I instaledd Firefox 12.0 and a annoying sound of a telephone ringing won't stop!!

I have a MacBook Pro and today it updated Firefox to the most recente version. After installation it started to make a sound like a old telephone ringing, it does that every 10 seconds, what is it and how does it stop???

Start Firefox in -> [[Safe Mode]] to check if your add-ons/extension are causing the problem.
* Also see this article -> [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
Check and tell if its working.
May not be related to your problem but some of your Firefox Plugins are out-dated, so you need to Update them.

hi, my firefox and safari are both having difficulty loading certain parts of web pages. previous to this my firefox would freeze and state that a script was not responding. i would stop the script and reload the page and everything would be fine. now though the pages just load very very slowly or load leaving out certain pictures and video content. i've tried clearing my cache's and cookies, resetting my browser etc, but it seems like its a system issue as both safari and firefox are having issues. i've run Avast to screen for malware and it came up empty. any suggestions?

10.4.8's been a pain for Networking... not sure of all the reasons though, or whether all the complaints might not be MS working around Bugs/Non-compliance, but at this point I think you should get Applejack...

I have an iPhone 6 with ios 8.1.1 operating system. The Bluetooth pairs with my Sony car radio and works fine. However, the iPhone will not stop searching for other devices. This does not seem to affect anything, but I can't help but think it is using battery power.

    One possibility:
How do you know it is searching for other devices?  Because you opened Settings > Bluetooth?
Why is it searching for other devices? Because you opened Settings > Bluetooth?

  • Firefox is frozen and will not close but I want to un-install it. HELP!

Firefox was open and an error message. Unresponsive script running, continue or stop script? All options were frozen I was not able and still not able to close firefox or any tabs from it, it has been frozen for two days. Is there an easy command line to just close the application?

You can close Firefox through the Terminal if it refuses to close through Firefox > Quit<br>
You can open the Terminal by searching for it on the Spotlight (top right corner, magifying glass)
Once open, you can run this command to kill the Firefox process:
    *kill -9 $(ps -x | grep firefox)
I'm not a Mac user but that command works for me in Ubuntu.
To figure out what's causing the unresponsiveness, you can try to start Firefox in Safe Mode. To start Firefox in Safe Mode, just do the following:
*Clikc the Help menu on the menu bar and select Restart with Add-ons disabled.
*Click Start in Safe Mode to the dialogue box that comes up.
    Safe Mode disables the following:
    *Extensions
    *Default theme is used
*userChrome.css and userContent.css files are ignored
    *default toolbar is used
    *Hardware acceleration is disabled.

    Every time Firefox opened
== I opened firefox today, and it won't stop.

It's just the Google homepage tribute to Pacman turning 30 today. A playable game starts up automatically, use the arrow keys to move Pacman. It's fun!
You can get Ms Pacman to appear in that game by clicking the "insert coin" button twice and using the WASD keys to move :)
You can also just change your homepage to something other than google until tomorrow.

  • How do I uninstall Firefox Beta and re-install Firefox NOT-Beta, and save all of my bookmarks?

The constant updates associated with being a beta user are getting really annoying, and I want to opt out. Is it as easy as uninstalling, downloading the latest update of regular Firefox? Will all of my bookmarks and settings be saved?

Yes, you can uninstall the Firefox beta release and install the full version of the current Firefox 9.0.1 to change the update channel from beta to release.<br />
Firefox 10 will be released at the end of this month.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data because all profile folders will be removed.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 9.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a (re)install, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Every time i try to start firefox or try and do anything within it I get "TypeError: gILTFFObj is undefined" Please help as this only happened since the new upgrade was offered

We were offered the new upgrade, so went ahead and completed the upgrade. Since then every time we open firefox, or try and do anything with it after it's open, such as clicking links or trying to browse the following message comes up: "TypeError: gILTFFObj is undefined" Don't know what this is but it is very annoying.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 20.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will lose all personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

  • Plugin-container cause OS to pause and its annoying

I have windows 7 on Dell d620, I have seen my browser pause regularly as the plugin-container eats CPU cycles as seen in process explorer. IE9 does not do this and it is annoying. I have been on Firefox since version 1 and the 3.x upgrade that introduced plugin-container has given me gyp ever since, plugins crash and the pause as described. I have rebuild my OS and the problem is the same and I have seen this on more than one PC. Please can you do something about this

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • When I have all Firefox windows minimized, and am using another program or am idle, the Firefox windows keeping randomly popping up. How can I stop this behaviour?

I'm running Windows 7 and Firefox 6.0.2. When I have all Firefox windows minimized and am working in another program, the Firefox windows just randomly open in front of my other app and interrupt me. I have to minimize them again. It is extremely distracting and annoying, and often interrupts in the middle of something important. How can I stop Firefox from doing this?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Firefox too slow and frequntly unresponsive on Windows 8.1

    Hi,
I recently bought a Dell Inspiron i7 that is 2 GHz with 8 GB of ram. It works fine but while using firefox it becomes sluggish, lags every now and then such that I am unable to scroll pages or anything on firefox for that matter. I used to have Windows 7 on my previous laptop and it used to work well. All other softwares work fine by only firefox has this behavior. I dont want to change browser and am looking for a solution to this sluggish behavior of firefox on this system. Your prompt response will be highly valuable.

There are no duplicate add ons on my firefox. Graphics drivers are upto date. Have also checked after disabling hardware acceleration but no use. I am monitoring the resource usage but at low usage too it hangs though not that frequently. Around 500 MB ram usage it starts hanging more frequently. Once it crosses 600 and I keep using the memory usage goes up to 900 pretty quickly. I cant figure out if it is an issue with my OS or firefox. It is really annoying to restart firefox every now and then. Even at low memory usage ~350MB the working of firefox is not smooth.

  • I am on windows 7 and I upgraded to 10.0.2 and now it will not open. I have removed firefox completely and uploaded it again and that did not work. So my latest attempt I removed firefox 10 again and uploaded the beta version and once again nothing.

I am on windows 7 and I upgraded to the newest verison of firefox and now it will not open. I have removed firefox completely and uploaded it again and that did not work. I then made sure it could get through my firewall and that did not work. So my latest attempt I removed firefox 10 again and uploaded the beta version hoping that would do it and once again nothing. It will not open at all. Please help - is there a live chat or a number to talk to someone at Firefox?

I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.
