I just down graded back to 8.0.0
got my phone back.... i had to download 8.0 to my desktop, then thru iTunes in a weird way upgraded to 8.0.0

What Mac model do you have? You might be able to upgrade the OS to Tiger 10.4 or Leopard 10.5.
Even browsers for Tiger 10.4 will get the update message.
You could try a newer browser than Safari, which is obsolete, by downloading Firefox v2.0.0.20 at http://www.oldapps.com/mac/firefox.php

What are BT or BT Wholesale playing at the minute with my broadband? Yesterday I was on ADSL Max WBC.
Yesterday my Router settings said my Modulation was 992.1, my Line Attenuation was 50.0 dB and my IP Profile was 4000kbps. My Noise Margin would usually hang around between 5.8 - 6.7 dB.
Check earlier today and suddenly my Modulation was 992.5, my Line Attenuation was 53.3 dB and my IP Profile was 5782kbps. Noise Margin was 2.8 dB and hadn't seen it go any higher.
Now I just go and check again not 20 minutes ago and now my Modulation is 992.3, Line Attenuation is back to 50.0 dB and IP Profile reset to 5166kbps and the Noise Margin is still 2.8 dB.
No I know my line (cable length) is just over 2 miles, about 3.5km so know I will never see 10mbps+ but is it normal for BT to keeps Upgrading yout then suddenly Down Grading it later the same day?
Oh, the speedtester has not done my upload speed but yesterday it averaged about 0.36mbps and now it regularly comes out at 0.75mbps.

I just got it back from the apple store and they reset it (becuase it kept shutting down and not turning back on).
I put in a new password because i needed to start over from factory settings, but now it doesnt let me log in anymore. (I don't know if this is because it doesnt accpet my password, or I forgot my password in less than 5 minutes, or because when i typed in my new password, i typed it in wrong twice)
Command R doesnt work, all i hear is a sound, but nothing happens.What I don't understand is why it is rejecting a password I am creating.
Perhaps the password you are creating is too short, or has characters that are not allowed, or is not secure enough because it is a word in a dictionary.
FileVault may have standards for what it considers an acceptable password. If the password is part of the 128-bit encryption scheme, it might have to be 16 characters, for example. (Don't know if that is true, but it's a possibility.) Check your documentation for password requirements. -

Have just down loaded Yosemite over Mountain Lion, Indesign CS5 does not work ( Am dependant on it) although Bridge , Light Room and Elements operate OK How do I solve this rapidly. Can any one help on this issue. Thanks
Sorry to say it, but I think you can see from Bob's response that there's no way to solve this rapidly.
Did you take an image of your Mountain Lion install before upgrading to Yosemite? Roll back to that. If you're not in the habit of taking a snapshot of your system before performing operating system upgrades - get in that habit. If you are dependent on anything at all on hour computer, having a reliable backup method in place is essential. If you don't have a Time Capsule, or some other way to run Time Machine onto a disk that's not in your computer, go set that up yesterday.
If you can't just remove Yosemite and roll back to Mountain Lion for whatever reason, you can partition your drive so that you can install both Yosemite and Mountain Lion on the same drive, and then boot into Mountain Lion when you need to work in CS5. Or you can take your Mountain Lion disc (I assume you have one, no?) and then use it to create a virtual machine in something like VirtualBox to run Mountain Lion from inside Yosemite. -
WRT150N MUST BE POWERED DOWN AND BACK UP!
Good day, I have a problem with my WRT150N in that each morning before I can access the router I must power it off and then power it back up. Until I power down/up the router, Windows and Linksys both show no network available. Not a matter of a network available and unable to connect, just no network available. It is a simple process but very annoying..once this is done the connection is good except for dropping the connection every so often but this is easily corrected by allowing windows to "Repair" the connection..and then it will work until the next dropped connection, which may be in 2 minuets or 2 hrs. This "Repair" works about 95% of the time and on the occasions that it does not work, I do have to power down and back up the WRT150N and it works fine. I have had the WRT150N for about 6 months and have had this problem for a couple of months now. I use the WPC300N adapter with XP. The dropped connection is just the wireless connection as the wired connection will work when the wireless does not. I have not updated the firmware to the router as it is version 1.1. The uninstall and reinstall did not work..if fact it disabled the router and put me back to doing a complete uninstall of everything..all the software, reset the router, only then would it work but with the same problem..I have been in live chat with three different techs and they all have a different solution...one thinks my adaptor might be at fault..don't buy that, one suggested I upgrade my firmware but when I log on to check for updates it tells me I have the latest verison..1.01.9, the version listed on the Linksys site for latest version for the WRT150N and the other one didn't seem to have a clue before we got cut off...so, I am back to where I was..able to access the net and can do so with no problem...it's just that I have to do a power down and power up before I can log on to the router...I use Windows for my connection..I don't know why the uninstall and the reinstall did what it did but I do not want to go through that again..If you have any other ideas I would appreciated it..Thanks and have a great day! -
Interclue fails to initialize upon restart from either shut down or back out of hibernation. Works when re-installed, but then fails every time. What would cause this situation. Never had problems with this add-on with Firefox until I downloaded Firefox 4.0. I can disable, re-start, enable,re-start, and it works fine. The same scenario holds true if I uninstall and then re-install add-on.
Just a guess, but I wonder if you have some application or process hanging up that's stopping it from shutting down? You might try closing each application individually and see if this helps.

