I just bought Aperture 3.1.3 from App store.
All I get upon launching is the beach ball from ****. What gives?
It says something about loading Aperture library.
MacBook Pro Core Duo, OS 10.6.8.
A couple of different things could be happening here:
Your machine doesn't have enough "grunt" (hence previous question on configuration), or
You have done a large import and it's processing (you don't say whether this has happened, but I though I'd mention it just in case.

not sure what the problem might be, but you can try the following:
While pressing ALT+CMD on the keyboard, click on the Aperture icon in the dock: Aperture then opens in a special "recovery mode", and you're prompted to choose what kind of repair you need: Repair Permissions / Repair Database / Rebuild Database
Considering the situation, I'd recommend you to try "the "Repair Permissions" option first.
If that isn't enough (and it may well be the case), then go straight for the "Rebuild Database" option; it's a non-destructive opration anyway, but since you've just installed Aperture you shouldn't have anything valuable in the default library...
NOTE: if you do have some pictures in the library, instead, do a backup first! Time Machine is your friend
Another option would be to launch Aperture while keeping only the ALT (option) key pressed: Aperture will ask you what library you want to open, or you can choose to create a new one from scratch.

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner. -
Want to buy Aperture as a gift from app store.....
I already own aperture and would like to purchase it as a gift for someone else. When I find it on the app store, there is no "gift this app" option from the drop down menu next to the price. I am aware I could just go buy an itunes gift card, but I would like to be more personal and specific than that.

The alternative is to buy an iTunes Gift card/certificate sufficient to cover the cost of the app plus any sales taxes. You can buy a physical card(s) or an electronic version in the iTunes app on a Mac or PC. This person needs to be in the same country as you. Gift cards do not work across national boundaries. -

Bought Aperture 3.2.2 through App Store, crashing after install
This is a new install, not an upgrade. We are using Snow Leopard, not Lion. My husband has downloaded and installed Aperture, but gets an error that it must be updated through the App Store, however, there are no updates available...

Works, though the PluginManager file was much older than the one we renamed.
So, can an Apple person fill us in on what the problem is??? -

Aperture 3.1.1 update from app store
I bought aperture 3.1.1 in app store, but I can't update to new version 3.1.2 or 3.1.3, why?
Open the Mac App Store app, click on Purchases to see if Aperture is listed. If its there, it should tell you if an update is available. If it's not there, are you logged in to the same App Store account you used to purchase Aperture?
If you've moved Aperture out of the Applications folder or changed its name it could be the cause of your problem. Aperture should remain in the Applications folder and should be named "Aperture".
If you're using software update (from the Apple menu), that is another cause. App store purchases must be updated using the app store application. -

HIf the Combo installer did not work (what is the exact error message?), try to download Lion again from the AppStore, or boot into the Lion Recovery Partition:
OS X: About OS X Recovery
You can also try, to restore the missing framework from your backup.
You need to restore this folder from the System Library:
/Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager

My daughter has just bought me an iPad 2 from Dubai and set it all up for me but unfortunately the iMessage function doesn't seem to work. We keep getting messages,when trying to activate it, that there is a network connection problem - help!
Thank you both for your responses but my daughter was reassured by the salesman in the iStyle store (official Apple store in the UAE) that iMessages would work but conceded that FaceTime wouldn't. My iTunes account is registered in the uk and my daughter's iPhone has iMessages even though she bought it (and uses it) in Dubai. Can anyone else throw any light on this?

I just bought a new Ipod ios from a friend and she didn't reset it before she gave it to me and when I try to connect it to my laptop it keeps saying "Ipod is disable, connect to itunes"and it says to put in the correct passcode but I don't know what the passcode is and now I can't get ahold of my friend that sold it to me. So my question is: How do I reset the passcode and the Ipod touch so that I can sync it to my laptop and so that I can enjoy my new Ipod Touch?
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Hii all, I just bought an used iphone 5c from an user and only after a few weeks realised that it got activation locked. He might be unaware of that. Is it possible to get back to him and unlock the device for me as i have not contacts with him presently.
Well first you need to sync your iPhone 4 with your Mac/PC so that it will transfer all your music, apps, podcasts, etc. Then sync your iPod Touch and the media you selected during the sync should be there on your iPhone. If you have difficulty in transferring media from iPhone to your computer, try softwares like TransCopy. They will help in transferring data from your iphone to your computer. Dont forget to check that all the transferred data is in the iTunes media folder so that the iTunes can locate the files. Link to Transcopy software :

I just bought a 5th gen Ipod from someone and now it wont turn on/boot up
I just bought a 5th gen Ipod from someone and restored it to factory setting I then uploaded my music to it and ejected it but may have unplugged it to soon. Now the ipod just keeps trying to turn on but doesn't and it won't respond to manual reset has anyone had this problem and what was done to fix it? thank you for your time I would really appriciate it.
The 5th gen iPod "classic" was the first "video" iPod. It's video capability is more limited, and supported video resolution is lower, typically only 320x240. Even if the video is standard def (SD), and not HD, it is probably at least 640x480.
Also, current iTunes Store video content (such as TV shows and movies) uses DRM (copy protection). The 5th gen iPod was designed before the iTunes Store started selling video content (as it does now); I don't think it supports the DRM technology.
If you have video content that is not DRM'd and plays in iTunes (such as video podcasts), you may be able to use the convert command in iTunes. Select the item on a list in iTunes. From the iTunes menu bar
File -> Create New Version -> Create iPod or iPhone Version
That version may play on your iPod, so iTunes will sync it. -
Please help me. I have bought more 100 apps from apps store on my iPhone. Now I want to back up in my computer and my iPhone won't accept authorizing to my computer. I don't know why. I can't seem to touch all apps on the itunes when I connect my iPhone with. What should I do???
I already authorized my computer. But as soon as transferring is started, the message appear again says as "you've already authorized this computer" and the transferring stops.
It's keep on going around this way forever!!! Please help.
