I inadvertently set the rotation lock device on my i phone.

i inadvertently set the rotation lock device on my i phone.
i see on line how i am supposed to gain access to the device.
1) by tapping twice on home button/then swiping left to reveal controls
(this is not happening for me for some reason)
2) by going on settings to set side switch
(also not happening---i see no related setting)
i'm afraid whatever i did to disengage the rotation also elminated the side switch device entirely.
any thoughts?
thanks for any help...

The location has changed since the installation of the new iOS. Go to the Control Center. You get there by swiping upwards from the bottom of the screen. Once you see the Control Center, the orientation lock is the on the top row, the last icon on the right. White is on, black is off.

  • HT4623 SOMEHOW the icon for rotation lock is missing from the control bar. I tried to reset but my passcode doesn't work. First, how do I find my passcode? Then, if I reset, will it return the rotation lock to the control bar?

I don't know how it happened why, but the icon for rotation lock is missing from the control bar. Second problem, the passcode for my iPad isn't working. I wrote it down, so not sure what the problem is. HELP

If the setting for the rotation lock is missing it is because you are using the side switch to control the rotation in Settings>General>Use Side Switch to>Lock Rotation. The software switch in the control center should be for Muting system sounds.
you have to restore the iPad in orde to unlock it now.
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong ...
If you are sure that you are entering the correct passcode, reboot the iPad and then try again and see if it is accepted.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • I was in a Pages Doc and inadvertently had the Caps Lock on. How Can I change all the text I typed from Upper Case to Lower Case?

I was in a Pages Doc and inadvertently had the Caps Lock on. How Can I change all the text I typed from Upper Case to Lower Case?

    Several protocols may be used.
Here I describe two of them.
    (1) the one which I use : install and use the "Convert to Lowercase" service available in the free WordService
    (2) copy your text, paste in TextEdit and enter the Edit menu.
I guess that you will recognize the items in your English menu.
I apologize but I don't know the English items.

  • Downloaded the app Top 100 Hits. Set the auto lock to never.  Sound stops in 30 seconds, what can I do to correct this?

Downloaded the app Top 100 Hits.  Set the auto lock to "never".  Sounds stops in 30 seconds.  What can I do to correct this.  MaNUAL DOESN'T EXPLAIN.

I advise to reply to the one you want to reply to.
You have had good information here. I will not repeat that here.
    I would like to add:
you have incompatible software: start in SafeMode, read Woodmeister and see if it is free of issues.
Akamai is crap software needed or not, Huawei the same.
It is very possible that the keygenerator you used for generating a key for some softwares has infected your mac.
The non-regular software with the false key(s) are not compatible probably or generate malware. Luckily you can not update them automatically because the keygenerator blocked the software for contacting the developer... I propose to consider getting rid of those softwares by really good uninstalling.
You have a beautiful mac, don't degenerate it with crapped software. There are alternatives for expensive software, for example Adobe Photoshop has a free alternative (with a less beautiful interface) in GIMP. And so on.

  • IPhone 4 how do I turn off the rotation lock.

How do you turn off the rotation lock.

This typifies the difference between Cook and Jobs. Poor execution of a simple feature. Dumb and thoughtless. As cliche as it may be Apple isn't exceptional without Steve. Perhaps only Johnny Ives can deliver us something as great as Jobs. I laugh as my iphone starts to become irrelevant. ?

  • For those unhappy about the rotation lock change

Apple evidently heard all the complaints about the change in the rotation lock in iOS4. On the new ipad you can choose:
Customize the switch on the side of your iPad to lock the screen rotation or mute the volume. So you can lock your iPad display in landscape or portrait. Or quickly go from volume on to volume off. Just configure the side switch in Settings to toggle between your options.
This is listed as an iOS 4.3 feature, so it may be coming back to the original ipad, too, I hope.

I want to get my rotation switch back through osmosis. I don't want no stinkin' upgrade to down load. AAUUGGGGHHHH/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
    OK enough.

it is not off but the screen still will not rotate
Well, if it's not off, that means it's on.  So naturally it will still not roate.

  • My iPad screen won't rotate. The rotation lock is not on and it is out of warranty. What should I do?

My iPad screen won't rotate. The rotation lock is not on and it is out of warranty. I downloaded a gyroscope app and it says that I am always at 0 degrees. What should I do?

    Hi,
There are three things you can do.
    1) Check the function of the side switch - in the Settings app, under General.
    2) Try a reset by holding the on/off and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears.
    3) If this fails, take it to an Apple Store.
Hope this helps and Happy Holidays!

  • HT4085 Is there any way I can have the rotation lock off but not have to set my iPad to mute?

For some reason my iPad has done something strange, either I have to lock the rotation or mute some of the sounds....I didn't have to do either of these before, is there anyway I can have both working at the same time?

I have posted this many times in order to try to help users understand how this works. Hopefully, it will make things clearer for you.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • TS4006 I set the remote lock then I recovered my ipad .. how do I unlock it

I was sure I lost my ipad2 and other stuff so I did the remote lock to keep private data private. The ipad2 was recovered with everything in the case inact. Wow never expected such honesty, rewarded finder. Now how do I undo the remote lock or will I have a chance to enter the 4 digit code and have evrythin back again. Find my iphone (ipad/mac) sure made some bad thoughts less troubling. If I can't undo it is ok also as I can re-nstall everything or just start fresh and let my daughter have the Ipad2.... reason to get new ipad.  Thanks for looking and helping out.
    Boz

Duh... you just enter in the four digit code that you set when you remote locked.... that was too easy but sure a nice easy solution ... sorry for the "dumb" bunny question , but it is nice knowing if I hadn't solved my own question you all would have solved it for me thanks.

  • After current update the rotate lock locks in landscape mode..

Ive tried restarted my phone and such and doesnt seem to help. After the current update 10.3.1.1581. When i turn my rotation lock on it rotates my view in the hub or anything to landscape and locks it there instead of portrait. Quite annoying.

Turn rotation lock off, while not ideal I found that at least when the phone is held in portrait orientation the apps display in portrait, there is a knowledge base article about this, sorry I don't have the link to hand. But they are aware of the issue but no fix as yet.

  • I inadvertently set the wrong home address on the reminders app

When setting up the reminders app on my wife's iphone (the cause of roughly half of all iproblems), I set the wrong address for home.  Can this be changed?

    Thanks for your help,
I found the settings under my infor (Verizon Iphone 4 running 5.0.1 by the way), but I didn't see her info.  Do you have to actually make a contact for yourself on your phone (or my wife on hers in this case)?

  • I can't seem to rotate my screen while the rotation lock is turned off, how can I fix this for an iPod 5?

I tried to restart my iPod and reset it but my screen still won't rotate what should I do?

Are you trying with an app that support rotation? Not all apps support rotation. Safari does support rotation.
    If that does not rotate
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
