With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?

When MobileMe goes down the drain, you will need to move your website to standard hosting. Depending on your site size, I recommend A Small Orange, as the Tiny hosting plan they have is big enough for most iWeb sites and much cheaper then shelling out $6 a month for most of the other big names, and if you check out their forum, several of the members have coupon codes in thier signatures. Also, their customer service is great and very fast in getting back to you.
To upload, I publish the iWeb site to a folder, then using Cyberduck upload it to the host. Cyberduck beats iWeb's FTP uploader because Cyberduck only replaces updated pages, instead of uploading the entire site.

Should Apple remove FaceTime as a preloaded app on their iOS 6 and offer it as a FREE download on the app store to prevent AT&T from forcing its customers to change data plans?

So AT&T states they are legally allowed to restrict the use of FaceTime over cellular data solely based on the fact that the FaceTime feature is a preloaded app on the device not a downloaded one. I say we request that Apple remove it as a preloaded App and offer it as a Free download on the App store to accommodate it's customers from having to deal with greedy corporations that implement unfair and unlawful rules on their devices.

Firefox 5.0.1 would cause my Free Download Manager to be disabled because it is not compatibl with the new version. What ones are compatible and free?

I have received a pop-up advisory from Firefox several times, saying that my Free Download Manager is not compatible with the recommended 5.0.1 upgrade and wold have to be disabled until the compatibility problem was corrected.
(I think that I did download it, and that was when I got the first warning. I visited my download m manager shortly afterward, and all my download history had disappeared. I think that I then reversed the upgrade.)
Since then, my emails will load only in Basic HTML, which I have several problems with. I don't know if that is a Google or a Firefox problem.
So, my initial problem is that I need a reliable and easy to use free downloader before I can upgrade and get my Standard HTML back.

I have had this problem for a while since I did a previous Firefox update, where I had to force Gmail to load in Basic HTML else it's next to impossible to use it. The solution is this: simply update your Java, and Gmail will work without a problem using Standard HTML. To update your Java go here: http://www.java.com/en/ and select "Free Java Download".
And beta normally, universally, means "the not quite there yet version of the version we're aiming for" NORMALLY used during production and testing of a type of software.

Why doesn't my custom download manager get launched by Safari?

Hi all,
I'm working on a download manager for Leopard, Snow Leopard and possibly Tiger. It's a single window app that should get launched when the browser downloads a file with a custom extension, similar to the way the Amazon MP3 Downloader works with *.amz files.
My test app is set up to handle ".mytype" files and gets launched as expected when you double-click a ".mytype" file in the Finder or download one with Firefox.
Unfortunately, Safari just downloads the file and never launches my app. I can double-click on the file in Safari's Downloads window and it launches my app, but I need it to launch automatically.
Any hints or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the folder monitoring idea. I'd still like to get the original problem solved, but that might be an acceptable workaround.
The download manager is for a commercial product. All the examples of folder actions that I found involved the user selecting the folder and the script that gets executed. Is this process scriptable by my install program, even if the user has folder actions disabled?
Another option might be using the WatchPaths option in LaunchAgents and have it launch my program when a new ".mytype" file is detected.
I'm pretty new to Mac programming (unix background) - what would be the pros and cons of LaunchAgents vs. Folder Actions?
Also, I know that "~/Downloads" is the standard location to save downloaded files, but what if the user changes it to a different folder in Safari Preferences?
Regarding the original problem...
"Open safe files after downloading" is checked in my Safari preferences.
Since I will be distributing the program I don't want to go mucking about with overriding the built-in list of safe file types.
Would it make sense to write a Safari plugin to handle the custom file types? The sample plugins that I looked at all deal with the custom types in the context of the browser page (like a movie viewer), but I want to launch an external application to handle the file. Is that possible? Or is watching the Downloads folder for new files a better approach?

Take out of that what you will. Personally I doubt Adobe will drop XP support for their Creative Suite yet but the writing is on the wall and it don't look good, Belshazzar.

Just remember, the Lightroom team is really not the same as the Photoshop or InDesign teams, and Lightroom is a much less mature product. It doesn't have a huge installed base of large enterprise clients who care a lot about compatibility with older OSes. It is much easier for Lightroom to drop XP than it is for the Creative Suite products.

I installed Firefox4 and I get an error message everyday about the platform version incompatibility of the XUL, which forces me to re-install firefox everyday.

Since I installed Firefox 4 I keep on getting the error "Platform version 2.0 not supported with...". Is there any way to update the XUL file? I do re-instalations everyday (after the re-instal, firefox runs smooth)

Do a clean (re-)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 4.0: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

I tried downloading the Lion 10.7 software and contacted customer support thinking I needed an upgrade to a higher processor speed.
He stated I needed to download using an eternet cable rather than wireless.
So, I connected the cables and the software upgrade which I paid for began to download.
He stated it would takle about 2 - 3 hours for the download to complete. Somehow the download is paused, no pun intended,
and I cannot get the paused to un pause.
I logged onto my account and the apple store doesn't have a record of the transaction.
So, how do I download the software I paid for?

Since installing Snow Leopard, FCP doesn't support second display

I'm running the new Mac Mini and have an LCD TV connected to the second port. I could edit before in FCP and the second screen would display whatever I selected in FCP (browser or canvas). Now it's not working. In View --> Video Playback, the second monitor isn't available.
Does anyone else have this experience?

It may have better luck working with any video that is MPEG-4 since Realplayer adopted that format.

Microsoft Silverlight offers additional video support that is operating system specific, which you'd need to check the version is compatible with your operating system.

We are a bank in Germany and we have a MIDP2.0 banking application. The customers of these named mobiles bought those due to the believe they can use our application because they state MIDP2.0-compatibilty - but they aren't.
The same with Samsung Z105.
HTTPS works with Nokia 6600, 6230, Sony P900 and Treo 600.

Yes, at the moment we are selling our banking accounts with Nokia 6600 and 6230 because they are the best mobiles to use with https and midp2.0.
You can also use P900 or Treo 600 but not the new Siemens generation or K700.
We call the price modell "Cologne Mobile Account" and seems to become successfull modell.
What you've used is https. SX1 is MIDP1.0 and because of that it insn't supported.
