I just downloaded ITunes onto a new PC. I am logged in to my pre-existing account but none of our music is shown. What do I need to do to see it and play it?
sorry about my sloppy typing, I corrected my errors, but don't know if they are seen.
You need to manually move it from the old computer or follow these instructions.

I just downloaded itunes onto my new laptop and I am trying to burn songs onto a cd that I had purchased previously and I am getting an error message that states I must authorize this computer. What does that mean?
If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

Just download itunes onto my new pc ?
Can I just download itunes onto my new pc and it will pick up all my music which has been transferred from my old (broken PC). I don't want itunes to delete all my old music.
Thanks roaminggnome,
The PC shop transferred all my data across so I assume all my itunes files are now on my new pc. My question was do I just install the itunes software from my original cd ? Will this then link to all my itunes tracks as I don't want to lose them.

How do I get my music from one authorized computer (pc) to my other authorized computer (laptop)
Copy it from the other computer or from your backup copy of your other computer.

Hi all,
I've just downloaded itunes onto a new computer, and I'm currently downloading previously owned music from the cloud. However, it keeps sticking on various songs - it will get part of the way through and just stop, this seems to happen to about 1 in 10 songs. How do I get round this?
Also, once I've finished dowloading from the cloud, how do I get my library to display only the songs I've downloaded, and not all the other ones that I don't want anymore?
Cheers, AlexOn the new laptop, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.

My hard disc on my laptop crashed and I have no back up other than the music on my ipod.
I have downloaded Itunes onto my new disc but I have read if I just connect my ipod it will wipe it rather than update my laptop ?
What can I do ?Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You have to transfer the music from your iPod to iTunes. There are some third-party applications that can do it > https://discussions.apple.com/message/11319208#11319208 -
I would like to download itunes onto my new computer but be able to open my existing itunes account where all of my my music/videos exist. I am getting rid of my old computer but still have it. Can I transfer my existing itunes account to my new computer...how? DOnt want to lose everything! Thanks
This info will only be where you put it.
You would have to copy from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer -
When downloading iTunes onto a new computer, is there any way to automatically important songs from your previous computer? I recently cracked the screen on my computer and cannot access any files. Last time I got a new computer my iTunes media files automatically appeared in my iTunes when I downloaded it, and I did not have to use my external drive. Is this still possible?
If your backup copy of the old computer was not stolen, then use it to put everything back.

I just dled Itunes onto my new laptop, when I synced with my music folder, all of the songs were duplicate on song list, what do I do? What did I do wrong, and where do I find a manual to learn how to use ITunes???
" When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs."
Correct.
" How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer? "
Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod. -
I just downloaded iTunes to a new computer. It's been a while since I used iTunes on my old computer, so the new one has a totally different user interface. I signed on to my account and saw my music but I have no playlists on the new computer. What's the easiest way to replicate or restore my playlists as I had them in the old computer and in my iPod?
OK, thanks for the response. I'm copying it onto a memory stick to transfer it to the new computer. Still have two questions:
1. Since there is already an iTunes folder on the new computer, created when iTunes was downloaded, where exactly do I copy the old folder onto the computer so that iTunes can find it? In the old interface, there used to be a field where one could designate the path to find music and I don't see that in the new interface.
Assuming the above takes care of putting my playlists onto the new computer...
2. How do I add music that is currently stored in a back up file but was not on my old computer's drive? I'm worried that I would have to add these one by one somehow, and there are a lot of songs.
Thanks again. -
I just downloaded iTunes on my new PC and all the music that I have purchased through ITunes that was backed up on the cloud won't play. It is telling me I must authorize this computer before it can play pre purchased music. how do I authorize my computer to play this music?
Thank you for any assistance.Tigon's already got you covered here. But I'll chime in with some English localisation advice.
There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them: -
I have another computer that a virus may have taken over and I cannot log into it anymore. I just downloaded Itunes on a new computer but most of my songs are not on there. Is there a way to still access or find those songs? Remotely or another way? Or do I need to take it to a tech to get my files off of my hard drive?
Edit > Preferences > Store check Music under Automatic Downloads.
Open the iTunes Store from left hand column, then select Purchasedfrom the column on the right, click the Not In My Library button and select the tunes you want to download again.
That said, you seem to be under a misapprehension as to how iTunes works, or at least how it has worked in the past. It has, until recently, been up to you take care of your purchases once they have been downloaded. You had a one-time download which you were reminded to back up. With the recent change to this policy you can at least download your store purchases again, but having a personal backup of your iTunes store purchases, stuff purchased elsewhere and files ripped from your CDs will still be preferable to gathering all the stuff together again in the event of a disaster.
For a backup strategy see this User Tip.

I have an Ipod that is about a year old which was connected to an old computer that has crashed. I just downloaded itunes on a new computer, hoping to download my music from my ipod, but it won't let me. Any ideas how to sync them?
Engadget has a guide for this.

My motherboard "fried" on my computer when the fan quit working. I cannot access my hard drive on my old computer. I just downloaded ITunes on my new computer; assumed it would pull all my playlists in under my Apple ID and password-no such luck. Help Please?
If your external drive does not have an independent power supply, you may wish to consider a couple of lower-cost options before tossing the drive. Bus-powered drives have no external power source and must get all their power from the computer. They can exceed the computer's USB energy budget.
Cheapest option:
1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
This gets power from two of the computers USB porst sna can provide enough power to wake up an under-performaing bus-powered drive.
If you don't have enough ports to use this, try the next cheapest option:
Newer Technology 7 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Hub with Power Adapter for Mac & PC
Such a hub has a an independent power supply to make up for wahat the comptuer fails to provide. -
