I installed OS X Yosemite

My Photoshop from CS5.5 Design Premium will not open, I get this error.
An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred. photoshop will now exit.
Is there something I can do?

After installing the new Yosemite OS on my iMac I can no longer send email. I can receive email, but not send. I use gmail and can send email on the gmail (google) site, but not on "mail" on my iMac. Any others with this problem? What should we do?

My gmail, which is correctly configured for Mail with gmail SMTP and Google IMAP, works for awhile on Mail, which I leave open while working on other applications. But several times a day I get msg from Google: "We recently blocked a sign-in attempt to your Google Account" . . . and requiring me to verify my account details, re-enter passwords, confirm security settings (or change them from "disable" to "enable less secure methods" and so on). In Mail I also have tried "taking all accounts online", and re-entering my gmail password inside Mail account settings. These steps successfully re-set comms between gmail and Mail ... for awhile, then it happens again. Enough occurrences over a work day that I just quit Mail and revert to accessing gmail directly. Apple Care advisor and an Apple knowledge base article say that Apple can't deal with this, as gmail is third-party app, and they refer me to gmail, and so far I've found nothing helpful there.
From today I also have several instances of a window saying "Mail has unexpectedly closed" and asking me to Re-open it.
I also use Yahoo mail, which stops working with Mac Mail at the same time as gmail, but I do not receive notices to re-verify from Yahoo.
I recently upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. The Mail problem happened occasionally with Mavericks but is far more frequent with Yosemite.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Unable to Install OS X Yosemite from USB Bootable Installer

I have created a Yosemite USB bootable installer using similar instructions (I changed source and target names as appropriate) as provided to create a Mavericks USB bootable installer - Creating a bootable OS X installer in OS X Mavericks
Target disk has been wiped clean, verified, partitioned, etc.
After booting from the USB bootable installer, and agreeing to the terms of the software license agreement and choosing the newly cleaned disk to have OS X installed on, installation starts and the following dialogue box appears ...
"This copy of the Install OS X Yosemite application can't be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading."
Thinking I may have corrupted something I re-downloaded Yosemite, walked through the whole process and received the same 'sad' results.
I also followed the same process with Mavericks -- same message with "Mavericks" instead of "Yosemite".
Equipment:  MacBook Pro -- Model A1286
Error logs (from the installer) are verbose but don't seem to have any unusual 'complaints'.
    Any thoughts?

You can try a few things. That message is likely due to a network problem.
Try signing in and downloading while ethernet connected.
    Try another network.
    Or you can try:
Removed files below located within /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
      - com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    - com.apple.network.identification.plist
    - com.apple.wifi.message-tracer.plist
    - NetworkInterfaces.plist
    - preferences.plist
Restart the computer, connect to your network and try downloading again.

  • Is it possible to install OS X Yosemite in 2 different systems using single copy (USB Copy of OS X Yosemite)

I have one Macbook (late 2009) used by me and another Macbook Pro (mid 2010) used by my wife. Both systems are running on OS X Mavericks (10.9.5). Is it possible to upgrade/install OS X Yosemite with a single downloaded copy/ USB copy of OS X Yosemite  (downloaded with my apple id). Is it linked to apple id?

Yes.  The easy way is to do this:
    1) Go to System Preferences > App Store, and deselect the "Install OS X Updates" box.
    2) Use App Store to download Yosemite
    3) When the installer is downloaded and pops up, simply close the installer before starting the upgrade.
    4) Look in "Applications" folder for the "Install Mac OS Yosemite" app.
    5) Use Command-drag to copy that installer to a flash drive.
You can then copy that installer to any number of Macs that you want to install Yosemite on.
If you want a bootable flash drive then there are many articles on the Web describing how to create those as well.

Sometimes USB external drive problems are resolved simply by plugging them into the mains power and trying again.

  • Since installing OS X Yosemite my Acrobat 8 fails to work

Since installing OS X Yosemite my Acrobat 8 Professional fails to work. I get a dialogue pop up saying:
Then closes the application preventing myself creating multiple page PDFs
Can anyone help resolve this issue?

Acrobat 8 is not compatible with Yosemite. You need to switch to Acrobat XI
(you can't upgrade because Acrobat 8 is also too old to qualify for an
    upgrade).

  • My Kodak AiO 3250 won't print since installing OS X Yosemite.

My Kodak AiO 3250 won't print since installing OS X Yosemite.  I get error message on printer, "An unexpected error occurred.  Check for problem at the printer a ..."   Dialogue box ran out of space, couldn't determine the whole message.  I've contacted Kodak, no response so far.  Any other suggestions?

    Hi guys,
This is not Apple's fault. Kodak is the one responsible for updating drivers for their new printers and from what I have heard Kodak is pulling out of the printer business and are behind on updating their drivers. This video on how to install a new printer might help and explains how sometimes old drivers can still work if you don't use air print.

  • Downloaded and installed os x yosemite and now mac book pro will not restart? How long should this take? Is there something wrong? Please helpthanks in advance

MAc book pro. I have downloaded and installed os x yosemite now mac book pro will not start? How long should it take? Is there something wrong?

The 2 computers here took about 45 minutes to an hour each.
The best thing to do is give it more time. If it gets too ridiculous, shutdown using the power button and then restart. Check  menu/About This Mac to see if it is installed.

  • Installing OS X Yosemite Taking So Long

I am trying to install OS X Yosemite in my macbook pro but it is showing about 123 hours and 8 minutes remaining to download additional components. Is there any way I make this faster? Why is it taking so long?

It's been a few days since the original post.  If you use Software Update again now, do you still have this problem?
Also, what is the name and version number of the update?  If you can't get Software Update to do it for some reason, you can search for that update on Apple Support, then download and install it manually.
Before you do that, run Disk Utility (which is on Applications/Utilities).  Select "Macintosh HD" in the sidebar and go to the First Aid tab.  Click Verify Disk.  This will check to make sure there is nothing is wrong with your startup disk.  If there is a problem reported, that may be causing the problem with Software Update.

After installing OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 -  I get this when I try to open Illustrator “ To open “Adobe Illustrator CS6” you need to install the legacy SE6 runtime.” I can not get seem to do this, how is this done?

    Robert,
It seems to be enough to create empty folders at “/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk” and “/System/Library/Java/Support/Deploy.bundle”, to make Illustrator use Jave SE 8 as it should.
This way to get round the legacy JAVA requirement was presented by Kals in post #7 in this thread:

has anyone's screen go blank and not boot up after installing the new yosemite OS

    Hi Mofimac,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your Mac is only starting up to a blank gray or white screen after updating OS X, you can find some useful troubleshooting steps in this article:
Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup
I recommend going through these first three sections first:
Disconnect, test peripheral devices and network cables
    Perform a Safe Boot
    Reset the NVRAM / PRAM

If you use a trackpad and don't want to switch to a mouse, you can uninstall and reinstall all day long and will still have problems, but if you really want to try it, you can download PSE 12 here:

  • Installed OS X Yosemite, and Illustrator CC 2014 will not print

Just Installed OS X Yosemite, Mac Powerbook. and now Illustrator CC 2014 will not print to my HP Laser jet Pro 400, But Acrobat, Photoshop do. Any advise, I even Uninstallled and reinstalled the HP Drivers.

Did you also uninstall, run the cleaner tool and reinstall all your Adobe apps. In recent versions of the Mac software (10.7 and up) migration will not work reliably with the Adobe Suite.
