I intermittently cannot option+drag shapes, or even drag a copied object. Instead Illustrator will try to enact re-sizing or rotation.

This is so frustrating, having never had this issue in any prior versions of illustrator.
I'm using Illustrator CC, on a Macbook Pro Retina (newest), on OSX 10.10.2 ... using the trackpad for now in lieu of my tablet or mouse (suspecting that this might be the issue).
As I said in the title, very frequently, I'll go to option+drag an object to copy it and instead of it dragging out a new copy, it tries to either rotate or stretch the object instead. This is in every different file I try to work on. I'll try to do it the old fashioned way of cmd+C, cmd+F and then dragging it, but this too seems to run into the same issue. Dragging the newly copied object instead enacts rotation or stretch tools.
I'm sure you can appreciate how maddening this can be if you're accustomed to quickly multiplying lots of little objects on screen.

Having a wee bit of a problem here - I have created artwork for a display stand and, to demonstrate how this will look, I'm trying to make a 3 mockup in illustrator CS3.
I've created a top down shape for the object which I then extrude and map the image on to - this is where the problem arises! Illustrator seems to 'bunch' the mapped image around points where curves are tighter (presumably due the increase in vertices there) rather than mapping it evenly around the surface. This causes some rather undesirable warping of the image which rather ruins the effect!
Can anyone tell me a way of avoiding this?

No. I did exactly what my instructions indicated: I simply positioned the Symbol for mapping onto the front surface, with no scaling. After Illusrtator rendered the result, I selected Add AnchorPoints twice.
The distortion was due to the extended handles of the middle point which gives the front surface its concave shape. Adding anchorPoints effectively shortens the handles, thereby lessening their distortion effect. That does not necessarily add surfaces to the model. A 3D Effect model does not necessarily create additional surfaces for each "patch" defined by anchorPoints. You can see that easily by simply extruding a filled, unstroked ellipse into a cylinder with open endcaps: One surface, despite the four anchorpoints in the section.
Moreover, with the preview checkbox on, the 3D Effect interface highlights the surfaces on your model as you page through them in the Map Art dialog.
OF COURSE the model's section path needs to be drawn with some sense about what 3D Effect will have to do to it geometrically, and about the scale of the 3D model settings relative to the size and aspect ratio of the mapped artwork (thus my admonitions to that effect in my second post). One can't just willy-nilly apply elaborate automatic effects to any carelessly-drawn path and expect results to work right. But assuming appropriately-drawn sections for the extrusion, adding anchorPoints can be an effective means by which to correct distortion caused by long curve handles--just as it can also be used to more closely approximate uniform spacing of Blend steps along curves spines. The long radius concave front of a trade show backdrop is a case-in-point.

try using options/content - does not even show javascript option. i uninstalled program and re-installed and get the same result. using xp.

Is this a global problem that JavaScript is not running on any site? The on/off setting is still available in the about:config preferences editor.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''java''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) if '''javascript.enabled''' is bolded and set to false, double-click it to switch it back to true. This takes effect right away, but you'll need to reload the problem pages so Firefox re-reads the scripts.
Does that fix it or are particular sites still problematic?
One way that your normal default preferences could be changed is by an extension, and another is by external software creating a user.js file. If this problem recurs, you can investigate both of those.

I can give a few suggestions on Photoshop CC 2014, but Lightroom is a separate forum and you should ask Lr questions there.
First close Photoshop.
Then start Photoshop by double-clicking on it's icon and very quickly after that, hold down the ctrl-alt-shift keys until you see the reset dialog. answer "Yes" to delete settings, and let Photoshop continue to load.
It's tricky to do and may take a few tries, but at least it should reset Photoshop CC 2014 to defaults.

Just to the right of the eyedropper, above the pencil tool. It will show the icon for whatever shape you last used, but click whatever's there and go to the tool options at the bottom of the window to select the shape tool you want.

Save password option is grayed out even with no master password saved.

Cannot save passwords. In the security tab the "save passwords" option is grayed out, even though I have not saved a master password.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately it did not solve the problem. I went to tools-add 0n, and disabled all, but the save password option is still grayed out . I also made sure I am not using private browsing.
I was once able to save passwords, but added a master password. When I discovered that passwords could not be saved anymore, I removed the master password, but from then on the save password option has been gray.

