I just downloaded i0s7 and now itunes won't recognize my iphone

I finally dwnloaded the iOS7 update on my iphone 4 and i had to delete my music to download it, since it was 2.9 gbs. So after it was finished downloading, i wanted to put my music back on it, so i plug it into my computer and an error message comes up along with itunes and says "The Iphone 'BLAH' cannot be used because it requires itunes 11.1 or later. Go to itunes.com and download it." I knew I already had the latest version, i checked, but i downloaded it anyways and, guess what, it still didn't work. I'm confused so please help me out. Thanks.

think yourself lucky.  i also had the whole itunes needs updating guff, but i'm using a mac.  anyway iphone recognised starts to sync and fails to terminate........i unplug my phone and the whole music library is corrupted every single song has a red dot next to it, not sure what that means.
i'm now in the process of restoring back to factory settings.  would be nice if someone had tested this before throwing it over the fence to us users.  At least they are consistent, this happened exactly the same way when ios6 came out, so one just has to get used to it.

  • Just upgraded macbook to Snow Leopard, and now itunes won't recognize my iphone.  I tried turning all off, and on.  I have the newest version of itunes.  Will I have to reset my iphone (and also ipod touch?), and if so, does it mean I lose anything?

I just upgraded macbook to SnowLeopard 10.6.3 and now itunes won't recognize my iphone.  I tried turning everything off and restarting.  I have the latest version of itunes.  If I have to reset the phone (and ipod touch), what does that mean?  Will I lose anything? How long will it take?  thanks

Start iTunes.  Make sure you really are running the version you think you are.  Sometimes people end up with two copies, different versions.

You say you are running Snow Leopard 10.6.3.  That version will not run the latest iTunes which requires 10.6.8  If you need iTunes 10.7 you have to be running 10.6.8

Thanks for this mha007 - I can now open FF with a new profile. Can I copy my settings from the old profile or will this bring over the same problem, maybe a corrupt file. If it would bring the same problem, is there any way I can check which file is corrupt, apart from taking them over one by one?

  • I recently had to reinstall iTunes, and now it won't recognize my iphone so Im not able to sync my phone to iTunes.  How do I fix this?

I recently reinstalled iTunes, and now it won't recognize my iphone so I'm not able to sync the phone with iTunes.  How do I fix this?

It has been shown there are problems with the latest update of iTunes and Windows computers. What you need to do is remove and reinstall iTunes, and make sure that you follow the steps in this support document exactly. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923. If you do not follow them exactly, you will just compound your problems. Once you do this, you should have no trouble having the phone recognized in iTunes.

  • I changed the drive letter on my iPod and now iTunes won't recognize it!

Help please! I contacted an Apple associate and they told me to change the drive letter of my iPod in My Computer. I did that and now iTunes won't recognize my iPod at all and I can't change the drive letter back to the original one. What do I do?

Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.
Try closing and re-starting iTunes. There have been cases where iTunes refuses to see an iPod, but after re-starting, it works again.
Also try re-booting the entire computer. Especially if the PC has been operating for a long time &/or many programs have been opened and closed, repeatedly.
Other USB connected peripherals may be the cause as well. Try removing all connected USB items and attaching the iPod. If you have a USB keyboard, it may be worth a try using the adapter to convert it to non-USB. If the iPod connects, continue plugging things back in until you have the problem return. You may have then isolated the issue. Sometimes it could be a printer, camera, Flash Card reader, or other attached device causing a conflict.

I upgraded from leopard to snow leopard. now iTunes won't recognize my iphone, and the upgrading the software keeps crashing.. help!!

Mountain Lion is OS X 10.8
    10.6 was called Snow Leopard.
To use iTunes 10.7 the following is required:
    Macintosh System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor and 512MB of RAM
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
    Safari 4.0.3 or later
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
    Do you use iTunes Match?
That way all of your songs would be matched with the master song on the iTunes servers independently of iTunes on your Mac or PC...

  • Updated to itunes 10.6.3 and now it won't recognize my iphone or ipad

Itunes updated to 10.6.3 and now it will not recognize my iPhone or iPad.  I have tried uninstalling itunes and the amds following steps provided on the support site.  Still nothing.  My computer does show both as cameras though.  Any ideas?

There has to be a fix without doing that.
You're not using any sort of hub or extender are you? iTunes doesn't always like that.
    Tried different USB ports?
what operating system do you have?

  • I downloaded Mavericks, and now ITunes won't open

Although the iTunes icon is showing on the dock and in Launchpad and Finder, it won't open.

To confirm, you've downloaded and installed Mavericks, and not just downloaded Mavericks, right?
If you have installed Mavericks, have you tried updating to load the current iTunes 12 software, to see if that might resolve this?
I'd probably also try using Disk Utility.app (Applications > Utilities) to repair the disk permissions, and also to check the volume for errors, though it's not at all clear that would help here.
If all that fails, see if Console.app (Applications > Utilities) shows any messages relevant to iTunes, if you launch that and then try the (failing) iTunes launch.

  • I updated to ios6 and now iTunes won't recognize my iPod.  I have done all the roubleshooting suggested but still no go.

Ever since the ios6 update, my iPod is unresponsive and iTunes doesn't recognize the device.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and stillno change.  I have followed all the recommended steps from the apple support page.  Any suggestions?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