I just bought and backed up my computer and time machine with a "Seagate BackUp Plus for Mac". Now my time machine is empty. Panicked. can anyone help?
Lets start over...
Please restart the network.. shut down everything..
Restart in order.. modem.. router.. if different to TC.. or TC.. client devices.. wait 2min between each startup.
If the TC does not show up on the computer, in finder.. then we need more info.. what OS are you running?
Does the TC show up in Airport utility? Are you running wireless or ethernet?
If you still have issues.. plug the TC directly into the computer by ethernet.
Do a full factory reset of the TC.. and see if it now shows up.
Please tell us exactly what model TC it is and how old.. the A1xxx model number from the base will help if you don't know.

My TC is named Tardis4.. click on it.. and then open the data folder.. on this one called Tardisdata.
Then take a screen shot of it so we can see what the problem is.. screenshot.. with area selection.. control + shift + 4 .. the picture goes into the desktop.. and then you click the picture icon in the posting web page controls and select the picture. -
Whenever I open my notes it crashes, sending me back to my gome screen. I have tried turning my ipad off, closing it down fully, backing up my ipad... I don't know what to do. Please help.
Reset it by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release. This just restarts it, you won't lose any data by doing this.

UP/DOWN, HOME, BACK, ETC. ILLUMINATION QUESTION
I have just gotten TWO Envy4500 printers where the up/down, home, back, question mark, etc. keys DO NOT ILLUMINATE. I have had HP trouble shoot both and they can't figure out what is going on. Also I have gotten conflicting answers as to if/when these keys SHOULD illuminate. Seems to me that if you can't see the keys when they aren't illuminated, they should be illuminated at all times. Can anybody confirm that these keys should be illuminated AT ALL TIMES??? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I have been trying to log onto the Wounded Warriors Program Portal. I can Log in and then when I click on the rewards it tried to go to the page the just takes me back to the same page I was on. Both Mail and Safari have Activity Options that open a screen that shows you just how the site or mail is loading.
In Safari if you are having trouble with a site in activity you will see the count of items being downloaded - and if an error occurs it shows red.
On the top is the number of items it is loading or trying to load and the count should be increasing. If the count stops, and you don't have errors it may be that too many people are going after the same site and your request just timed out. Have had the time out on a news site when trying to load a most popular article. -
Hi, I want to use my Capsule just as a back up via wireless. How do I set this up without connecting it with an ethernet cable to either a router or the iMac??
I misunderstood what Time Capsule is and had hoped for a wireless backup device that didn't have to be connected to the router.
The TC is a wireless backup device.. it does not need to be connected to the main router..
The problem is the computer.. not the TC.. the computer has only one wireless card.. if your current internet is by wireless.. then you must choose.. internet or backup.
But my other suggestion will work.. get a wireless USB stick compatible with Mac OS.. there are plenty and cheap.. since you are in the same room as the TC they will work fine.. plug it in and load the driver.. taint hard.
You should do the first backup by ethernet though.. wireless is too slow.. once you have that, you will do fine.

I have no idea if it works .. haven't tried one.. but I have used USB wireless stick on the Mac to overcome this issue.

In the listener LOG file... Is the PORT information refering to the port on the oracle server ... or is this the port on the client machine from which the connection request was made? This PORT info comes right after the IP of the client machine.