There are two scenarios in which GoFlex drives are supported for use with a Mac. When you connect a GoFlex drive to a Mac, you will be presented with a utility to configure the drive for use. First, if you want to use your GoFlex drive solely with a Mac, the utility will reformat the drive into the HFS+ format, which allows you to use the drive with Time Machine or the included Memeo Premium backup software for Mac. If you would like to be able to "shuttle" data back and forth between a Mac and a PC, a special driver needs to be installed onto the Mac that allows it to access a Windows-formatted drive (i.e. NTFS). Time Machine will not work in this case, nor will Memeo Premium software for Mac. However, if you want your GoFlex solution to also work with TimeMachine, the drive will need to be reformatted to HFS+ journaled.

Acrobat 9 Killed Acrobat 8 and cannot go back to 8 even if uninstalled is done, Got 8 back on but the updates for Acrobat will not install. The other CS3 products work fine, they have applied their update but Acrobat keeps failing. The message in my Windows event viewer is "Product: Adobe Acrobat and Reader 8.1.2 Security Update 1 (KB403742) -- No qualifying products found to apply this update" but the base 8.0 pro is installed.
Manually downloaded the updates for acrobat then patcher basically gives me the same error...
Is there a registry key that can be modified or remove to allow the updates. I have Acrobat 8.0 as part of CS3 but i'm seeing a separate copy of 8.1.2 pro in my Installed programs list!! I never had the chance of installing any updates let alone 8.1.2 pro standalone.
Plus my system was working until that very last security update came out for acrobat pro.

Remove 9 and if you have the disks try uninstalling 8. If not use the
CS3 CleanScript.

Steps to Reproduce:
With Numbers v2, you introduced an interesting enhancement.
In system using the comma as decimal separator, Numbers requires csv files using the semi-colon as values delimiter.
In fact it’s true if we OPEN the document dragging its icon on Numbers one or thru the open dialog.
This said.
(1) Drag and drop a csv built with the 'semi-colon' standard on a table or on a sheet
(2) Drag and drop a csv built with the 'comma' standard on a table or on a sheet
Expected Results:
Every normally constituted user assume that in
case (1) he will get a perfectly built table
case (2) he will get every cells of a row in a single cell
Actual Results:
In fact you forgot the drag and drop way of use and in
case (1) every values separated by semi-colon are inserted in a single cell
case (2) values separated by comma are correctly spread in a table

Except looking in QuickView to see which is exactly the structure of the file to decide the way we will insert it in a Numbers document, we may use an applescript fair enough to replace the semi-colons by TAB characters
or
to replace the commas by TABs and the decimal periods by commas

While I am on this subject, I wish to make two proposals:
(1) It would be fine to format the date according to the ISO format year-mm-dd when you export a Numbers doc to csv.
Doing that, dates would be imported correctly in every countries.
At this time, on an English system, you export as mm/dd/year.
If the doc is open on a system using the format dd/mm/year, the results will be odd.
On a system using the format dd/mm/year, you export this way and so, if the doc is open on a system using the format mm/dd/year the results are odd too.
As every localized versions accept the ISO format (at least on entry), using it in the export scheme would give a correct behavior everywhere.
(2) It would be fine to add the format Tab Separated Values in the Export pane.
TSV + ISO date format would give documents opening flawlessly everywhere.

Use the Leopard disk to start up your Mac as opposed to the 10.4 disk.
Any major update of any system software, no matter the platform, will have significant growing pains, especially in the first few days.

Cannot find the shapes "6 Medium Squares" in the pallete

I just migrated Final Cut Studio 2 from an iMac (PowerPc) to a MacBook Pro and when I open a project in DVD Studio Pro the following warning message is displayed "Cannot find the shapes 6 Medium Squares in the palette. References ....." and the project finally opens find and continue working.
My worry is that this didn't happen in the iMac. I'm using an external hard disk drive since the beginning in the iMac and I continue using it in the MacBook Pro. I searched for the file and it is in the external hard disk drive. The external hard disk drive was connected through a firewire 400 cable to the iMac, but the connection with the MacBook Pro is through a USB cable.
Can someone please give me and advice what to do?

I have moved my FCS from a G5 to a Mac Pro and an MBP, sending off the registration a total of 3 times. Nothing has exploded, no angry mail from Apple. Go for it.
