I installed upgrade tp 29.0.1 and now it won't launch.

I did a manual upgrade from 24 to 29 (should not have had to). Had FFox still running so I closed that before install finished.
Now nothing launches. The .exe file in Programs still has the old date (5/6) but items e.g. install.log have today's date. Control Panel says it's been updated. Did a reboot already.

Thanks for this, but I am worried about losing personal data. I see the profile folder under Firefox -> browser->defaults->profile but that file doesn't seem current.

Not familiar enough with Uninstall--will there be a clear option there to not remove "personal data" if I try that?
Yes, during the install around the second step, it'll have a box that is unselected by default that says "Remove my personal Firefox customizations" or similar. Note from my previous reply at the end

(BTW I see that previous install left a "stub" not a full version: Firefox Setup Stub 29.0.1.exe)
That's the installation file that Firefox uses to install its files from. The stub installer is a 7zip archive used for compressing the size of the installer. Mozilla offers Stubs by default if you download from mozilla.org/firefox/new. Mozilla also offers full installs for people who want the full version for some reason or because the Stub wasn't working properly. We need to sort out some facts here first:
• You cannot be running Mt. Lion on your iMac G5. What Mac is it? What is the Model Identifier listed in About This Mac; More Info; Hardware Overview
• What is the model of your Epson Scanner?
• Have you attempted to scan using Image Capture, located in your Applications folder?
• Your Palm Pilot software will only run in Snow Leopard; so depending upon which Mac you have, you will either have to:
1) partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it to "dual-boot" when you want to access you Palm software, or
2) install Snow Leopard Server (now available from Apple for $20 telephone orders USA & Canda only) into Parallels 8 to run your Palm software in Mt. Lion:

Start iTunes. Make sure you really are running the version you think you are. Sometimes people end up with two copies, different versions.

You say you are running Snow Leopard 10.6.3. That version will not run the latest iTunes which requires 10.6.8 If you need iTunes 10.7 you have to be running 10.6.8

How are you trying to access gmail? Are you using their web mail page at www.gmail.com? Or using the Apple Mail application? Or something else?
If you are trying to use the web mail, what browser are you using? Does the failure occur when you try to load the initial page, or after you try to log in?

I have just connected my phone to iTunes to get everything synced and up to date. ITunes said new software was available (OS 4.0.1) so I agreed to download that....then an error message came up on screen saying could not be completed (I think the error code was 603??) and now my phone is showing nothing at all but a black screen with a silver apple in the middle.
I have tried to hold off button down to shut it down but nothing happens. Can't make it work, can't do anything. At all. No phone, no mail, nothing. I need HELP! I cannot bear the thought of having to totally reset my phone back to basics because the whole syncing thing has never worked properly since I got it last year (I say this as a committed Apple-ophile, it's never been right despite doing the whole Apple support thing and having chats with them) and I don't want to have to put up with that again...

Are you using the original gray-faced OS X DVDs that came with the system (if so, what OS X level does it say on the disk) or a retail copy of OS X 10.6 or another gray-faced OS X disk from another system? You can't use a gray-faced OS X disk from, for example, an iMac or MacBook Pro, to install on your MacBook.
Was it originally delivered with an OS X level that is greater than what you're trying to install? You can't install an earlier level than what came with the system.
Did you boot to the DVD, and use Disk Utility to create one disk partition, then reboot and try to install?

Not for free, no. Well I guess there is. Don't sync your phone. We don't, but then we only use it for talking and taking photos which you can transfer using even a pretty old computer.

I finally took the big step and upgraded from 10.3.8 to 10.3.9, did all the right things, disconnected my FW External HD, ran Cocktail, ran disk utility, repaired permissions; BUT, since I've completed all the updates and the 10.3.9 upgrade, I cannot launch Safari.
I use Firefox and it works like a champ, but Safari just will not open. I've tried trashing the pref list for safari and that didn't help either. Any help out there?

ok, thansk for all the help fellas, finally found a solution that invloved some quaint unknown software solution.

I upgraded to 3.6.8 and now pages won't load, connection times out.

I open Firefox on my desktop. Takes forever to load my google home page, or sometimes it says connection timed out. When I try to get to websites it either takes forever, or I get a message saying connection timed out, and/or the error message problem loading page. Has only started happening since I upgraded to 3.6.8. Have tried disabling add-ons but that didn't help. Nothing wrong with my internet connection. Use Windows XP

Do you use McAfee Antivirus/Firewall/Security products? McAfee released a security update that is blocking Firefox 3.6.11. This should be cleared up with the next McAfee update.
