhone or iPhoto.  Help!

These were pictures of my honemoon and I'm desperate to get them back!

All I am trying to do is find something on a forum board or article etc stating that the the date showing in iphoto could be the date it was imported or synced or sent to me and not the actual date taken.
The date on the photo could be anything because you can edit the date with iPhoto or any of 100 apps, free and paid for. So, the date on the photo will prove nothing, I'm afraid.

iPhoto is quitting unexpectedly and losing the photos I just imported and edited.  Any suggestions to fix it?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

Assuming you have Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks, restart and hold the Command and R keys.  When the reboot has completed, click Utilities on the menu bar if the utilities window has not automatically opened.  Click Terminal.  When the Terminal window has opened, type exactly the following:
    resetpassword
    and press Enter.
When the Reset Password Window opens, select the internal storage, the user, and type a new password twice.  Do not enter a hint.  Click Save.
Accept the next window that opens, and back at the Reset Password window click the lower right button to accept the reset of the user's home directory permissions.
Click the apple left side of the menu bar, Restart and you will now have a new password.

You will need to purchase the upgrade CD for 10.6 from the Apple Online store, OR you can likely get one at an Apple Retail Store.  It is the last version that was available on CD.  After 10.6, the upgrades are available in the Mac App Store.

  • IPhoto quit unexpectedly and now it won't open

I just had to have my OS erased and rewritten on my Macbook Pro at the genius bar yesterday, so today I am restoring all of my files and settings.  I figured out how to open up iPhoto, and while I was backing up the pictures on an external hard drive (just to be sure!), it quit unexpectedly.  The next time I tried to open up iPhoto, the library seemed to have disappeared from my mac, I found the iPhoto app in a really strange location, and when I try to open it, it says that I need to update to the newest version of iPhoto, and when I launch the upgrade, it says: "Unable to write to library 'iPhoto Library" Check that you have permission to write to the library directory. From there the only option is to click "Cancel" and iPhoto shuts down immediately.
I have tried to open the application using the Control + Option method, and have tried to perform every repair & rewrite in the menu, but every time it tells me that I am having permission errors.
    Any advice?

I had the whole library backed up, that's how I was able to open it to begin with, but then once it closed unexpectedly, opening that library just sends me back to the slieu of error messages... I also have the actual photos backed up though, if I could just get iPhoto to open.  It seems like my mail is quitting unexpectedly too...I may need to just bring it back to the Genius bar...

  • My Final Cut Pro X quits unexpectantly and shuts down which makes it impossible to use..need help asap

Went I went to grab some pictures that I had downloaded from the web, FCP X shut down and sent a message to APPLE.  I have tried deleting the pics and this morning it was working for a little while but it shut down again.  I need to get FCP working properly.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. It started after there was a sudden electricity shut off when I was playing with FCP X. I do not have Compressor installed. I eventually managed to get FCPX to work again when I manually deleted in Finder the project on which I was working when the electricity went off.
I hope this information may give you some ideas on your problem.

  • HT2497 My Mac keeps closing Internet. The message states "Safari Web Content quit unexpectedly" and then the window is full of computer jargon. HELP!

I click on the Safari logo, page opens but then quickly after closes and the message "Safari Web Content quit unexpectedly" opens with a whole load of computer jargon below.
    Any ideas how to fix?
    Thanks

This crash is caused by a bug in the way Safari synchronizes with iCloud.
Uncheck the box marked Safari in the iCloud preference pane. You may also need to do as follows.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the text on the line below on this page to the clipboard, then copy it to the Clipboard (command-C):
    ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
    Quit Safari.
    Select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the Finder menu bar. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A folder window should open with a file named "Bookmarks.plist" selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the folder open.
Relaunch Safari. It will open with the default set of bookmarks. Delete them all. Select
    File ▹ Import Bookmarks
from the Safari menu bar. Import from the bookmarks file you moved to the Desktop. Arrange the bookmarks as you wish.
    Select from the menu bar
    History ▹ Clear History
and confirm. As far as I know, you don't need to reset Top Sites, but I'm not sure of that.
You can then try to re-enable Safari in iCloud. It may start to crash again. In that case, you'll have to leave synchronization disabled until a more permanent solution turns up. Sync bookmarks with iOS devices in iTunes instead.

  • I used to use an old e-mail address as my apple id and I changed it ages ago and everything seemed fine but since I've updated to the new software it's showing my old e-mail as the apple id for iCloud and now I can't log in. Can someone please help?!

I've tried to go into manage my account it only has my current e-mail address and I can't click forgot password for the old apple id because that e-mail is no longer active.
    I hope that makes sense..

    Do a backup.
Try System Preferences/iCloud and sign out. Then sign in with your new Apple ID.

I have an iPhone which I added my email address as my apple ID. I have just purchased an iPad which I add my other email address by mistake and now I am unable to stream my photographs. I have tried to change my email on both devises but with out luck as it won't reconise my pass word. Any ideas

Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Tap the ID and sign out. Then sign in with your other ID.
If this isn't working, restart the iPad - AFTER you sign out of the ID and then sign in with the correct ID after the iPad restarts.
There is no reason why you should not be able to sign in with the ID that you are using on the iPhone and use that passord with that ID on the iPad.

Completely compatable, I just upgraded my iPhone through it yesterday. But as these are the Lion Forums, you may be better places posting this in the iPhone Forums as well.

  • TS4095 iPhoto quit unexpectedly and erased imported photos

After recently importing photos from my memory card into iPhoto I opted to erase pictures from memory stick because of limited space. When I clicked erase iPhoto quit unexpectedly and now my photos are not in my library or on the memory stick. Are they gone forever or are they floating around somewhere? Thanks.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
