I install compatibility reporter in my Mozilla firefox 5 running under Windows 7 and get message - TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined, what is causing it please?

I am having to install Compatibility reporter so that Google toolbars will work. This used to be ok, but now I am getting the message-TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined. I am running under Windows 7 any idea how |I can get round it please?

If you force an extension to install by overriding the compatibility then the result can be unpredicted.<br />
The extension may work or may not work or cause error messages like you posted.<br />
You always need to be careful with forcing extensions to install.
You may need to check extensions.checkCompatibility prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.

  • Since installing Firefox 4, I keep getting this message "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined" when a window should open. Also print and print preview don't work properly anymore.

Since installing the newest version of Firefox, This message "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined" appears in a box when a new window should open. Also, what you see in print print preview is not what prints.

This type of error is usually caused by an add-on you are using that is not compatible. It could be anything from an antivirus link scanner like AVG Safe Search add-on, or McAfee Site Advisor add-on, or something similar. To confirm what add-on is causing this use the procedure in this link:
    https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Try Disabling the last add-on that was installed prior to upgrading to version 5.0
Check and tell if its working.

  • Get error "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined" and can't load web pages. Problem with Firefox 5?

I tried repeatedly to load Firefox 5. The Error "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined" keeps coming up. The browser loads but any URL I enter doesn't load. Sites activated by buttons do load. Internet Explorer works.

07-05-11 When I turned on my laptop (Vista) this morning, I got a Start in Safe Mode and Repair message so I did. It suggested a System Restore, I hit OK. When it started like normal, I waited a few minutes then TRIED to launch Firefox 5.0 but kept getting a Mozilla Crash Report dialogue. So I instead opened Firefox 4.0b12 --error free-- so I could get here to get help. When I tried the Run... firefox.exe -profilemanager step, I get the subject error. When I try to open FF 5.0 in Safe Mode by holding down the shift key simultaneously, I get the subject error and no launch (though no Crash box either). I will try to let the FF 5.0 Updater run when it appears again but it never lets me choose when to Ask Again so I don't think it'll show again until tomorrow. Sigh. Oh, and like someone at a different version of this error blog re WinVista 32bit, now I'm getting the issue of Enter not executing the URL typed in the address bar; I had to click the arrow.
I hope the Update is to fix this problem.

  • Recently downloaded Firefox 4. Now when loading it, I get this Java Console Message: TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined I click OK and everything works OK, but this didn't happen before.

Please tell me how I can get rid of a Java Console Msg. every time I load Firefox 4 (which I just updated to). This box pops up when trying to load Firefox: TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined. I have to click on OK before it will load. ANNOYING. This didn't happen until I updated to Firefox 4.

That indicates that you have an add-on that is not compatible with Firefox 4. To find out which one, use the procedure in this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

  • When I launch Firefox 4.0 I get the following message "TypeError: Components.classes[cid]is undefined. How do I fix this?

When I click "ok" the pop up window clears and FireFox opens. I believe this error is also preventing Privacy Protect from activating in FireFox.

  • When I open Firefox, the browser does not open. Instead I get a small window that says: TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined. How do I fix this?

I tried to uninstall AVG antiviral software, but it did not uninstall. Next, when I try to open Firefox I get a box popup that says:
    TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined.
If I click OK in that box, I can then open Firefox.
Also I can no longer update Java.
    Help!

Possibly you have "AVG Safe search" extension installed as part of "AVG Free", solution involves reinstalling :AVG Free" without the Link Scanner component see

  • Firefox 4.0 displays an error code when launching: "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined", add-ons doesn't work and I can't open any web pages

    Hello
I've been running Firefox 3.6.16 with no problems at all, and this morning decided to upgrade to Firefox 4.0, as the developer of the them I use, Foxscape, has upgraded it to work with 4.0. The installation appeared to be as normal, but when I launched 4.0, the following error message appeared: error "when launching firefox 4.0 TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined". The browser launched, but while I could go to webpages if they were in my bookmarks, so no problems with my internet connection, but when I typed in a URL (for example google.co.uk) and pressed "go", nothing happened. Similarly, when I tried to go to add-ons, it was as if I hadn't clicked anything. I wondered whether it was an issue with Foxscape (although I've never had any problems before when upgrading, as the standard theme just appears) so I reverted to 3.6.16, switched the theme to standard, then tried upgrading to 4.0 again. The same thing happened, so I'm positive it's got nothing to do with Foxscape.
I run Windows Vista Home Edition on a Dell Inspiron. I also have IE 9 installed (I installed it a few weeks ago, and it's been running fine with 3.6.16). I've never had any problems with Firefox before; I'm very keen to upgrade to 4.0, and would appreciate your help in fixing this.
    Thanks

  • After I downloaded Firefox 4 and I try to open Firefox, I get this error message, "plug-in object: TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined". I click "OK"; Firefox opens and works just fine. Any suggestions??

Not much to add. Before Firefox will open, I get this error message, "plug-in object: TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined". I click the "OK" button; Firefox opens and I have no further problems.
I use an Apple with OS v. 10.6.7 and had no problems until I downloaded Firefox 4.0

  • What can I do about this: After upgrading to firefox 6, I get this error. TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined???

What can I do about this:
After upgrading to firefox 6, I get this error.
When I click to open Firefox, A box open with the following error:
    JAVASCRIPT Application
    TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined?
After I click close on the box, then Firefox will start. I really just want to get the error fixed so that when I want firefox open, I don't have to see this box anymore.

You need to figure out which add-on is causing that error and disable it until the developer of that add-on fixes it. There may be an error message about that in the Error Console, accessed through the Web Developer menu item or through {Ctrl + Shft + J}.

upgraded firefox a couple of days ago now i get this error message, and the upgrade file starts to download again.

This type of error is usually caused by an add-on you've installed. It could be anything from an antivirus link scanner like AVG Safe Search, or McAfee Site Advisor, or something similar.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.
