I just bought an ethernet / usb adaptor from circuit city and it causes my macbook air to crash when I plug it in. is it not compatible?
Is there a way to get it to work, I'm trying to transfer files from my old pc?

Well first you need to sync your iPhone 4 with your Mac/PC so that it will transfer all your music, apps, podcasts, etc. Then sync your iPod Touch and the media you selected during the sync should be there on your iPhone. If you have difficulty in transferring media from iPhone to your computer, try softwares like TransCopy. They will help in transferring data from your iphone to your computer. Just bought a new Ipod Nano, 6th generation, was tryin to following directions on syncing, when I plug it in too my computer,
it doesnt give me any directions on syncing or connecting to my computer, can someone please help me??There should be an option (on the left hand side of your iTunes) for your iPod. Then when you click on it you will just need to setup and there will be an option to sync at the bottom right hand corner

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Thank you both for your responses but my daughter was reassured by the salesman in the iStyle store (official Apple store in the UAE) that iMessages would work but conceded that FaceTime wouldn't. My iTunes account is registered in the uk and my daughter's iPhone has iMessages even though she bought it (and uses it) in Dubai. Can anyone else throw any light on this?

I have just bought a Panasonic Lumix compact camera. Aperture and Preview can't open the RAW files from this camera. Panasonic recommend downloading 'SYLKPIX Developer Studio SE' to save RAW file formats.How can Aperture and Preview read the files?
Either use 'SYLKPIX Developer Studio SE' to develope the RAW files and to save them in another lossless format like TIFF, or try if Adobe's free DNG Coverter can convert your Lumix RAW files to dng. Then import the dngs. This way, your files will still be RAW files. This works (most times) for my Lumix FZ28.

I just bought a 5th gen Ipod from someone and restored it to factory setting I then uploaded my music to it and ejected it but may have unplugged it to soon. Now the ipod just keeps trying to turn on but doesn't and it won't respond to manual reset has anyone had this problem and what was done to fix it? thank you for your time I would really appriciate it.
The 5th gen iPod "classic" was the first "video" iPod. It's video capability is more limited, and supported video resolution is lower, typically only 320x240. Even if the video is standard def (SD), and not HD, it is probably at least 640x480.
Also, current iTunes Store video content (such as TV shows and movies) uses DRM (copy protection). The 5th gen iPod was designed before the iTunes Store started selling video content (as it does now); I don't think it supports the DRM technology.
If you have video content that is not DRM'd and plays in iTunes (such as video podcasts), you may be able to use the convert command in iTunes. Select the item on a list in iTunes. From the iTunes menu bar
File -> Create New Version -> Create iPod or iPhone Version
That version may play on your iPod, so iTunes will sync it. -

I am having pretty much the same issue.
Got a new modem Arris SB6141 and a new Airport Extreme ME918LL/A. Activated with my ISP (Comcast). Worked with a savy tech who knew the modem and Airport Extreme. Ensured all items were correct from the ISP side.
I follow the instructions as indicated for Airport Extreme by it fails to detect the internet and dns servers. Comcast suggested I call apple. Reading posts above I will:
-Reset the airport extreme
-Unplug the modem for 30min

Vejan!You may or may not already have your network set up correctly, it's just that I can't tell from what you have said.
I have a main router provided by my ISP, I have several other Airport Extremes and Airport expresses connected by Ethernet, all set up to bridge the network created by the main router.
Each maker has their own settings, but bridging should be reasonably obvious. In simple terms my main router distributes IP addresses to all devices, the Airports bridge that network by passing these addresses to the devices from the main router. A base station that isn't in bridging mode will distribute its own addresses to the devices connected to it.
I don't really follow your next point.
instruction for configuration vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, the best course of action here is to refer to the manual. If everything is set up properly the addresses of everything on your network will have identical sets of numbers for the first 3 of 4 groups of numbers that make up an address, the last set must always be different. I think the part you are referring to with your DD-WRT is the option to have Ethernet and wifi bridged or not.
Some routers may be easier to configure than others, but generally speaking they should all work with the Apple TV. 5Ghz is less likely to suffer interference but it is much more likely to be blocked by solid objects, it may or may not be an advantage. -
I just bought iPod touch 8GB put it in iTune and it show only 34Mb available. and it been use up 6.2GB show from the iTune Summery as "OTHER 6.2 GB" so I don't have enoght space to sync any much application for my kids. So either you bought this second hand and it had someone else's stuff on it, or you were unlucky and the first Sync of your iPod to iTunes resulted in a lot of "Other".
Conect the iPod to iTunes and on the Device/Summary pane (tab) look for and select the Restore button. -
Just bought a gen 7 ipod Nano. All setting in iTunes are set to transfer. When I hookup to my computer. It says syncing then devise is synced. But absolutely nothing transferred!! Please help!
Never mind, got it to work. I stumbled around on Google for a while and somehow ended up reading things from the 'jailbroken' community. They had easy instructions to get out of Recovery mode. Thanks anyway though!
P.S. For anyone who experiences this, here is the fix: Hold Power and Home in unison for 6 seconds, then power on as normal. -

First off you need to know the model identifier of the machine, not all Mac's can be reverted to Snow Leopard and not all Mac's can use the 10.6.3 Retail disk!
To find the model identifier, boot the machine up and hold the command key and the spacebar, Spotlight appears at the top right corner and type in System Profiler and press Enter/Return.
The model identifier should be something like "MacBook Pro 9,2" or something of that nature.

Now all Intel Mac's issued before July 2011 can install Snow Leopard, but the Mac's released after July 2011 came with OS X 10.7 Lion and the firmware won't boot off the Snow Leopard disk. (however 10.6 can be shoehorned on using Firewire Target Disk Mode and another Mac for some models after July 2011)
Also the 10.6.3 Snow Leopard Retail Disk sold at Apple only works on Mac's that came with 10.4-10.6.2 from the factory.
Any Mac's that originally came with 10.6.3-10.6.8 from the factory need model specific disks from Apple directly, not sold at their online store, you will have to call them with your Mac's serial number and order these disks.
If you get the right disk and have the right machine, then you should be able to insert the disk and hold c down or the option/alt key and boot from the 10.6 disk.
Follow these directions and make sure to erase the ENTIRE DRIVE first in Disk Utility or you will have issues later trying to fix it from the disk.

I bought a new laptop and used Windows Easy Transfer cable and moved all files from one computer to another. I installed iTunes and found my iTunes music Library. However, when I plug in my iPod it says it is already synced with another iTunes Library.
I don't see anything in Help that shows when you already have transfered all the files over. Why would it want to erase and sync when I already have all the music folder copied over? I didn't have an issue when I had another technician copy from one laptop to another. Home sharing is also on but not being recognized.I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
