I just bought ipod and..

Well i just bought a 30g ipod video and its not being found by itunes or the updater. updater always says cannot mount ipod. itunes just doenst find it. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, reseted my ipod, restarted my computer, and looked through all the thread information and its not helping. my ipod just sits at the do not disconnect screen. i went to add new hardware in control panel and found the ipod in this list, and my computer said its working properly. which leads me to believe that its a software problem and not a computer problem(as in locating the ipod). a also have tried every usb on my computer, they are all 2.0. need help please.

I had a similar problem. I hooked it up to the computer and it froze under language selection. I simply did as the instructions stated and held (i believe) the menu and center button until it reboots. Try this again.

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)

Other can be files that the iPod has "lost" or can no longer recognise.
So either you bought this second hand and it had someone else's stuff on it, or you were unlucky and the first Sync of your iPod to iTunes resulted in a lot of "Other".
Conect the iPod to iTunes and on the Device/Summary pane (tab) look for and select the Restore button.

You may have a hard drive problem. When I installed Lion, the installer told me that it couldn't complete because the hard drive was failing (or broken, the exact words escape me). Since the HD had been functioning just fine, I took it to the Genius Bar, and found out that yes, the hard drive was slowly dying (bad sectors). I couldn't reboot into Snow Leopard, the installer wouldn't let me and then the drive just wouldn't work at all.
I had to replace my drive and restore from Time Machine. Thankfully, I had Time Machine, and had just done a backup 5 minutes before the crash.

not sure what the problem might be, but you can try the following:
While pressing ALT+CMD on the keyboard, click on the Aperture icon in the dock: Aperture then opens in a special "recovery mode", and you're prompted to choose what kind of repair you need: Repair Permissions / Repair Database / Rebuild Database
Considering the situation, I'd recommend you to try "the "Repair Permissions" option first.
If that isn't enough (and it may well be the case), then go straight for the "Rebuild Database" option; it's a non-destructive opration anyway, but since you've just installed Aperture you shouldn't have anything valuable in the default library...
NOTE: if you do have some pictures in the library, instead, do a backup first! Time Machine is your friend
Another option would be to launch Aperture while keeping only the ALT (option) key pressed: Aperture will ask you what library you want to open, or you can choose to create a new one from scratch.

If the Combo installer did not work (what is the exact error message?), try to download Lion again from the AppStore, or boot into the Lion Recovery Partition:
      OS X: About OS X Recovery
You can also try, to restore the missing framework from your backup.
You need to restore this folder from the System Library:
     /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager

If you are using a Mac with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, OS X Lion or Mountain Lion (as you say in your post), you have to install QuickTime Player first in order to install QuickTime Pro with your key. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3678

How did you buy iWork (no 's', capital 'W')?
If you downloaded the trial version earlier, and have since purchased a serial number, iWork will ask you for the number the first time you launch one of the iWork applications after the trial period ends.
If you bought a retail box, or bought the individual applications through the Mac app store, no serial number is needed, but if any part of the trial version is still installed on your computer, you'll get a request to enter a serial number before proceeding.
In the last case, you must delete all traces of iWork and it's applications (but not the documents that you have created and saved), then reinstall the purchased versions from the DVD or from the app store.
For the simplest and most efficient means of deleting the trial version, go to Yvan Koenig's iDisk, then to:
for_iWork > iWork 09 > uninstall iWork 09.zip
Unzip the file, open with Script Editor and run.
