I just found my Creative Zen Touch but....

. Well as my title states, I just found my zen touch but it seems to have a fimrware problem.
Whenever i turn on the player it takes me to the Recovery Mode.
The options are
Creative Zen Touch v0.0.0
Clean Up
2 Format All
3 Reload Firmware
4 Reboot
I have tried going to Reboot, but it takes me to the same Recovery Menu.
What should I do?

I would recommend Cleanup-->Reboot as your first choice.
Cleanup is like ScanDisk on a computer. Basically, it scans your Zen's dri've and removes disk errors that can interfere with proper operation.
Next option would be Format-->Reboot. This is more drastic and you will lose all content on your Zen. Not such a problem if you've backed all your files up, but it will take some time to get your Zen organized like it was before.
Last resort is Reload Firmware. This is like reinstalling your computer's Operating System. It can be risky if your computer has trouble recognizing your Zen, as unless your Zen is recognized, you can't complete the Reload Firmware step and you can be left with an expensi've paperweight.

To my knowledge there is currently no software support for the Zen Touch for any Mac OS, including OS X. If you purchased your player recently it's likely to have the Plays for Sure firmware installed, which will only work with Microsoft Windows XP Home and Pro with Windows Media Player 0 or higher.
I looked for Mac supporting drivers at onetime across the internet, but the ones i found were incredibly buggy and of course were third-party and not from Creative. You can download drivers and applications for the player on this site, just click on Support -> Downloads.
You need to download a driver (install this first), the full MediaSource Player/Organizer application and then the MediaSource plug-in.

001 Creative Zen Touch 4

I just bought a creative Zen touch 40 GB , and i'm moving- using nomad explore -some mp3 files from my Win XP computer to the MP3 player. and in the middle it gives me an error that something wrong happened.
then i tried to unplug the usb cable and plug it again, this makes it work, but the problem is that this error happenes alot .
can any one help?

The 1G iPod can only go as high as 3.1.3. The 1G does not have an internal speaker or volume buttons on the upper left edge.

Basically you do the reverse of how you got it onto the player to begin with. You will open up mediasource, select the Zen Touch in the left hand source window, select PC Music Library on the right hand side. Select your songs and press the arrow pointing to the right.

Creative Zen Touch stuck in Recovery M

Bear with me please since my english is not the best, but I'll try to explain my problem as good as I can.
Both me and my girlfriend have Creative Zen Touch mp3-players, and yesterday we were gonna update the firmware on both of them. We went to the Creative support page download-section and downloaded the latest one. When we were gonan install it it gave us the message that all data would be removed and that was fine with us since we already had plans about removing most of the music and replace it with new tunes. But when we were installing the firware it statrted out just fine but then when it said "Player is being rebooted, please wait..." (or something like that) it just was like that for a long time. After 20 minutes my patience ran out and I unplugged my device and tried with my girldfriends instead. Same thing happened with hers so now both our players are stuck in recovery mode with no firmware what so ever in them. I tried installing the firmware once again on both of them but now it can't the firmware just says my device isn't plugged in even though it is and my computer finds it as soon as I plug it in.
I contacted support and they told me to uninstall everything that has to do with the player and also remove Windows Media Player and all of its components. The reinstall the drivers and restart my computer. Then I should wait until my device told me to updtae the firmware to press the language selection on the firmware update. I did all of this but the firmware upadate still says my player isn't connected. This happens with my girldfriends player too, so it can't be any defect on the device.
So right now we're sitting on two mp3 players that are useless since they are stuck in recovery mode with no firmware. Please help me if you can and please keep in mind to not use too difficult english words. Thanks in advance!
Worth mentioning is that I've tried both the old and new firmware updates just to get it going and no one worked.

Basically uninstall wmp, and it's run time and reboot
Be using XP
try to install creatives latest plays for sure software suite (it will fail)
Don't unplug the player just reboot
Player should be found, ignore all messages of any kind
Go to FW update and double click it
Hopefully breathe a happy sigh of relief.

Creative Zen Touch - Hard drive problems - HD upgr

Hi!
I bought my Creative Zen Touch almost a year ago now. Yesterday my hard dri've went crazy. The sound was a funky rythm, 0 DJ "scrathes" then one more high-pitched sound. In the Rescue menu I try to format the hard dri've and it responds with "Hard dri've problems."
Yes, it has fallen down several times. I don't know what caused it to malfunction this time though. It suddenly just stopped working. It looks like a mess, was bought over internet under the name of a mother of my frien; to make a long story short. I have no warranty :/
So here's what I decided; I opened it up to take a look inside it. Here's what I found:
- One loose battery, too much dirt on the sticky stuff.
- One hard dri've, model: HTC424020F7AT00
And here is my main questions:
- Can I use a 40gb Hitachi dri've in my 20GB Zen Touch? This is just the big brother, so the dri'ves are pretty much the same except storage space. http://tinyurl.com/4yurr

Thanks for your reply SSR. I'm a clueless as to what the controller is, but at least I've found out that the Creative Zen Touch 20GB uses a .8" harddri've. So the larger Fujitsu Siemens 2.5" dri'ves, which the Creative Nomad Zen Players use, aren't compatible.

