When you purchase applications on your iOS device, they are tied to your Apple ID so even if you lose them, you can re-download them from your purchase history.
That said, when you first sync your iPhone to your new computer you'll want to transfer purchases from your iOS device to the computer by following these directions here:

If it's a genuine factory unlocked phone from Apple you should have no problems. I have had two, a 3GS and now a 4S, and they update and handle just like the locked phones. If it has been hacked in any way, though, all bets are off.

It will erase your contacts if you choose to sync contacts on the Info tab of your iTunes sync settings and sync to an empty contacts client. To avoid this you must enter at least one contact in Address Book, Outlook or whatever you're syncing contacts with prior to syncing. This will generate a merge or replace prompt for contacts when you first sync, choose merge.
Syncing doesn't touch your photos and videos in your camera roll (other than to include them in the iPhone backup). It will, however, remove any non-camera roll photos or videos synced to your phone from your computer.

Okay, so I had to format my hard drive and reinstall windows the other week.
I have downloaded a few new apps since then, and now they aren't showing in iTunes. When I try and sync i get this message about everything being deleted. The music I'm not bothered about as I can just put that back on, but what happens to the apps, contacts, emails etc...?

The iPhone syncs with only one iTunes media library. By reformatting your PC's HDD you have essentially turned that into a "new" computer to the iPhone. As such it must be wiped and start over. Luckily you can re-download apps (paid and free) for free from iTunes so you won't lose any.
In the future to avoid this and make things easier back up all your media to another location; music, videos, apps, etc. Then after the reformat you can simply exchange the iTunes library file that gets created when you put iTunes back with the one from before the format. Then you just connect the iPhone and sync, it will wipe it but everything will be right back. You could also save the back up file of your iPhone and restore it when first connecting to the reformatted PC to get have all your settings back as well.
The iPhone is not a storage device and media on the iPhone should not be considered a back up of your content.

First thing you need to answer, is if you got this mac new or not!
If you got it from a previous owner, and he did not clean it for you, then it's normal that there is stuff on it already.
If you got it as brand new, then you should have had to create a user account the first time you turned it on.
If there was already a user account on it, then it's not new and you should return it and ask for a real new unit.

We'll find out when Lion is released in July, or when Apple announces the details of the Up-To-Date program. I would guess that you'll apply for a redemption code, since Lion will come via the Mac App Store, but that's just a guess.

You need to transfer your iTunes Library from the old computer to the new one - then you can carry on syncing as normal. You can't move non-purchased music from an iPod to iTunes using iTunes. For purchased music, choose iTunes > File > Transfer purchases...

From your Old Computer... Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

Installing iTunes does not cause content to magically appear on the computer.
Your media is only where you put it.
iOS devices are not backup devices.
Copy the media from the old computer to the new computer.

You need to go under the help menu option and sign out from Muse and then install it on the other computer that you want using the creative cloud desktop app.

The ipod is initially connected to my computer, I can see it when I look on devices in my computer. However, when it finishes syncing it is no longer detected to my computer.
