Try this for Windows 7 (64 bit),
Close iTunes - Go to Task Manager – Click the “Services” tab - select “Apple Mobile Device” - left click and choose “Stop Service” - wait a few seconds - left click and choose “Start Service” - wait a few seconds - open iTunes - connect your iDevice.
Did it work?

I attempted to install the new version of Itunes and I keep getting a R6034 error.  What do I do?

    Hi davemac123,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend removing and reinstalling iTunes using these steps:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

  • I just installed the new version of iTunes and it wiped my entire library. Is there a way that I can restore it?

So basically when I installed the new version of iTunes and reopened the program it was as if I started brand new. All of my playlists, songs, and podcasts no longer exsisted. Is there a way to restore everything back to normal? I still have all of the files on my comp, but re importing them wont bring back my playlists...

    Hey Debbiered1,
Follow the steps in this link to resolve the issue:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
When you uninstall, the items you uninstall and the order in which you do so are particularly important:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.

  • Can't install newer versions of iTunes and can't un-install current version

    HELP!
That's a good start to my first post I think lol... hey at least I'm still laughing, even though I feel like crying!
I am having (probably similar to many from what I can see from this forum and also from google search) problems updating my iTunes to the latets version.
Whenever I start to install the new version I get a message pop up saying that iTunes64.msi can't be located, even though it does exist in the default filepath it throws up anyway.
After doing some Google searches I saw that a way around this might be to use the Windows Unintaller Utility, however, I have yet to actually find this utility, particularly as Microsoft now appear to have removed all traces of it from their site as it seemd to be causing other issues.
Next I found an article on Apple that said that if I am having the problems that I have stated above then I should unistall various apple software items in a particular order with iTunes being the first on the list.
This is where I am now stuck! I can't un-install iTunes from Control Panel as it says that it isn't installed! Of course it is installed, however, it would appear that something somewhere is corrupt and it doesn't actually think it is really installed (I think my PC is suffering a sual personality... maybe that's what dual core really means lol).
The corrupt nature of my iTunes installation would also seem to be borne out by the fact that the icon in the list of installed programs for iTunes is not the normal icon but a blank (unrecognised) icon.
I am now clean out of ideas as I can't do any of the "normal" things to remove and re-install iTunes and so I could really use some help/advice.

    Hi Katrina
Thanks for confirming my suspicions on the use of (or rather not) of the utility on Windows 7.
I also tried as you suggested to run the iTune64.msi file from it's location... it almost looked like it was working but then came up with the usual message saying it couldn't find the .msi file.
I even tried copying the file to another location but it still hit the usual error
I have a horrible suspicion that I am not going to get this sorted short of doing a complete re-install of my OS (which I don't fancy doing, particularly as at least iTunes is functioning anyway).
I am already planning to move away from Windows PCs and move onto a Mac in the very near future, so hopefully in the intervening time Apple won't release a critical udate to iTunes that means I need to update to continue certain functionality.
    Roll on Mac-Day for methinks
Of course if anyone else can think of any solutions for me to try in the meantime then I would be more than grateful to hear from them and to give it a whirl.

  • Tried to install new version of itunes and getting r6034 error code

This morning I tried to download and install iTunes Version 11.1.4.  I'm getting a R6034 error code RUNTIME ERROR when I go to the "install" phase.  I've already de-installed my old version so I know I've not got any files kicking around.  I even went as far as purchsing PC CLEANER PRO to try to fix the R6034 error code and it's not solving it.  I have the new version sitting in download mode but I'm not able to install it. I get part way through the install and the error code window pops up again.  Any suggestions?

The third party cleaner may have been a bad move... It might make the following harder.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Installed new version of iTunes and now my library is gone.

I installed the latest version of iTunes when I got a prompt on opening iTunes. When the installation was complete, all of my music was gone. I found my library and thought I imported it to my library correctly, but every time I quit iTunes, the next time I open it, I get a library window with only a few songs in it. I have to reimport my itunes music folder. This has happened several times. I'd like iTunes to open with my entire music folder laready in it. Please help.

    This may help.

All of my music and photos reside on this Toshiba hard drive. I successfully had itunes find the hard drive for the library. After I installed updated itunes to mac, the toshiba doesn't mount to any of my computers. (I've tried it on more than one) The light on the drive comes on, but I never see it on my desktop.
