I just charged my ipod. while charging i could read the menu but then it all turned to lines. how do i fix it?
My ipod was completely dead when i started charging it. once it turned on i could read the screen. by the time it was completely charged all i can see is shifting lines. can i fix it?

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.

Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity. A third party service will actually replace the damage part for a little less. Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

While attempting to update my ipad2 with the 8.1.3 update, screen froze towards the end of the update. Tried to turn it off by holding power butter to do a hard reset, but it won't turn off. How do I fix this?
Have you tried a soft-reset : Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should reappear and it will hopefully reboot.

- Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.

I've been deleting stuff to clear up space, and it's not clearing anything up. I went from 3.0 gigs to 2.3 just from deleting apps and photos and music. You said you updated yur 1G iPod to 4.2.1. A 1G can only go to 3.1.3 and thus you must have jailbroken it to get to 4.2.1 and that can cause problems.

My iPad is not being recognized by the computer, therefore, cannot sync. It charges when plugged to the wall, but not when pugged to iMac.
Most common culprits include the cable. Try swapping it out for a different one.. or not having the most recent version of itunes. I once even solved this problem by shutting down the computer for 2 minutes. (the longer the better), with the ipad plugged in. starting it up... then itunes recognizes it, launches, and syncs.

It will advise you to reboot. I recommend shutting down instead.

P.S The ipad should charge when asleep and plugged into your Mac. The charging behavior is normal. There isn't enough power out the USB ports to charge the ipad while it is on on some older Macs and nearly all PCs. -

Respond please!Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then see if you can redownload your past music purchases (those that are still in the store) via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you are not in a country where music can currently be re-downloaded, then have you not got it on your computer and/or on a backup ? Wine, were you charging over the USB Connection or AC Power? We've found in our organization that at times not enough power is generated over USB to recharge it in situations like this...I quote from the email of a fellow technician that i just received today...
I’ve had a couple of users up here bring their iPhones to me so dead that the phone was unresponsive, no matter what we did. One thing that many people do not realize is that the iPhone (iOS devices in general) have power management in them. The power management appears to be set up so that the device will not power on at all until the battery is at a certain minimum level. If the user will plug the device into the power adapter, not a USB port on a computer (laptops especially), and leave it for about an hour, maybe longer, the device will come back to life.
The reason I say they have to use the power adapter is because the USB port is not high enough power to bring the charge up fast enough for the battery to come back out of “hibernation”.
Each time I have had the users do the power adapter plug in, and leave it for a couple of hours, the devices have come back to life

Start with contacting AT&T to see if they can fix it.
If not, restoring your phone, first from a backup, then as new, would be the next steps.
