You can only sync with one computer. When you synced to the new computer it would have erased it and synced what was on the new computer.
You always need to have a backup, an iPhone is not a storage device.
When you get a new computer you need to transfer your library before syncing
If you don't have a backup you may be out of luck
The only thing would be if you're in the US and have access to the iCloud beta to reload purchases

  • Re-newed Itunes match and it deleted 10,000 songs from the cloud

Re-newed Itunes match and it deleted 10,000 songs from the cloud.

I spent time last night reloading the missing songs.  It did not take too
long, as you indicated much of the data existed at some point in the
Cloud.  Seems part of my library was duplicated on my main itunes computer
and that caused some confusion.  Turned off and turned on Itunes match on
my work PC and Iphone and everything was available again for streaming.
Hopefully I don't run into this next year at renewal time.  I do back up
to a hard drive and can use my ipod as a reference back up.
When it works the Icloud/Itunes back up and streaming is excellent.
Although initially last year it took 7 days to load my library.

  • I have over 10,000 songs that I have copied from my vinyl and tape libraries. I was able to use all of them until I loaded IOS 5.0. I can see all of them on my phone and PC, but most are greyed out on the phone. How can I use all of my music.

Let me know if you have any answers.

I did not upgrade to the newest version of Itunes on my PC.  I just now went to my Library were Music is listed. Under that is Movies, TV Shows, ItunesU, etc.  When I opened my music list, each song was in numerical order.   If I have the songs listed alphabetically, they are in numerical order.  If I change my listing to album or whatever, the first song is listed in numerical order just as I showed in my original question.  They are also numbered on my Playlists.  I have my favorites in two different playlists.  One of them was minus a song.  I was able to see which one was missing because they were in numerical order.  I know I could have just copied to correct one into the incorrect one and just skipped the duplicates, but I chose to do it this way.
So, the songs are listed numerically in my music folder under Library on my older version of Itunes.  But, on my newer version, they are not listed numerically under music.  Maybe I'm doing something wrong?????
Thanks so much for your help.  I wish they would just leave things alone.  I would gladly go back to the older version on my other computer, but????
    Again thanks.

  • I had over eight hundred songs to transfer to match it did not transfer around one hundred of the songs yet a lot of these songs are in iTunes library ?

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music'  then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

  • If I have converted my purchased iTunes songs to a lower bit rate what will happen when I join iTunes match? Will they match up or will these be stored as duplicates of the same song?

If I have converted my purchased iTunes songs to a lower bit rate what will happen when I join iTunes match? Will they match up or will these be stored as duplicates of the same song?
I ask because I primarily use my work laptop which has limited space so I usually convert my purchases to 160k from 256k in order to save space. I want to sign up for iTunes Match but I'd like to know before I do so I can understand how I will have to set up my library.

What I may do is start a brand new library there, copy my tracks from my work laptop using Home Share and then the script to get things in sync before starting over again there too.
Why create a new library? Just add the tracks from the laptop to the existing library on the Mac.

I was just hoping to hear definitively whether or not there was some sort of intelligence built into iTunes Match that would match these up...
How do you mean? If you down-convert purchased tracks you've fundamentally changed the files so iTunes can no longer recoginize them as "purchased." And, indeed, they no longer are since they are brand new files. Of course these new files will only be "matched" or "uploaded."

  • Where is iTunes Match content stored on apple TV? I recently joined itunes match and it is working on my ios devices, but I can't find my music on Apple TV

Where is iTunes Match content stored on apple TV? I recently joined itunes match and it is working on my ios devices, but I can't find my uploaded music on Apple TV

It isn't actually stored anywhere, it needs to be downloaded from the internet before any content can be played.
iTunes Match content is accessed through the 'Music' icon on the main screen though, it needs turning on though in settings first.

  • HT5637 I have just joined itunes match and want to know what I do now?  Do I delete all music on my iphone and how do I then see the music that's stored in the cloud?

    Hi
I have just joined itunes match and want to know what I do now.  Do I delete all the music on my iphone and ipad and if so how?  Once I've done that how do I find the music on the cloud on my phone/ipad?

Go to Settings > General > Usage, select Music, then Edit. There will be a delete option there. It may take a few minutes to delete if you have a large collection on your iPhone.

