I just connected a new airport express to my stereo but the itunes on my desktop mac isn't version 4.6 and every attempt to download the newer version only ends up downloading 4.1. How do i get my desktop itunes to play through airport express?

You are asking several different questions. If you need to store your photos, music, and movies on an external volume, you certainly can. Any externally connected hard disk drive will work, connected either directly to your Mac or to your Time Capsule as a shared volume.
You should not rely upon using that as a backup device though. Although you certainly may use it for both purposes, it is a better idea to have dedicated backup devices for a variety of reasons not limited to redundancy. You would not want to simultaneously lose all your pictures as well as your backup. If they are all on the same device, that could happen. Furthermore, a backup cannot back up the volume on which it is running.
As for adding an Extreme or Express, using its LAN port for your iMac, and then enable Internet sharing so you can effectively use the iMac as a "hotspot", you can do that too, but I am unclear on what benefit you believe this arrangement would convey for you.
An Extreme's Guest network is separate from its Main network; that is the reason for having it.

My question is... isn't the Alesis MultiMix6 a full fledged audio interface?
If you're using Logic Nine you set the Preferences/Audio/Input to the Alesis as it should be your primary recording interface. The output can be set to the Mac's built-in audio. Then the audio outs of the drum machine, (as well as any other audio outs) are plugged into the Alesis.
But here's the thing... why do you spend money on a mixer/audio interface and then try and use the cheap built-in audio of the Mac for anything? The Alesis is designed to be the center hub of the studio.
Your speakers should be plugged into the audio interface so that when using Logic the Alesis is both the Main input and Main output, your audio will sound better. If you need to monitor the Macs output maybe you can set it up in the Mac's audio setup. (monitor the mac through the USB connection.)

I used Migration Assistant to transfer my data from my external hard drive via Time Capsule to my restored Mac Book Pro. When I now go into Time Capsule I there are red minus signs in the corner of all the folders that are contained in my back up. How do I get rid of this and access my previous back-ups?
Select the drive and Finder > Get info and at the bottom "ignore permissions on this volume"
You can copy the files, but the ownership on the files still belongs to the other user account, once your done copying, then perform a #6 Reset Users Permissions and that will set all the ownership to that account.

How do I get my iphone 4 to play through the ear piece?
I bought an iPhone 4 yesterday.
I cannot get it to play through the headset (ANY headset; I have tried several). I have tried it in the ipod and the phone mode and checked all the settings. The finger tips explain nothing and I can find no other information to tell me how to make it play through the headset. It seems as though I should only have to plug in the headset and I should be able to hear through the headset rather than the iphone itself.
I've had over 25 Apple (hardware) products over many years, and this is truly the most difficult to comprehend or use.

If your car doesn't have an Auxillary port, you can buy something like the Griffin iTrip, which allows you to set your iPod to transmit on a specific FM frequency, and you can just tune your car to that station. You can find that anywhere electronics are sold. -

Things are hit and miss as far as client names being displayed in AirPort Utility. You might see a device name displayed at times and not at other times.
Unfortunately, Apple provides no settings or controls in AirPort Utility for this. Things will not look like the nice Apple advertisements if that is what you might be hoping for.

If you downloaded it from the app store on your computer's iTunes then connect your iPhone to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and then use the Apps tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select and sync that app to the phone.
If you downloaded it somewhere else then you won't be able to copy it to your phone - only iTunes apps work on iOS devices, PC and Mac software aren't compatible with them. -

Have you copied your content over from your old computer and onto the new on ? If you no longer have your old computer then have you got a backup of your content that you can copy onto the new computer and add into iTunes ?

It sounds like you would like to download your iTunes purchases to your computer rather than streaming them from iTunes in the Cloud. I recommend downloading your purchases directly to your computer using the Purchases page in the iTunes Store:
Download previous iTunes Store purchases to an authorized computer
Click iTunes Store near the top of the iTunes window.
Click the Purchased link at the right of the iTunes Store homepage (below Quick Links).
In the page that appears, select a category.
iTunes shows you which of your purchases are available for download. You can view all of your past purchases, or just the ones not currently in your iTunes library. Items already in your library aren’t available for download. If you select Music, you can view your purchases by song, artist, or album. If you’re viewing by album, click an album to see which songs on it are available for downloading.
To download all available items, click Download All.

Take a look at Apple's document for authorizations -> iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization.
You can deauthorize all computers from iTunes. All you have to do is click iTunes Store, click your account name in the upper right corner of iTunes, then deauthorize all. -
I just finished using iTunes, closed out and then tried to get ack in. Got this message "The iTunes library .9tl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file." How can I get back ino iTunes ?
I actually figured it out...I had to go to the iTunes Library Extras.itdb file and give myself permission to have full control. THEN, I could go and estore a previos version. Once I had done this, I got the same message for iTunes Library Genius.itdb . . . I did the same thing with it and Voila'!!

My intent was to report that there was at least one other user encountering a similar problem. It occurred to me that Adobe might be interested in determining the scale of a problem which causes one of their best known products to fail to run quite so completely after a clean install
I also see that I misreported the OS I'm running - its Windows 8.

The X230 has Intel HD 4000 graphics support built in to the processor. Windows was pretty stubborn about refusing driver updates, but I just managed to get drivers from the Intel site to install and Photoshop is now running, so hopefully I need not try your patience any further.
In case anyone else has a similar problem and stumbles on this the way to install the driver that worked was to:
- download the zip version of the generic driver from Intel
- use the 'have disk' option in the windows dialog to install the driver - other paths in the UI did not work with windows refusing to install the driver.
