I installed Reader X and now a savable form will no longer work

I bought a medical claim form (CMS-1500) that allowed me to save patient information in it and save that basic information so when I enter another claim, I have most of the form pre filled out. Once I installed X, the form no longer allows me to save. Also, previous client forms I saved do not show the information in the individual fields or print them, but the strange thing is when I click on a specific field, that information pops in. But when I click on another field, the previous one disappears and the new field appears. Nonoe of the info. prints and it only allows me to save as a blank form now. This works the same if I open the file in X or 9 (Mac version) (It worked great for the previous 6 months on 9 before I installed X). I did commuincate with the form provider and they can't figure out what is going on either. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can recover this information or these files?

The problem of data in the fields becoming visible only when the fields have the focus is probably due to a well known problem with the Preview application on the Mac: http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/885/cpsid_88564.html
So if you're dealing with a form that was corrupted with Preview, there's not a lot you can do with Reader to recover it. You can export the form data to an FZDF file with Acrobat and reimport it into the original (blank) form.
It's hard to tell what's preventing Reader 10 from saving without looking at the document in question.

You're welcome.
But, no, don't look to Epson for fixes to their driver in newer versions, and Adobe has deprecated the TWAIN plug-in. Hoping for a solution there is futile. That has not happened and it's never going to happen. The consensus is that it's pretty foolish to tie up Photoshop to scan. Honestly.
Any improvement in the behavior of newer versions of the Epson drivers in that regard would be pure coincidence.
You need to understand that you never, ever scan "within" Photoshop, as Photoshop has no scanning capabilities whatsoever. When you use the Import > Twain plug-in all you are doing is blocking Photoshop while you call up the stand-alone Epson scanning software. If you think about it, its most inefficient.
VueScan has a pretty powerful scanning plug-in that can be called from the Impost menu—if you insist. VueScan is not free, but it's a pretty good value, IMO.
As for the Epson CD printing software, I have no clue. Sorry.

Gene, those are incredibly old applicaitons that were based on PPC (Power PC) versions of OS X. Beginning with Lion legacy apps that are PPC based are no longer supported. There are numerous tools availalbe however you will need to do a little legwork to find what you want. I would recommend using Google and search using "Appleworks draw and paint replacements Lion" and you will find a lot of hits. Once you have located one that will import your legacy files then you should be all set.

I am now getting a error message of -9808. I have to sign in to iTunes constantly and now my disc drive will no longer play movies or anything. I have Windows XP Tablet Professional Version. Both companies are pointing the finger at each other.

Netflix adapts to the connection. iTunes content is fixed, and will need to load a portion before playback begins.
It is best to troubleshoot the network to truly rule things out.
What is your current connection, via speedtest.net
Make sure DNS is set to automatic (settings - general - network)
If on wifi try Ethernet
Make sure router is up to date, reboot along with ATV
There may also be ISP throttling

Yes, I suspect that it's the virtual drive emulator software you have there. I know nothing about that software and it doesn't look like the Roxio support page even mentions it, so it's probably software old enough that they're not supporting it anymore.
To uninstall any software, I would start with the "Add and Remove Programs" Control Panel. Uninstall it there, and then use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility —

Download and install that. Run it and find the drive emulator software on the list and remove it there. And reboot and see if that has successfully removed it.
There is a work around that if we just remove the iTunes CD driver, you'll probably get your drive back, but you'll only be able to rip CDs, you won't be able to burn them without the iTunes CD driver installed. You do have some Pinnacle CD burning software installed. Are you currently using that or is that leftover cruft as well?

Installed 7.5 and now audio sound "distant"

I just installed 7.7 and now audio for all applications is not working properly. Have realtek sound card (factory) - drivers are OK - PC doctor diag shows that both left and right channels are coming from both speakers (I have only 2) and if I am correct, it sounds like only the "rear" channels although I have not set this computer up for 5.1 or greater sound. Basically missing a lot of components of the sound. Any ideas?

OK - just checked out the reltek device from the control panel - the default device select is the "realtek HD audio rear output" - I wonder if this means "rear" speakers? I wonder how this all happened?

I've been having the same issue, but have just discovered something on my own that hasn't been pointed out in any of the forums I've visited. In what I thought would be a vain attempt to help myself, I went to System Preferences, Users & Groups, and then clicked on Login Items. I discovered that one of the Items that was listed to open automatically upon login was iTunes Helper and that there was an exclamation point beside it indicating that it was incompatible. I simply deleted that item and now I don't have the situation you described and my wireless is connected. Hope this helps!

Paldeng, thanks for the suggestion. I've done all that. I can connect to the server, but apparently they are not recognizing my ID and password. I can use the server program if I don't go through Mail (using the same ID and password). My mother in another state with another provider has had the same email issue, as also my husband on his laptop who uses the same internet connection I do. His worked fine until we had it repaired at the Apple store and all the original programs reloaded (with the required updates, I assume). We can receive email in Mail, we just cannot send.
I contacted my service provider, and we went over my connections. They said it was not their problem and connected me with Apple, resulting in a charge to me because my warranty is long expired. Apple swears it is not their problem, it is the provider, so here I sit. My son was able to fix my Mom's Mail (she's 97) and got my husband's working also, until mine went out, by tweaking connection descriptions and ports remotely. The thing is, we had not messed with any of those settings, so what changed? I just did not want to bother my son again, as he has many other demands on his time.
Since this fiasco with the Mail v4.6 update, I'm wondering if something else was updated that works well with Lion and Mountain Lion, but does not work well with Snow Leopard and Leopard. I think the problem I had with the Mail update was that my Mail program had been renamed to Mail (original), and therefore was not being recognized by the update. Perhaps they had another tweak in there somewhere that is affecting outgoing mail connections?
