I just downloaded Adobe Reader XI

to test the pdf to "other format" conversion, but I can't figure out how to get it to actually DO the conversion

No. I'm trying to look at the the .pdf to text capability for our company but our corporate PCs are prohibited from receiving outside downloads. We have a potential use for the conversion engine in an application we are developing to load text data into our system from scanned .pdf documents.
What do I need to do to get a subscription for ExportPDF?
I'd like to test the capabilities of the conversion before my 30 day free trial runs out.
Also if you can tell me if the conversion engine itself is available for inclusion in an application, either PC or mainframe, that would be helpful. We would want to use the capability without manual intervention if possible, feeding it a document stream and getting converted text output in a dataset of some kind.
I can't officially speak for our company since I don't have any contractual authority, but I am pursuing this on behalf of a large corporation.
Anything you can do to assist would be most appreciated.
Feel free to call

  • I just downloaded adobe reader and can't print a pdf file

i just downloaded adobe reader and cannot print a pdf file.

    Same or related issue.
After installing latest updates of Mac Mavericks and Adobe Reader, I can't open pdfs downloaded from the web or print pdfs from the web. Using "export" doesn't help. Same with the print/pdf workaround.
I uninstalled/reinstalled Reader. I indicated Adobe Reader as my default opener for pdf-type files. No help.
    I'm using Safari.

AcroRd32.exe Error, The instruction at 0x9068675f reference memory at 0x9068675f. The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the program.  2.) Adobe Reader ha stopped working, a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution ia available.

What is the Reader XI version you installed?
Does this also happen when you open Reader by itself?  If not, can you try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • I have just downloaded Adobe reader but am unable to launch documents as 'license agreement' needed

I have just downloaded Adobe Reader but am unable to launch documents as 'license agreement' must first be 'Agreed" ??  Where can I do this?

Assuming you're on a Mac, you launch Adobe Reader like any other app, from Applications. If there is more than one Adobe Reader shown, start and quit each one in turn.

  • Just downloaded adobe reader X. how do I change setting to open a file as a pdf file instead of word

Just downloaded adobe X reader   pdf files open as a word doc.  how do I change setting to only open doc as a pdf doc

Do you mean that MS Word is opening your pdf files? If so, you just need to change your file associations.
It's easy enough to do but how to do it depends on your operating system.

  • I have Adobe Acrobat installed and recently updated and just downloaded Adobe Reader, which is running, and still cannot open a PDF.

Nothing happens. I get the same screen that tells me to download the computer.

You'll need to right-click, download the pdf and use File>Open from within Reader. That combination is not supported any more. Chrome broke it.

Lol... it's now DC.  If you have 11.0.10 that's the last version.  If you need a download link for 11 It's here:

  • We downloaded Adobe Reader XI and our PC no longer works properly.

We run Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3, and use Internet Explorer 8.  We once were running a Trend Micro AntiVirus that seemed capable of producing some issues, but we believe it to be disabled.  Before downloading Reader XI, we were able to easily use PDF files in many ways.  When there was a web site we were using that offered us a look at a document, such as a statement, or a blank state government report form, we could click on it, and the pdf would pop up in a window associated with Explorer, where we could view it, and then decide whether to print it.  We can no longer do that.  We still can use some pdf's, but not pdf's that are made available to us via the Internet in that fashion.  A few weeks ago, upon startup, we saw a message on our desktop that we ought to download the latest Adobe Reader. We downloaded Adobe Reader XI. The problem immediately started. We uninstalled Reader XI. We reinstalled. The problem persisted immediately upon reinstall.  In between the uninstall and reinstall, we looked at our system attempting to find an older version of Reader we could reinstall in preference to XI, but we saw nothing under our Control Panel Install/Uninstall programs, and so nothing on our hard drive.  Now, when we attempt to click on a "View" hyperlink on many websites, the pop up window, that would have at one time showed us the document or pdf file, pops up blank, turns dark gray, and stays inert for 2 or 3 minutes, followed by the appearance of the error message stating that we have a problem with our programming, or, if the Reader is already running, shut it, and try again.  The reader is not already running.  We have tried rebooting and re-trying to view, but we get the same error message.  We have some old pdf's stored on our hard drive.  We can double click the file names and open and read and print the files in Reader XI.  We can also add new pdf's to our hard drive if they arrive as attachments to e-mails; or, if at a web site offering a view of a document we need, if the web site offers also an ALTERNATE hyperlink by which we may DOWNLOAD the file, then, we can get the file via download, and open it.  The Reader XI is not inoperable.  It will not work with various websites in Explorer 8 that offers a VIEW hyperlink rather than a DOWNLOAD hyperlink.  What can we do? If we download Google Chrome, will it work?

Internet Explorer is, as we in the web design world call it, "the problem child" of browsers. It seems as the rest of the world embraces HTML 5 and CSS 3, Microsoft has been throwing a tantrum and hoping everyone will go back to 1998 standards... "It ain't gonna happen."
Given that the view/download worked prior to installing the newest Reader, it's probably a matter of IE not working with the latest plugin. Since XP (which is just ten short months away from being "sunsetted" by Microsoft) won't work with IE9 or IE10, you're stuck with 8, and I'd recommend a "downgrade" to an older build, like 10 or even 9.
First, you'll want to run the Adobe Cleaner to remove all traces of Reader XI.
Then download the offline installer for 10 and reinstall.

  • How to include the option for people to download adobe reader in an email campaign?

We need to attach some terms & conditions as a PDF in our mails (sending to a few thousand people), but would like to include an option to download adobe reader to read the PDF if they haven't already got one.
Is this a simple 'link to download page' or is there a widget/code or something that already exists for this? Just to make it quick & simple for email readers
    Many thanks in advance!
