I just can't believe - there is no possible salvation for my old Jukebox

My son broke the LCD display of my (now his) old old 6MB Jukebox
everything works fine except the display that now presents a nice black spot on one side
but the portuguese assistance answered me that there was no possible repair!!!
so is my old Jukebox just a piece of garbage, now?!
I'm very concerned because that starts me thinking about my (not so) new JB3 and if (God forbids) something happens to it, it suddently becomes another piece of garbage!!!
is this true? are there no means of substituting the old display? are all Creative items supposed to become garbage after a short expectancy of life?
if this is so, I guess Creative should re-think it's pricing (or maybe I should think better if I should buy any other Creative product)
I really love my Jukebox, as a music lover, it was heaven sent when it appeared, I bought one of the very first to appear and then moved into another with a larger capacity
I'm posting this here with the firm believe that there will be someone from Creative that will answer me saying that there must be a mistake and that I can send my JB to this place for repair...

The only way the backup from ilcoud has been transferred to a new apple device would be if YOU restored the new device with the mentioned backup. There is nothing 'safe' about you deleting this backup if in fact you have not restored the new device with this backup.

No. but you can sell it privately and use the proceeds towards a newer used model.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. Has the unit EVER been jailbroke? Has it EVER been dropped? Did it EVER get excessively wet? Did you EVER load a pirated developer's version of the IOS?
If "No" to all the above, first try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore and you have IOS-6 or lower, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

Is there an alternative to Rosetta for Running old applications?

Our company has a Canon C3220 Colour Copier and a ColorPass Z3000 RIP with about 30 Macs printing to it. The installer for the Z3000 driver is an old Power PC application that no longer runs in OS 10.7. Is there an alternative to Rosetta for running the installer? Or does anyone know how to manually install the components by copying them over from a Mac running Snow Leopard? I've tried moving over the driver and PPD from the latter and placing them in the same locations in the Library folder on the former, but then get an error when I try to create a printer in System Prefs.
I know the driver/PPD still works, as they work in Lion on Macs that have been upgraded from Snow Leopard after the driver was installed. I've looked around on the web and asked Canon about an upgraded installer, but they don't support this model anymore, even though it's not that old and was a VERY expensive setup to buy.

Not really. You can downgrade back to Snow Leopard, but only if you have a model that supports Snow Leopard.
Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

I have posted a question about using an external bootable drive on this forum. One answer was coming at the time I called Apple Care for which I paid to go with my IMAC.
After spending a LONG time dealing with an incompetent person acting as a filter, I finally got the next level technician, who I believe was competent.
Form him I hear that Apple does not support any kind of procedure related to booting on an external drive (such as a clone that you might need in some instance...)
The problem is that my Imac does not recognize an external bootbale drive when I restart the computer with holding the ALT key, while it does recognize the exact samr disk when I shut off the computer and restart holding the alt key..
I thought the technical support form Apple care would be able to tell me what could be wrong ...all what I learnt is that a procedure that I used for more than 20 years on MAc , recommended in apple manuals that I got with my (many) previous computers , is not a "standard Apple procedure "
Is this a joke ?
Can someone comment on that ?

this is complete and utter nonsense. your second apple care rep was just as ignorant as the first one. see my response in your other thread.

I find it hard to believe that we can't delete previous mail recipients on the ipad 2 just like we are able on the MBP. Also, why not be able to email to groups that are in my address book. Come on Apple these are really needed.

Update - I discovered that the entire list of bookmarks can be accessed in the Organize Bookmarks window by clicking on the icon for Bookmarks Menu.
This seem like odd interface behaviour to me.
All the other software I use follows the pattern that an icon with a triangle to the left, which you click on to expand the menu tree downwards, shows the entire contents of the category when you click on the triangle. In other words, you don't get a different response by clicking on the icon from what you get by clicking on the triangle.
It also seems odd to me that when an unsorted bookmarks folder is automatically provided that unsorted bookmarks would not be placed there by default.
Anyway, by getting the list of bookmarks displayed this way I was able to simply right-click on items in the list and delete them, as I thought I should be able to do. Problem solved. Organize Bookmarks interface found to be somewhat unintuitive.