  • HT4914 Does DRM music stay protected after you join iTunes Match?

How does iTunes match work with DRM songs?  Can I download an unprotected version of the song from iCloud after I have joined iTunes Match?  I am trying to play my library on SONOS, which will not accept protected music.

Can I download an unprotected version of the song from iCloud after I have joined iTunes Match?
    Yes!  Go to this document:

  • ITunes Match continues cycle over and over again

I've tried starting iTunes Match several times over the past 48 hours. It cycles through all three steps, but then when it gets to the final one at some point in the uploading songs process, it stops and it starts all over again. It has done this about 3 times. Any advice about how to actually get everything fully uploaded? Thank you!

Added to this, everytime it re-syncs songs, somehow the music GB count goes up and I keep losing space on my iPhone!
    Anyone???

Multiple Apple IDs (2) with Purchases & iTunes Match. Apple TV Purchases. Not happy to have to log in/out to view and enjoy my Purchase Contest. What's the solution?

    Hi
i ran into the same problem. surprisingly though, i am not using multiple apple id and just one mac.
i did change both the account (apple id) and the computer (from pc to a mac server), but home sharing is on and the apple tv (1) is synced with the new computer.
i can connect to the itunes store and browse through it (signed in at all times). i cannot purchase any content and cannot play transferred rentals from the computer (apple tv is not authorised...)
somehow, it seems the apple tv was stuck with a previous id.
i have just now re-authorised my computer on the account and will give the apple tv another try. i did notice a message during the re-authorisation process. the apple tv is being authorised. this gives me hope.
in any case, your setup seems to be a dream come through. i decided to phase out my high end multiroom linn kivor system (over 20k back 6y ago) to an itunes based system. apparently you managed to build something.
i tried an itunes based nas but gave up due to complex operation (and overheating on top) and went for a mac server. i will be using windows clients though.
most of my content is cd based. can you sync purchased content between pc's? or with a server?

  • ITunes not syncing a little over 1,000 songs

I just got an iPod touch 5th gen and have updated it to IOS 7. I already had iTunes and an iPod 4th gen that had no problems syncing, etc. When I went to sync my new iPod it synced mostly everything; my apps, pictures, etc all were transferred. However, around 1,000 songs weren't added. At first they 'were added' but they had the little red square inside a circle beside the song when I went to play it on my iPod. The songs showed up, but wouldn't play. I fooled around with it and tried to sync it a few more times, but now the songs aren't showing up on my iPod and they won't sync. Sometimes it says "syncing failed to start" and other times it'll act like it's starting to sync and then cancel. All other songs are playing fine on the device and even the ones that didn't synce play on my computer. All of them are mp3 files that I downloaded from 3rd party sites/torrented. None of them were bought in the iTunes store. I've tried resetting my sync history, restarting the iPod and closing and reopening iTunes. Any tips or should I just tough it out until a new version of iTunes is out?

The fact you didn't purchase them from Apple shouldn't make any difference. Or at least it didn't used to make any difference.  Out of the thousands of mp3 I have only a handful (literally about 9 tracks) I purchased via iTunes.  These have always sync'd to the iPod without bother.
However, my experience is only with iPod classic, iPod touch on iOS6 and iTunes 10.7 so perhaps things have changed.  In short. Having media from outside of the iStore shouldn't cause you sync issues, unless the format is not supported (but mp3's are).
I would try putting all of the songs that won't sync into a playlist and just importing that play list to the iPod and see if that makes a difference.
Sorry I don't have a better solution for you.  Despite iTunes being rather good at syncing playlists to a device, I can really see the appeal in my Android phone, where I just copy over the mp3 I want without all of the dependancy on iTunes.  I hope Apple sort it out.  This is the sort of SNAFU that they will lose customers over.

Since I signed up for iTunes match, I've got about 150 songs that I Never bought, or want. Also, I'm missing a bunch of songs that I had on my computer before iTunes match. What the heck happened?

No, I'm the only one with access to my computer. I deleted all the unwanted songs and I hope they stay deleted. I found all my original songs in another folder. How they got there, I'll never know. It took a while, but I got all my songs back in the iTunes music library where they were before I got tangled up in this iTunes Match boondoggle. Apple has a ways to go before I'll mess with it again. By the way, you have to watch out for sisters.
