I just discovered that all of my photos on iPhoto are gone.  I have no idea of how it happened, or where the photos are.  Can anyone help me to find them?

I do have most of the photos on my iPhone, but am scared that if I sync it w my Mac, which now has no iPhotos, it may erase the pictures from my phone, too.
Is there anyway to transfer the photos safely to my Mac from my iPhone?

In your Itunes account.
