What is the format of the song files?
What is the bitrate of each file?
Do some have DRM protection?
Any error messages?
Do you have all these songs checked in itunes?
There is a setting to sync only checked songs, on the main tab of your ipod

I go ahead and authorize by going into iTunes/store/authorize computer, I verify the information that is given. I go back and try to redownload the apps and I get the same exact message, this computer is not authorized for this device. What am I doing wrong?

I have been trying to work through this problem by myself and have so far downloaded the most current version of iTunes. Frome there when it tells me I have to authorize this computer, I had to not put in the iPad information, I had to authorize with my current iTunes information, and any iPad or iPod, iPhone information. I have several people in the family that have different accounts, so I had to authorize each and every individual account because I didnt know which apps or music was purchased under which user. When I went to play the songs it gets 40-50 seconds into it the abrubtly stops and switches to the next song. If its any help it was the "Get scraped" album by deadmau5

try going into your purchased file on the left side of iTunes, and play it from there. you can delete the purchased song if it doesn't play, and re-download it as well. just be sure to toss it, and library files into trash, then re-download from your purchased file.

Older versions of iTunes cannot read libraries created with newer versions of iTunes. You need to have the same version of iTunes on all your PCs. Is that the case?

They seem to be word files - they will open if I choose "open with" microsoft word, but if I double click they don't open they are appearing as PDF on my screen. I even opened one and then tried to "save as" making sure I chose .doc and they still appear as PDF

You might try to see if you can change your security questions. Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account > Password and Security.
I'm able to do this, others say they need to input answers to their current security questions in order to make changes, I'm inclined to think its worth a try, you don't have anything to lose.
If that doesn't help you might try contacting Apple through Express Lane (select your country, navigate to iCloud help and enter the serial number of one of your devices)

Ringtones are currently a one-time only download from the store. Assuming Allan's advice is not correct, and you do run the installer, I think I've heard of that problem and it involves removing the old Flash plug-ins, then install the new version. I don't use it so I don't know what they are called, but will be the /Library/Internet Plug-ins folder.
You can go here and enable HTML5 in YouTube so you don't have to use Flash: http://www.youtube.com/html5
Most(?) of the content is HTML5, but you may run into videos where you still need Flash.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen

i just downloaded ios 6.1.2 and now my iphone 4 wont accept a charging device there is no error message, there is no little lightening bolt in the battery icon to show its charging, i have tried several cords and several wall outlets and hard rebooted my iphone several times and still it wont charge. if there is anybody that can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

I believe what is happening is that when charge gets below a certain level (maybe less than 5% remaining), the indicator stops properly functioning. I'm experiencing this issue on both my iPhone and iPad and if I leave them plugged in, eventually they start charging or showing that they are charging. I'm traveling so this is the first time on 6.1.2 that my devices have been below 10% since the update. I bet in the last update, to appease those with drain issues, the battery charge indicator was manipulated much in the same way the celluar bars were several years ago for those who where "holding" their phones incorrectly.
