I installed ios6 on my iPad3 and now all my calendar items are gone, how do I get them back? I tried deleting my account and adding it back I. Still no calendar

I Installed ios6 on my iPad and now all my calendar items are gone.  I tried deleting my email account and adding it back in but still no calendar items

I had the same problem on my iphone 4s and before I had realized it my phone synced up with my computer and deleted  all the appointments in my outlook calendar as well.  I run microsoft exchange and unfortunately my ISP doesnt backup for me so I am left reconstructing my calendar from scratch. Apple support said they had no idea why this had happened and couldnt help me.  Not very reassuring.
