I installed itunes 11. It takes 100% of cpu and GUI is not responsive for minutes at a time. Keystrokes are lost in the search box because of this. This worked fine in previous release. I have 4300 albums and 70k songs.

I have an itunes library of 4000+ albums and 70k+ songs. Worked great until itunes 11 today. Now, when ever I go to the search field and type 1 character, I go to 100% CPU busy and all the other characters are lost. "itunes not responding" for a couple of minutes.
Also happens when I am importing a CD from physical media, and I switch to music and try and find another album. Gui becomes unresponsive and activity monitor ends up reporting "Itunes (not responding)".
How go I go back to the working itunes?

Thanks. That was it I don't know why it got changed during the upgrade to iTunes 11.
However, it still takes 5-10 seconds for this menu to appear, with the cpu at 100% one core. Seems like iTunes should support multi-threaded/multi-core processing, especially for the GUI.

Well here is the issue, as I said, my husband is deployed and he is the one that will be trying to access it. I have the mac book here with me. He has an iphone,ipad, and a windows based laptop with him... Is there a way for him to access it with these devices, to include the windows laptop?
If all of this works can I load pics and movies on it and him be able to access them and then watch the movies?

I have loaded firefox 4, and every time I open a new tab the curser ends up in the navigation area instead of the search box - very frustrating. It didn't used to happen.

If you want a specific webpage (like the Google page) to always open when you open a New Tab, you can use the following add-on to Open New Tabs with your Favorite Pages:

Why doesn't the option "open new windows in a new tab instead" work in the newest version of Firefox when it worked fine in previous versions?

In previous versions when using Google search and clicking on a link it would open in a new tab. Now it opens on top of the Google search preventing a comparison of two links by switching from one tab to another.

If you select a word or phrase, then right-click you should get the option to search for that word or phrase. It will use the search engine that is currently selected in the [[search bar]].

Installed itunes 10.5.2 on my laptop and now it only runs in safe mode HELLLLP!!!

I installed itunes 10.5.2 on my laptop and when it rebooted after it said that it could not connect to my ipod because of something to do with "apple mobile device" I tried unsuccessfully to find an answer and whilst trying to find an anwer my laptop froze and crashed and everything said it was not responding that was when it actually opened anything.
I've found the solution to get it to connect to the mobile devices however my laptop will only run in safe mode and i cant fix the problem in safe mode!!
My question is if I uninstall and reinstall itunes will i lose all my playlists? or does anyone have a solution to fix my itunes????????

I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. If you want to transfer the music, check out the article below that will give you multiple options on how to move. I have also provided on how to sync with multiple computers.

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.

When I have finished working on an image in Photoshop and I hit the save button it goes instead to the "save as" screen. This never happened in previous Photoshop versions. When I get to Lightroom, I have a grey screen the says "File could not be found."

When I select the correct image, I get a message that it is not the same file name but I am eventually able to access the image. Needless to say this is having a negative impact on workflow!

The problem with write permissions for the OneDrive folder only shows up in Lightroom 6's export dialogue, that's why it's to irritating. Lightroom 5.7.1 is not having that problem nor does the file explorer. The problem also exists on both of my machines. Apple doesn't sell iWork that way anymore.
You have to get it from the Mac App Store if you want to purchase from Apple, or purchase a disk from a software retailler like Amazon. They're quite cheap online now.
If you do purchase an iWork '09 disk, you will need to trash the trial copy and any plist files it has generated before you install it.
