I inadvertently deleted a lot of unbookmarked tabs so is there a way to get them back?

Immediately after I did I put a copy of places.sqlite from my profile in a safe place. places.sqlite seems to have thousands of urls in it. I am running 3.5.9 on FC11 (yeah I know I should upgrade but can't at the moment). Therefore I don't have "Help > Troubleshooting Information" available to me. Is there anything I can do (like upgrade to 3.6) to get the tabs back or are they gone forever?
Thanks for any help.

Hi cor-el,
Yes I did. It didn't seem to work when just extracted into my home directory. After looking at the two wrapper scripts (firefox and run-mozilla.sh) it looked like it needed to be in /usr/local/lib/firefox-3.6.23 which I did and which works. The problem is that the Help menu is the one for 3.5.9 (including Help > About Firefox says version 3.5.9). Even if I rename the two wrapper scripts and the executable for 3.5.9 I still get the 3.5.9 Help menu. FWIW, my 3.5.9 was packaged in FC11 and the 3.5.9 firefox script is in /usr/bin.
I'm sure I'm just overlooking something obvious but here is some debugging output:
<pre><nowiki>[mike@desktop firefox-3.6.23]$ pwd
/usr/local/lib/firefox-3.6.23
[mike@desktop firefox-3.6.23]$ ./firefox
+ moz_libdir=/usr/local/lib/firefox-3.6.23
+ found=0
+ progname=./firefox
++ dirname ./firefox
+ curdir=.
++ basename ./firefox
+ progbase=firefox
+ run_moz=./run-mozilla.sh
+ test -x ./run-mozilla.sh
+ dist_bin=.
+ found=1
+ '[' 1 = 0 ']'
+ script_args=
+ debugging=0
+ MOZILLA_BIN=firefox-bin
+ '[' linux-gnu = beos ']'
+ pass_arg_count=0
+ '[' 0 -gt 0 ']'
+ '[' 0 = 1 ']'
+ exec ./run-mozilla.sh ./firefox-bin
[mike@desktop firefox-3.6.23]$ </nowiki></pre>
Thanks for any help.
Cheers,
Mike

Contacts are synced with a compatible programme on your computer (Outlook, Windows Contacts, Address book etc) or with a cloud service (iCLoud, Google, Yahoo). Sync your contacts back from wherever you were making the backup of them. If you have not been backing them anywhere, then they are most likely gone.
If you updated the iOS through iTunes and assuming that your photos were present at the time of update and you deleted the photos afterwards; you may try restoring the iPhone from the last backup, provided that you had not synced your iPhone after deleting the photos.

  • Since upgrading from FF 3.x to 8.0.1, I'm experiencing more hangs and crashes. Most recently, FF lost ALL OF MY OPEN TABS. Is there any way to get them back?

I had a TON of browsing history in those tabs and there is NO WAY I could recreate it all manually. Is there any possibility that FF could get them back even though the "Restore Previous Session" menu option is greyed out? BTW, I've had more hangs and crashes with 8.0.1 than with any previous version of Firefox.

Did that inadvertently (can someone at Mozilla tell me if the download procedure has changed? I only wanted to download the new version, not install it right away, but it got installed with no input from me. I DO NOT APPRECIATE THAT. Starting to lose my love of firefox.)
Everything is just GONE. Thanks, firefox team, for nothing.

Also, is there any way to save a group or an open session and then restore it later?

History menu, if it was destroyed in the last session
then use "Restore Previous session:" and then restore all windows also from the history menu.
If done in this session try the restore all windows under the history menu.

The good news, if you purchased the music in iTunes, it is linked to your apple id.  You can re-download the content at no additional charge (as long as it is still available in the iTunes store).

You would have to restore your phone from a backup, if that message was included in the backup.

  • IPod pictures deleted - Is there a way to get them back?

I had clicked cancel by accident when the pop up came after I plugged it in, and I went to just copy them then paste them into a folder in my images, but instead I  accidentally deleted them (accidents are serving me well today), does anyone know of a way to get them back, or am I out of luck?

    - If they are in an iPod backup then restore from that backup. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

I deleted some contacts on my iphone 4 is there a way to retrieve them though previous icloud backups?  I cannot find how to access any previous icloud backups.

  • I accidently deleted a few photos on my iPhone 5c and they are not in deleted photos folder. Is there a way to get them back?

I accadently deleted photos on my iphone 5c and they are not in my deleted photos folder. I did not back up my photos, is there anything I can do to get them back?

restore from a backup dated prior to when you synced to the new computer.
ideally... were you backing up to icloud?  if so, erase all content and settings and restore from a backup in icloud dated prior to when you synced.  Camera roll backs up I believe and those photos will show back up

  • I lost a lot of my contacts when I updated my iphone yesterday.  Is there a way to get them back and save them so they will not be lost when I update again?

When I connected to itunes and updated my iphone, a lot of my contacts were removed.  Why and can I get them back without having to do this by hand again?

Download the free app My Contacts Backup and use it to back up the contacts on your device now (it will back them up as an attachment to an email that you send to yourself).  Then restore your device to your most recent backup to see if it will recover your contacts.  If not, if necessary you can open the email and tap the attachment to re-import the contacts you have now back to your device.
If you need to restore to an iCloud backup this has to be done in the initial setup process, which requires you to first erase your device.  If you have any more recent data on your device now that is not in the backup that you want to save you'll need to do that first.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  You will then go through the setup screens on your device, and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup (see image below).  Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.

  • I have some pics that I inadvertently put on quick time.  Is there any way to get them back into my album without them being a movie

I have inadvertently put some pics of my vacation on quick time.  How can I get them back into my photo album as regular pics?

I think there is an option to save a screen/snap-shot or "Still" in quicktime.

  • HT201269 I just synced my new iphone through itunes and it deleted my new pictures.  is there any way to get them back?

I just syned my new iphone through itunes and it deleted all of my new pictures.  is there anyway to get them back?

Do you sync your iPhone with iTunes every once in a while? If yes, there are chances that iTunes has taken last backup of your photos, contacts, etc. that you want back.
Connect your iPhone with your PC. launch iTunes, right click on your device and click on "Restore from Backup". Choose the latest backup to proceed.
If you configured iCloud for backup before you restored your iPhone. Go to Settings -> iCloud -  > and login using your Apple ID. Once you've logged in, all the photos, contacts, mail, messages should be back on your iPhone. This may take a while (depending on your network).
Alternatively, if you are only now setting up your iPhone, choose 'Restore from iCloud Backup' in the setup screen. Login with Apple ID and the iPhone will be restored from the latest iCloud backup.

  • Deleted photos, is there a way to get them back?

I recently upgraded my old MacBook to a MacBook Pro and transfered all the files using my trusty back up from Time Capsule. I saved the old copy of all my pictures/videos on the desktop opened up iphoto 09 and there they were as if I hadn't let them. I went about deleting the file on the desktop (big mistake), the whole library went so now I have none.
Problem is getting access to Time Capsule again is difficult because I am at Uni now in the other side of the country. Is there a way which I can get access to the back up for free some how?
Alternatively on my iPhone some of the images are there not all as its too small a hard drive, but is there a way I can get them to come out of the events part of photos on the iPhone and save them on the Mac without having to email them over separately one by one?
Thanks for reading and trying to help guys.

There are a couple of apps that will recover the low quality images from your iPod to your Mac:
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/24832/ipod-access-photo is one. But there are others. Search on MacUpdate.
Is there a way which I can get access to the back up for free
There are various apps that will link back to an off-site Mac. Right now I couldn't find any, but my brain is addled a lot of the time. So google 'Mac Remote Access' or similar.
