Many free wi-fi hotspots require that you register first - agreeing to their terms and conditions, etc. This is usually provided via a web page with Safari provided immediately after connecting. If the register page is provided via Flash, you won't see it and you won't be able to register.

    I recently bought my iPhone5 second hand off a friend.  Having inserted my sim the O2 network logo and 3G symbols appear in the top left although there is no signal registered.  I am also unable to make or receive calls as well as use the mobile internet.
    The phone is registered to O2 so there is no network clash

    It sounds like your phone is not connecting to the cellular provider network, and you are also unable to connect to the Wi-Fi network. I would recommend these troubleshooting steps from the article named:

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • After upgrading to 8.0 the add-on compatability tool runs and the Getting Started web page loads every time the browser starts.

    After upgrading to 8.0 from 7.0.1 every time I start FF I get the add-on compatibility tool to run and the Getting Started web page loads along with my homepage in separate tabs as well. So far I have tried running the installer again, disabling all add-0ns and custom settings and restarting and turning off automatic updates. Nothing worked there. I got the same behavior each time. I don't know what else to try other than a full uninstall and reinstall. Something I'd like to avoid if it's possible because of the time involved. This is the second time I have posted regarding this issue. The first time I didn't get a response. A solution or a possible workaround would be greatly appreciated if anyone knows of any. As a staff member and a global forum moderator for an anti-virus company I understand how hectic things can be at times but some feedback, good or bad, on this issue would be very welcomed!     Hi michaell, thanks for the reply. I tried everything in the Preferences are not saved link you provided and nothing worked there. If creating a new profile will delete all my add-ons and custom settings I might as well just do a complete uninstall and reinstall. That actually would be easier. That article told me how to save my bookmarks though so I don't have to loose those which is nice. I don't know if this makes any difference but there is a discrepancy between the preference file in the article which is: prefs.js and what's showing on my PC which is: prefs with no .js suffix. I tried to rename the file to prefs.js and restarted. No luck there either. It just created another prefs file. I guess we've pretty much exhausted all the avenues to try!     You need to copy some files and your iTunes folder to the new computer. Do you have a backup of your old computer (or still have the old computer?) Was the old computer a Mac or PC?

    To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • My phone is not switching from 4G over to WiFi. The phone has the network memorized its just not check marking the network and to switch over to WiFi. How can I fix this?

    I have the iPhone 4S and the wifi was working on it earlier yesterday. I noticed that the wifi didn't kick on last night. It has the network memorized so it could connect automatically. The network name pops up and there's a signal but the spinning circle thing is there and it won't put a check mark by the network name. The wifi will pop up every now and then but only stay for a minute or less. Everyone else's phone and computer is connecting just fine but mine isn't. It won't switch over to WiFi from 4G. I've tried turning off the wifi on my phone. I've tried to forget the network and put in the password numerous of times and I tried to fix it by turning my phone on and off and that still didn't work. I'm hoping that this is a temporary thing but I don't know. What's a good way to fix this because seriously I would like to not use up all of my data for this kind of bull crap. So what's a good way to fix this?

    I got the ATV hooked up to the WiFi after manually inputting the DHCP settings.
    The ATV will not see iTunes from a PC on the same iTune network.  I guess you need an Apple computer for iTunes to connect to the ATV.
    The biggest problem is that the iTunes store on the ATV is nonexistent I imagine because of competition/ monopolies in the UAE.  If I was in Lao, Burma, Thailand, Mozambique no problem.  40 Countries are listed and non of them are from the Middle East.  When I logon to the iTunes store on my PC it too does not allow for me to buy any movies or TV shows.  I am not sure why. 
    As for the iPad OS6, iTunes has an icon and when you click it you get iTune U or Podcast, no video content.  The App store works fine and they are always happy to take your money but no video content. 
    To top it all off YouTube is no longer licensed under OS6.0 and although I can get it on Google Chrome it is by no means as quick (for reasons unknown).
    As I said before if I choose United States as my country the ATV hooks up and lets me browse TV and movies and watch trailers but not able to purchase (obviously).
    So my conclusion is that ATV will not hook up to the iTune store in the UAE?  If this is incorrect please clue me in.

    Sounds like you have a "damaged track" or "damaged file".
    This worked for me today downloading Kendrick Lamar's new Album "good kid, m.A.A.d city".
    My situation: I bought the album today for my Mac,  MacBook Pro, iPad 2, and iPhone 4S devices.
    Issue: One song (only on my MacBook Pro) would not play, instead display "
    EX: left"
    Solution: 1. Manually delete the song (giving you the error) permantly from the authorized computer.
    2. Open iTunes, Click iTunes Store (left sidebar), and locate Quick Links and then click Purchased to proceed.
    3. Click "Not On This Computer", find the song that wouldn't play, and re-download it again.
    4. Check your Music Library for your song (Should download inside the associated album) and hit play.
    EX: (Song I purchased that wouldn't play because of authorization, playing)

    My iPad suddenly stopped working with my home network.  It shows the network to choose from but will not connect. When I look at details in that network it does not show IP address or any other info for the network.  Setting is on DHCP and http proxy is set on auto. Network is active and can connect on wife's iPad and other home computers.  Do I have another setting wrong?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    Those are the instructions for your computer's iTunes (i.e. using the Store menu at the top of your computer's iTunes and selecting 'View My Account' on it). If you are doing it on your iPad then are you following the instructions for iOS devices :

    Scroll to the bottom of the main page.
    If you're not already signed in, tap Sign In.
    Tap your Apple ID name, then tap View Account.
    Scroll down on the Account pane, and tap Hidden Purchases.