Hi, I just ordered my new Zen Touch 20gb online last night with a set of Sony earbuds (MDR-EX5LP). I'm pretty excited, get it this Friday.
I just had a few questions in advance:
A) Which programs are best for ripping, allow you to adjust the quality of the songs, and won't cause problems when burnt cds are ripped (saw a thread earlier that complained of bad quality when burnt cds were ripped to MP3 that worried me)?
B) What different types of cables/accessories would you recommend for wiring the Creative up to a stereo? On CNet.com and various other sites, they talk about how the Creative sounds great through speakers, and I'm really excited to hook that up, but I don't know A) Which cable to buy that will work well with the Creative/have good sound quality, B) Where to plug it in - headphone jack? (no analog Line Out, right?)
C) Has anyone had any experience with the remote? Is it pretty durable? I'm not going to plop down 50 plus shipping and handling, wait 2-3 weeks for the backorder, only to have it fall to bits in a few weeks.

I have used WMP0 exclusi'vely for ripping CDs. I rip WMAs at 28kbps, though you may want to go up to 92kbps if you can hear the difference (some people recommed ripping a song at both and deciding which is best). I sync all my CDs with WMP0 too, and have had no issues. One thing to caution you is to make sure your ID3 tags are correct before you sync up. What I mean by this is to make sure the album name, track titles, and artist names are to your liking. 90% it is not an issue, but sometimes, the titles have extra characters you may not wish to have. If you have more than one artist listed on a track, only the first one is loaded. So if you have, say: "EmmyLou Harris; Buddy Miller", the track is stored under artist Emmylou Harris only.</LI>

My old computer running XP recently gave up on me and I now have a new computer using Vista.
I have lost the cd I got with my Zen Touch as it was over 5 years ago now but it still works perfectly!
I want to set up Creative Media Player on Vista so I can start transferring music again but I have heard that if I download the firmwear I will lose all the songs that are currently stored. I really don't want this to happen as most of my music was contained on my old PC and it will be very hard to locate it all again so if there was a way I could just set up Creative Media Player the same way I had it before, without losing all my current music, that would be great!
Any help much appreciated.

If you have both the player and you're using MediaSource, just connect both the player to the computer, select one of the player as source and the other as destination and just transfer over it. Note, protected content will not be transfer over though.

Creative zen touch & windows vista 32 bit

Can anyone tell me which Firmware or software I need to install so that I can get my mp3 player working again. Have Windows Vista 32 bit, and Creative Zen Touch with about 5 gigs worth of music on, which is now stuck on it. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a zen neeon. Tried running the program, all the set up prompts seem to work, but the program is nowhere to be found after "installation".
I don't want to have to buy another player, seeing this one has 200 songs in it. (which is nothing compared to your 5 gigs!Would be a real pain in the ar$e.

The video cable was being discussed on another thread, and it wasn't clear whether 3rd party cables work or not.
There's no need to buy a travel adapter. Just buy a plug adapter for the current adapter.
Screen protectors for the iPod apparently fit pretty well. They might need some trimming, or you can just buy another oversized screen protector e.g. for a PDA, and cut to size.
There have been MANY headphone recommendation threads, like this one. Try searching back. I personally recommend Sony's EX5/7 canalphones, as well as the Sharp HP-MD33S canalphones (Creative have rebadged these and sell that as the EP-630s). They might be a little above your budget, but are both great canalphones.

Need Help With My 40G Creative Zen Touch Mp3 Play

Got this beautiful mp3 player for a steal at only $95 dlvd!
Works great, only problem is I just installed the software and when I run the Organizer thing, it doesnt detect any mp3s. So when I go into my folders containing mp3's they dont show up. I tried to associate formats using the File Options in the settings menu but there are no file types listed to associate! Im confused at what to do.
Also when the program software was installing I kept getting error messages relating to the registration of certain parts of the program, it still installed complete but gave me a error message to report to Creative. Everything works fine so far though?
Can anyone help me out here or recognize the problem?

Hi thanks for the help, Im not sure if my ins the Plays for sure model or not? Its the Creative Zen Touch 40 GB. I bought it without a manual so im not positi've how to check the details. It came with a software installation CD, that is what I used for the software. So does this mean I just need to download the plugins you listed? Is that what is affecting the Organizer in the fact that it doesnt display mp3s?
