I just got a new computer, and now my ipod will not sync to my new one, even though i "deauthorized" my old one? help please?

As the title says really. I deauthorized my old computer and therefore i thought that would mean i could sync my ipod, when i authorized my new one but it won't sync to my library on this laptop. why?

Before you start, remember that connecting to a new iTunes library will erase your device during the first sync.
Here's how to save your data and settings: How to back up your data and set up as a new device
After that you can connect it and set it up again. If it is not recognized in iTunes, follow this article: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

i have moved mu itunes to a new computer and my ipod will not sync with new music.

If you are using automatic syncing, you may need to set up the iPod's Music tab in iTunes.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of "tabs" (starting with Summary).  Select Music there.  This is the Music tab, where you tell iTunes how to sync the iPod with songs.  Sync Music is checkmarked for automatic syncing.
If your entire iTunes music library can fit on the nano, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, create your selection of songs below.  For example, if you want to keep it simple, create a new playlist in iTunes.  Put ALL songs you want on the iPod on that playlist, including songs from the newly added music.  Back on the Music tab, find and checkmark that new playlist under Playlists.
When you click Apply, your selection of songs on the Music tab syncs to the iPod, replacing its current content.  Going forward, any changes that are related to the Music tab settings sync automatically when you connect the iPod, or when you click Sync.  So, if there is a playlist with your "iPod songs," you can just update that playlist (add and remove songs) whenever you want; iTunes updates the iPod with the same changes at the next opportunity.

    Hi atollmedic,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue with your iPod being recognized since updating iTunes. The article linked below provides suggestions that will resolve most issues like the one you described.

  • I just recently added itunes to another pc and now my ipad will not sync on the new pc. It isnt even recognized. What should I do? HELP!!!

I just recently downloaded the newest iTunes and moved all my purchased and already owned music to another PC. Every since I did that I cannot get my iPad 1 to even be recognized in iTunes. I have Authorized the PC in iTunes, but my iPad still will not allow me to sync. I'm at a loss...PLEASE HELP!!!

    1.  You need to authorize iTunes on the new computer with your Apple ID.
    2.  Make sure you turn off auto sync in iTunes
    3.  Connect your iPad to iTunes via USB and when it is recognized, right click on the device from the Device list on the left of your iTunes page and choose transfer purchases.
    4.  Once purchases are transfered and you have authorized the iTunes account, you should be able to sync.

  • I wiped my computer and now my iphone will not sync

Last week I wiped my windows in order to speed it up. I then reinstalled windows and all the programs I originally had
As well as reinstalling iTunes, I restored my iPhone to it's factory settings. Now when I try to sync it, it will now work.
Whilst syncing it says step 1 out of 3 instead of 1 out of 6 that is usually does.

Hopefully you didn't erase content and settings on the phone, because then you would have no content on either phone or computer.  Not advisable to do both this to both computer and phone at the same time!  I suspect the reason that only 3 things are syncing instead of 6, is that you know longer have any settings backed up to be synced.

  • HT1364 I got a new computer and my IPOD will not sync with the new computer?  what am I doing wrong....thanks

I got a new computer and my IPOD will not sync with the new computer.....I have a ITUNES account on the new computer and is downloading music just fine but it will not sync to the IPOD....What should I do to sync my IPOD?  thanks

Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.
Attempts to sync an iDevice to a new computer will remove all content from the device and replace it with content from the new, empty library.

You can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. To switch:

  • I have a new computer and the itunes store will not allow me to use the remaining balance on my gift card.

i have a new computer and the itunes store will not allow me to redeem my remaining balance.  How to handle.

Details, please. What exactly is happening? How is it "not allowing you" to redeem your balance?

  • I lost all the songs on my itunes and now my phone will not sync with out loosing all my music

my computer hard drive crashed and i had to re download itunes and now my phone will not sync without erasing all my music

That is correct.  The iphone will sync with one and only one computer/library at a time.  If you sync to another then it will indeed erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer/library.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use this to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from the iphone.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
You will also need to enter one unique contact and calendar entry in the computer .  When you first sync, you should get the option to merge.  Otherwise this data will be erased as well.
Much easier to use your backup copy to put everything back.

  • HT1369 Brand new computer with Windows 8.1 will not sync with iPod Classic 120G.  Windows does not recognize anything but iPod Touch?  Is there a simple sloution?

Brand new computer with Windows 8.1 will not sync to iPod Classic 120G.  Windows does not recognize anything but iPod Touch?  Is there a simple solution.  Diagnostics have run and failed to point to a fix.

Might be worth tearing down the whole iTunes install and starting over...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.
