I installed latest software updates today and now iphoto won't work at all - heeelllppp!

Hello
i installed latest software updates today and since then iphoto will not work at all.  The window oens but it remains blank, and when I go to force quit it says iphoto not responding, so it's as if it's crashing on startup.  I can't access my photo library or put new photos in the library from my camera, in fact I can't do anything at all with it.
I am in Africa a long way from home and tech support, so please can anyone help me??  Im a bit desperate as my whole photo library is inaccessible, and it will be months before I am back in the UK.
I am not hugeley techie so plain English please.
Thanks

Did software update today and now IPhoto is not working.  Operating system is OS X Yosemite 10.10.3

What OS X version did you upgrade from? What iPhoto version did you have before upgrading? You cannot upgrade a version of iPhoto from a pre-10.10.2 OS X version installation. You needed iPhoto 9.6.1.

  • TS1538 Why won't my iPhone 5 apple device connect to apple itunes store? I updated iOS7 and now it won't work. All my music does appear on the phone, but a playlist I created won't update. . Help!?!?!

Before I upgraded to IOS7 I could connect my iPhone5 with my computer but it won't let me do it now

Without the Apple ID and passcode that was used to originally activate the device you will not be able to use it ever. This is Activation Lock, a feature of iOS 7. See this support document. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5818
Without that information, that device is nothing more than a fancy paperweight and no one, including Apple will be able to activate it.

Yes, connect to your computer with the latest version of iTunes installed and restore it. If it doesn't show up in iTunes when you connect it see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • Updated itunes and now it won't work

I just updated my itunes and now it says that my copy of itunes is corrupted or did not install properly. I had no problems earlier today when using itunes and I have no idea what the problem could be.

    Hi vargack!
I have an article here for you that may provide some relevant information to your issue. This article deals with all manner of installation issues with iTunes, and can be found right here:

  • Update failed and now system won't work. Itunes update. Running Windows 7-64 Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Asks if I have priviledges

System was running fine until the update

    Hello jackhennessy,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update.  I recommend following the steps below as an administrator:
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
When you get to the step to uninstall iTunes, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.  You can find the full article here:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open

I recommend the following article if you continue to receive an error:

  • Installed iDVD from iLife 11 and now iPhoto won't open

Despite the decree from Apple that physical media is dead, I still wanted to make a DVD of something I made in iMovie but I could not find iDVD anywhere on my 2011 Mac Mini. Since iDVD was available in the App Store, I bought a copy of iLife '11 from Amazon and installed iDVD only (everything else was greyed out, except iWeb which I deselected). Now I can no longer open iPhoto! I can't remember the exact dialog box warning, but something about being damaged (I'm away from my Mac). I ran software update and there was an update for iDVD which I installed. I've restarted, I've repaired permissions, and nothing works. I've tried holding down Option while opening iPhoto but it still says it's damaged or incomplete.

In order to burn DVDs which are playable in DVD players (and TV), you need authoring/burning software - Finder cannot do that. It can burn DVDs which will play in computers, but not in DVD players. And yes, there are other burn software solutions; however, not one is close to the capabilities of iDVD.
For the OP: How did you initially obtain iPhoto? I would do a systemwide search and throw anything with iPhoto in the trash (don't empty!) - then reinstall iPhoto from the Mac App Store (if that is where you got it initially). If you can get past those hiccups, iDVD works well with both Lion and Mountain Lion; I have it installed and just finished a big movie project with it.

  • HT204150 Installed latest iCloud version today and now Outlook can't send emails any more

Somehow the iCloud plugin in Outlook marks every email in the out-tray as "not ready to send".
But only when the out-tray is being displayed. Hence one workaround would be to have any other
    tray/folder open while sending emails.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
For now, I disabled the iCloud PlugIn and can send emails again.

    Uninstall iCloud, reboot, reinstall iCloud.

  • HELP!! Updated iTunes and now it won't work

I just updated itunes & quicktime. I can't open itunes, it tells me that I need to have quicktime 7.0.3. which I do. It tells me to reinstall which I've done 3 times.
    Help!!!
    Thank you!

    hello Illinois!
I can't open itunes, it tells me that I need to have quicktime 7.0.3. which I do.
hmmm. is that message saying that you have 7.0d0 installed?
if so, what we're going to try is a careful standalone QT 7.0.4 install. (that's the version of QT which you are supposed to be getting in an itunes 6.0.2.23, 6.0.3.5 or, as of this afternoon, an itunes 6.0.4.2 installer bundle.)
download and save the QT 7.0.4 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
if the standalone QT install goes through okay, will your itunes launch properly?
    love, b

iPhoto is missing bits of itself and you need to reinstall it.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • I upgraded Safari, and now it won't work at all.

I have 10.3.9 and upgraded to Safari 4, which I found out too late is not compatible. It used to be you couldn't even install software that wasn't. Anyway, after I went through the whole process, I clicked to start up Safari, and it won't open. It acts like it will, but it doesn't. Now, I can't figure out how to download old Safari. I did go through all the suggestions on here about getting rid of history and things like that. Any other suggestions?

    HI,
Safari version 4 requires that your Mac OS X is running Tiger 10.4.11
Safari 4 for Mac OS X requires Mac OS X Leopard® version 10.5.6 and Security Update 2009-001 or Mac OS X Tiger® version 10.4.11, a minimum 256MB of memory, and is designed to run on any Intel-based Mac or a Mac with a PowerPC G5, G4 or G3 processor and built-in FireWire®. Safari 4 for Windows requires Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista, a minimum 256MB of memory and a system with at least a 500 MHz Intel Pentium processor. Full system requirements and more information on Safari 4 can be found at www.apple.com/safari.
    From here... http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2009/02/24safari.html
*"Now, I can't figure out how to download old Safari"*
Insert your original Mac install disk and reinstall the Safari application from the Optional Installs package.
Always make sure the hard drive has sufficient space available.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.
