I just did something really stupid. How do you unintall something I just installed?

I was surfing looking for certain images for my 11 year old's school project. It went into a site that was very inopopreiate. All the sudden, Mac protector came on and I installed it thinking this is the way to protect my computer and now the image is keep popping up and I cannot erase it. I don't know how to install this. Will someone help me?

How do you erase mountain lion to install snow leopard?

Hi, My mother now has a new to her late 09 mini that originally shipped with snow leopard. When she bought it it came with mountain lion preinstalled from a private seller. We were thinking that to be on the safe side that it might be better to erase and install what's on it just to be sure it is secure. I tried to erase and install snow leopard from a disk but it says that the installer is not compatible with this version of osx(mountain lion). Question: How do I erase mountain lion and install snow leopard?
I've read here that there is possibly a built in recovery disk that I can use to erase and reinstall mountain lion. Q: Is there a built in recovery disk available in my situation? and if so should I use it or be even safer by installing snow leopard instead?

How do you get an engineer to install infinity?

I have ordered BT infinity 6 times since January 2012 and each time my appointment has been cancelled by BT at the last minute. Every time I am told the order has not progressed to the engineers, however each time the appointment has been scheduled and detailed on ''MY BT''
I took this morning off for the scheduled appointment but BT didnt turn up. The reason BT have given me is the same as before ie the order did not progress to the engineers. BT mod team are trying to reschedule with a new appointment and will book the engineer directly, however that is what they said the last time. How do you actually get an engineer on site to install infinity?

How do you change Metro apps default install location?

I can't seem to find an answer for this any ware, I have a 120gb ssd drive that I use for my os, and some programs. I have another 1.5tb drive that has most of my applications and data. Since space is kind of limited on my ssd drive, I would
like to change the default install location for metro apps (Microsoft store apps, or what ever it's called) to point to my larger hard drive. I don't see a way of doing this myself, so I figured I would ask here. I also work for a company that
sells custom built computers, and this is a very popular setup, but I can see this quickly becoming a problem with this type of setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Here is what I did. I must warn that I haven't had any issues on my own machine doing this, but you might, so proceed with caution. Also, it's always a good idea to create a restore point before
starting.
1. Create a folder on your other drive that you want the applications to install to. I used the same location on my system, only on the other drive.
2. Now open up regedit, and go to this location.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx
3. Now right click on the "Appx" folder, and go to "Permissions"
4. Click "Advanced", and click "Change" at the top to change the owner.
5. Type in "Administrators" for the owner, and click ok, then ok again.
6. This should take you back to the regular permissions window. From here make sure "Administrators" or your user name have "Full Control", and click ok.
7. Now double click on "PackageRoot", This should bring up the String Editor.
8. Change the "Value Data" to the new folder you created, and hit ok, and close the registry editor.
9. Lately, give your machine a reboot, and you should be all set.

did this to no avail. I am getting error message "this app couldn't be installed" error code 0x80073cfd.

am doing this on a Windows Surface RT. Here is what I did:
1. refreshed Surface to original setup
2. uninstalled all preinstalled metro apps (could not uninstall store and IE)
3. updated all windows updates (there's 3 and they are time consuming)
4. Created the same folders on my SD Card (\Program Files\WindowsApps\)
5. took ownership over appropriate registry item (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx)
6. Changed the drive letter for the "PackageRoot" (from C to D on my device)
7. Shut down (full shut down) and restarted my device
When I got back in, I tried to install the metro apps and I got the above error.
Any thoughts as to why?

I downloaded some of these extensions apple had on their web site yesterday to my iMac and they created an inch wide toolbar which is NOT what I wanted. I would like to delete these extensions but I can't find them anywhere. I've looked in my downloads and my application files, as well as my documents. I called apple support and they couldn't help me either. Please, is their anyone out there that can help me?

If you installed apps from the Mac App Store just go to your Applications folder and move them to the Trash.
If you are referring to Safari Extensions, that's something else.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Extensions tab. You can uninstall Extensions from there.

I was downloading a song and i lost my internet connection. Since that happened the song says its downloaded but it actually cuts off in the middle of the song. Does anyone know how to start a download over on a laptop? Thanks

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:

How do you abort a Boot Camp install?

Hello,
I figured I'd give this whole BootCamp under Leopard thing a try just so I could see how it's done.
So I started the install and it rebooted to my XP CD. It says, "Press any key to boot off the CD" So I continue to press any key, but when I get to the setup screen my keyboard doesn't work at all! Same Mac keyboard I've always used and even works with my PC. It won't accept any keys so I can't continue the XP install. So I power off and and on and eject the disk. Now I get:
"No bootable device. Insert boot disk and press any key."
I don't have another Mac Keyboard, but I've tried using my PC's keyboard, which lights up when plugged into any computer. I also lights up when plugged into my Mac, but now I can't get passed the "Press Any Key to boot from CD" So it seems that I'm stuck! I can't even get back to my OSX desktop! It seems to be stuck in the middle of the Bootcamp setup, which I can't complete for some strange reason.
HELP! Even just to cancel this install. I've also tried booting off my Leopard and Tiger discs, but no go. I still get the message that the disk can't be found.
Can someone at least tell me how you abort a BootCamp install? Right now, my Mac Mini is less useful than a brick! It's a glorified paper weight! Thank God I've got another computer cause I'd really be screwed otherwise.
Very very strange that the Leopard DVD nor the Tiger CD works when trying to boot off of either one though.
Thoughts? Opinions? Ideas?

