I can not install the newest version of iTunes because of a file that can not be found. This is what I am seeing:(The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. C:\Documents and Settings\Aubrie\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple\Apple Software Update\)
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
(2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
trying to install the newest version of itunes on my pc and am getting "program cant start because msvcr80.dll is missing from your computer" reinstalling doesnt work. and then it says error 7 (windows error 126). Any help would be appreciated. Using Windows 7 enterprise on an hp Z600
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

I am trying to install the newest version of Itunes and each time I repeatedly get the message "Program cannot start MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer Try reinstalling to fix this problem". I have tried reinstalling several times and I get the same message . Any ideas? I am most appreciative. I am using Windows 7.
Hi 49balf,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend removing and reinstalling iTunes using these steps:
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

I have a windows 8 computer and I installed the newest version of itunes because I used to have an ipod and I have a few purchases that I wanted to listen to. When I try to play them it says it's playing but I can't hear anything. It does not even says it's played the whole way. It just stays at the beginning. It won't let me pause. I checked my computer sound and there is nothing wrong with it. So there must be some software problem but idk what it is. If anyone can help I would appreciated. Thank-you
Hi DJBentley2011,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue burning CD's in iTunes. Is the playback issue only occurring on a specific device and does the disc show up correctly in iTunes? The article linked below should help you resolve optical drive issues, it walks you through identifying potential issues and provides troubleshooting suggestions.

I hope this helps.

I'm trying to install the newest version of iTunes but it's saying the version i have isn't new enough for me to update it. This makes no sense to me... how do I get the newest version?
I Think it is telling you your computer operating system is too old for the newest update.
What are you running? -
I'm unable to install the newest version of itunes on my pc, the promt says that there is a problem with the windows installer package, but I have downloaded the exe more than once. Is anyone able to help?
Yes, I had found a similar solution also. I'm running XP Pro, SP3. I went Control Panels/ Add-Remove programmes/apple software update/ change/ repair. Then run the 10.5 exe.
While the programme updated from version 8 of iTunes, my new iTunes is now a mess. Not all of my music was in the same folder previously but it all showed up on iTunes. Now many albums have been left out, some have only a few tracks and some have two copies of some tracks as well as having other tracks missing. I haven't begun to work on that. -
I put I TUNES library on my external hard drive.
Then I installed the newest version of ITune - 12.1.0.5.
Now I can;t play the music on the external drive.
What to do?
ThanksThanks, Limnos,
Worked perfectly. -

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Can't install the newest version of iTunes
Hi.
I am trying to download the newest version of iTunes, its going about 3/4 of the way through the process then an error message is coming up saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network that is unavailable. Click ok to try again or enter an alternative path to a folder containing the instillation programe 'i tunes .msi' in the box below".
I've tried clicking OK but it brings up the same message and cannot find a folder that it needs.
When I click cancel, it says "The older version of Itunes cannot be removed"
Any Ideas???
Cheers"The feature you are trying to use is on a network that is unavailable. Click ok to try again or enter an alternative path to a folder containing the instillation programe 'i tunes .msi' in the box below".
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
I can't install the newest version of iTunes.
I downloaded the newest version of iTunes, but when I try to install it, I get a Windows Installer error that "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." When I launch the current version of iTunes, I keep getting a popup window that the AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working. I don't even know what that might mean, but if I ignore the popup window, multiple windows continue opening up. Has anyone had this problem? If so, how can I get rid of these errors?
Thanks. When I launch the current version of iTunes, I keep getting a popup window that the AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working

I'm trying to download the newest version of iTunes onto my windows computer and it keeps saying it cannot find 'iTunes.msi' program in my files. How do I fix this?
I would try removing and reinstalling all the Apple software by:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Next try posting in the iTunes forum.
