I installed the latest update today and now my computer wont startup. I just shows the grey installation bar then shuts down? Anyone know why?

Hi Guys,
I installed the latest mavericks updtae today.
When I restarted my computer it shows that its inslalling (grey startup screen with apple logo ad insallation bar).
When it completes the installation it just switches off.
When I restart it starts all over again and is now stuck in this cycle.
I cant even start up in safe mode?
Anyone else had this issue?

if you search the discussions here, you’ll find many people who have had this issue.
You can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it reach the login screen now?

It worked just fine last weekend. I have windows 8.1 and a brand new pc, new iPod also, the new Nano. now after the update today, iTunes says iPod has been detected but could not be indentified properly. I can see it in windows. I tried the reset on the iPod also. what else can I do?? HELP

Doublechecking. Have you tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

What is a error message and what do you see when it appears?
Haven't much problem with Airs around here, since they have a SSD they tend to be more reliable.
Perhaps it was a bad update, have you ran through this list of possible fixes?
Do as many as possible, starting with #1. Until the problem is resolved.
Use the boot 10.6 USB instead of the disk of course.

What OS X version did you upgrade from? What iPhoto version did you have before upgrading? You cannot upgrade a version of iPhoto from a pre-10.10.2 OS X version installation. You needed iPhoto 9.6.1.

Hold down the mouse button or trackpad clicker as you start up.
If no joy, restart and hold the Option key. This brings up the Startup Manager, which will draw an Icon for each bootable Volume. When all are drawn, the Eject key is "live".

I've been having the same issues too, and thought it was just my outdated computer or account?!
Every time I try to purchase a song, "session has timed out" shows up after I click "agree" to the terms!? I seem to be in the exact same scenario as 'SportsBarn' above: Itunes support have replied repeatedly with the same "solutions" but nothing has helped or even been applicable. It sounds like either your hard drive or the SATA cable that connects it to the motherboard are failing. This could be heat related in your case, which is why you see it after it runs awhile. You can take it to the Genius Bar for a free evaluation. If you decide to test it yourself, I usually suggest moving the hard drive to an external enclosure. If it works there for awhile, the cable is probably the issue.

i installed latest software updates today and since then iphoto will not work at all. The window oens but it remains blank, and when I go to force quit it says iphoto not responding, so it's as if it's crashing on startup. I can't access my photo library or put new photos in the library from my camera, in fact I can't do anything at all with it.
I am in Africa a long way from home and tech support, so please can anyone help me?? Im a bit desperate as my whole photo library is inaccessible, and it will be months before I am back in the UK.
I am not hugeley techie so plain English please.