Ok, this is very strange, but suppose I it might explain why my keyboard wasn't working during the XP install. I noticed that my Caps lock light wasn't turning on when I pressed that key. So I switched and connected my Dell keyboard and used the Alt key for Option. Then it showed me my hard drive, no other partitions like I had expected. I clicked the Hard Drive and it continued to boot up.
Now, what's up with my keyboard, it's an Apple keyboard (the new slim one with the number keypad); it works great on my Dell. But not on my Mac? Huh? My Apple Keyboard isn't working on my Apple computer? Huh? Am I in Bizzaro world here?

How do you uninstall and then re-install iMovie?

I posted here last week about having trouble with iMovie and still can't figure out why it is being so lame... SO. I was thinking that I may just unload and then reinstall the program. Would anyone recommend that or is that a bad idea? I guess I will lose all the projects I've done thus far but I suppose it would be worth it to be able to use the program again! How would I go about doing this?

ImportExportTools is good for saving/backup of your mail. For what you want, probably the zipped folders would be the easiest. You can export your address book(s) to a file (use LDIF; it's much easier to import later).
However, these are only pieces of the profile. With TB NOT running, you can copy your entire profile to another location/medium just by doing a file copy. Look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_how-to-find-your-profile I copy mine to a USB memory.
When you uninstall and reinstall TB, you will not be changing your profile! So if you want a really clean start, see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles to create a new/clean profile. Don't delete your old one; you may need parts of it.
If things are still 'wonky' after a new start, let me know.

How do you know new HH5 configuration installed?

I've been monitoring the TR069 logs on my HH5 for the last week or so for the 'fix'. I've not spotted the download, although the hub has seemed a little more stable.
I did notice overnight that there had been a couple of reboots as stated in the 'system' section of the event log and I still get the regular "Set Parameter by TR069 Success" in the TR069 log (as can be seen from a couple of extracts from these logs below):

Well after all the 'parameter' messages, just had another reboot which seems to relate to the router attempting a connection to somewhere.
It wouldn't be so bad but when you are in the middle of a VPN connection to you rmployer it can brick some of your work stored on the company's server what you are working on. Frustrating.

How can you create a disk to install i-tunes

A friend of mine cannot download itunes on to her labtop for work because of certain restrictions on the computer. They told her she would be able to install the program from a disk. Nonetheless, I have not firgured where or how to accomplish this. I would appreicate any help. Thanks.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

How can you fix error DF024 when installing the Adobe Premiere Pro CC trial off of the cloud?

I recently tried to install the trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC off of the Creative Cloud. I was able to fix most of the errors that popped up, all except for this one:

2. During installation "charlemagnestd-Bold.otf" font in C:\Windows\Fonts\ is not preserved due to some permission issues on this folder. You can do any of the following:
A. Move "charlemagnestd-Bold.otf" font in C:\Windows\Fonts\ to another location like Desktop and try again
B. Give permission to Everyone on this (C:\Windows\Fonts\) folder and try again

From Product Management: How do you clone your installation

I'm interested in what approaches you take for cloning a production Forms/Middleware environment. So you've done one install, but you need x number of instances set up. How do you do it?
Manual install each time?
Some clever copying of files?
Some other solution?
Please let me know (including version number),how easy/painful it is, and also whether you think the ability to clone an installation would be something that would be useful to you.

Hello Grant,
I am just in the process of migrating a load-balanced OAS 10g Forms+Reports environment with many applications to 11g, and I think that the cloning facility of 10g is really missing now. Until now I have not missed it much because I have mainly upgraded customers with at most 2 nodes, but now I have to do a 4 node installation, and that is much more work without good cloning facilities.
What I plan to do to make the cloning as easy as possible is the following:
- I first install all software (JDK, WebLogic and Forms-Reports 11.1.2) in the middleware home
- Then I configure a domain+instance: I create the domain and instance files all outside the middleware home (only possible with 11.1.2 installer) on one node
- I configure all applications on it
- Then I just copy the middleware home (+ inventory) to the other nodes (using shared storage for it is also an option)
- Then I configure a new domain on each node. Although this seems overhead (compared to expanding an existing domain/cluster) it is easier to make identical nodes
- For Forms configuration I have to create all custom .env files on each node using EM (I have not found out how to register these to the MBean without EM)
- Then I shutdown the WLS_FORMS and copy formsweb.cfg and all .env files from the first node
- Other files that may need to be copied: webutil.cfg, base html files (if modified), jvmcontroller.cfg, custom jar-files and dll-files (for webutil)
- For Reports we do a similar thing: we only use stand-alone reportsservers, so copying the rwserver.conf, rwservlet.properties, rwnetwork.conf and custom font (ttf) files does it
Although this does not seem too much work, it has the disadvantage that you really need a multi-step description of the cloning process, while in previous releases a single step cloning could be performed by anybody. And it is easier to make mistakes and and up with differences in the nodes.
I worked on a large project with multiple OAS 10.1.3 nodes, and the cluster facility in that version was great. Any config changes were propagated to all nodes.
I think it would be a great idea to have the following functionality in Forms 12:
- Expand a Forms cluster should also clone all configuration (also of copies of formsapp for those who deploy a formsapp per Forms application).
A nice-to-have would be to give the option to create more than 1 Forms cluster in a domain.
- Give EM FMW Control the ability (as in 10.1.3) to change a configuration property of all members of a cluster in one go (but allow differences)
Hope this helps you for the strategy for the next geneartion of Forms.
