When trying to logout, I keep getting "the application safari canceled logout" even though I am not in Safari. This only recently started happening and I'm wondering if it is a setting issue or bug. Can someone tell me what to do?
You don't have to be "in" Safari for it to cancel logout.
You have several different Applications open, and any one of them may cancel logout if conditions are just right.
Quit the Applications you are no longer using and your Mac will run better and faster. And it will logout instead of cancelling. -
Need help with this as it's starting to get annoying.

Please can someone tell me how I can change this so when I send a mail from my phone and from the IPad that it reads from me.
You need a separate email address but you've already ruled out that solution. -

I am noticing Itunes application detector in Mozilla? Can anyone tell me what it is for?
Lately I have experienced problems with re-directing and other issues with Mozilla. I looked in my add-ons list and there are several things there that i did not add manually.
(I have been having much trouble with ITunes and noticed a plug in in mozilla and want to know if it is necessary.)
Is there a way to keep this from happening? I have been using mozilla for years and liked it when I could do a basic install without any add-ons that I did not request.
Here is a list of the things that are troubling me - I am sure a few may be necessary.
I would appreciate any help anyone can give me with this?

(Just curious with these two Java consoles - which by the way I am unable to uninstall - the uninstall button is grayed out. and I can only disable.)Shutting down only returns a Mac to a certain default running state.
If the beach balling problem is there, it can and, most probably, will return.
Sometimes a shut down or restart can reset things, but if this was something that was nagging issue, it may return.
It's better for a Mac to sleep or hibernate than to constantly shut it down.
Shutting down and starting up a computer all the time puts more strain on electronic components than just letting the computer sleep and go into a reduced power mode.
Sometimes Safari ( or any web browser) can be the culprit as Adobe Flash Player, running inside Safari, can eat up a lot of CPU and RAM resources when on a website that needs extensive use of Adobe Flash Player. Also, animations and pop- up ads in a web browser can have the web browser using up more CPU and RAM cycles, too! Other web browser factors like having a lot of windows or tabs active can increase the amount of RAM that the web browser is using.
Also, it a good idea not to have too many CPU and RAM intensive apps running concurrently in the background.
Also, some unknown process can eat up system resources.
From time to time if the beach balling returns, launch Activity Monitor app inside your Applications>Utilities folder a see if there are any processes that are eating up an excessive amount of RAM or CPU cycles.
Any antivirus apps are known causes of OS X slowdowns and beach balling as well as a lot of " crapware" like MacKeeper. Keep software like that off of your system. -
Another thing is that I can't get into my iPhone, as in I can only get to the shiny Apple screen and nothing else.

HELP! - New mouse that works with Mac
Hi guys and girls
I hoped that there was someone out there, who could help me! I've just ordered my first Mac ever - long time fan thou', but i work alot in front of a screen, so comfort is everything to me when choosing a mouse!
The problem:
The problem is that design and sleekness also is important to me, i don't want a mouse, where i have to have some ugly as hell usb-receiver sticking out of the side of my laptop, so i want a mouse that can work with the build-in wi-fi in the macbooks. But its hard to figur out, when all mice comes with a usb-reciver, but not all of them needs it.
The bottom line:
So can someone tell me what mouse to buy, if i want a good mouse:
+ where the comfort is top-noch
+ and where i dont need to plug in the usb-receiver
How about these two - do they fit my needs?
1) Logitech MX1000 Wireless Laser Mouse
2) Logitech Performance Mouse MX™
I hope that someone can help me out!
All the best
/AndersI don't know anyone selling new cards for this system, here's some on eBay.

I just had a new hard drive installed at the Apple Store. When I looked at it, the hard drive was named snow08
Is that odd? Do I have someone else's hard drive?I think apple named your drive snow08. I really don't think they would replace your drive without the new one completly erased, that would be pretty sloppy of them. I guess they could have, i just do not think they would have!

I have been using apple tv for 2+ years and i just purchased several new shows that began in Sept 2013. In the past, episodes I have not yet watched were marked with a green dot, but now that dot is not there.
Wow, Karan Taneja, you've just embarrassed yourself on a worldwide support forum. Not only is your post ridiculous and completely inappropriate for a technical support forum, but it also shows your ignorance as to whom you think the audience is. Apple is not here. It's users, like you.
If you would have spent half the time actually reading the Terms of Use of this forum that YOU agreed to by signing up to post, as you did composing that usesless, inappropriate post, you (and the rest of us on this forum) would have been much better off. -
HD Crashed - Just had a new one put in - How to get preferences from backup
Hello, My Imac 24" intel's hard drive crashed a few days ago. I just had a new HD put in and I have my old files on a backup drive - time machine was backing up my files and libraries, but not my apps.
When the tech guys restored from the external backup, it made a separate folder called Macintosh HD and in there - inside the users folder - were all of my files. I have moved them from there over to the new HD, but I am not sure if I can move the libraries? I would at least like to get the info for my mail so that I don't have to set up my email accounts over again. Is this OK to do? Also what about my fonts? Can I move that over? Any advice on what is safe to move and what shouldn't be moved would be very much appreciated. If you are talking about moving your application support files and preference files that are in the home/library folders that won't be a problem. I did it recently for the same reason. I would not move system library files but user library files will move without problems. I did not move the whole folder but I moved the files in the folder that I needed. I moved Mail,Safari, all the files for iPhoto and iTunes, my music libraries, and some others. The only issue I had with it was that for some reason I lost my playlists on iTunes, not the music library, just the playlists. I only had about 12 of them so it was no big deal but if you have a lot, that may be an issue. I don't know what I didn't move that caused that to happen.
If you are going to do backups in the future, using Time Machine is great. I use it. However I go one step further an use a program called Super Duper and actually clone my entire drive onto an external drive, then do incremental backups with it. That way, I have a complete clone of my drive and if something happens, I can get back to work quickly. I don't know if Carbon Copy Cloner, which is a very good program also, supports incremental backups or not but if it does than either one will work. -
My wife has just had a new iPad and while the Wifi works fine at home, at work she is unable to connect after entering the correct password etc. The 'waiting wheel' simply spins next to the network attempting to connect. The iPad version is 5.1.1 and not the IOS 6 which seems to be problematic on the Wifi front. To add to the mystery my own iPad connects fine to my wife's place of work. Is it possible to take the manual settings from mine and connect that way? Or any other suggestions?
When your device is trying to connect to the work Wi-Fi network, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > then tap on the name of the Netowrk that she is having trouble with. Then tap on forget this network. Let the device attempt to connect again and make absolutely sure she is trying to connect to the work network and not a nearby network, then make absolutely sure the password is entered correctly.

My Macbook pro has just had a new 500gb hard drive in it and osx snow leopard had not been put on it because i never got a disk when i bought it. It still comes up with the grey screen with the flashing folder which i think would be normal because there is nothing on the hard drive. How do i install OSX Snow Leopard back on it the cheapest way possible?
ThanksYou might be in a bind. While is is normal for new Macs that shipped with Lion to omit a system installation DVD, yours was running Snow Leopard. Apple included a system installation CD or DVD for every computer that shipped with every computer through Snow Leopard. Lion was installed on every machine built starting about August 2011, ending the DVD era.
Apparently your computer had been sitting in someone's inventory for a while, but that's no excuse for them to have removed the DVD from its box.
Try booting Lion Internet Recovery. Read this:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
I suspect Lion Recovery may not work since "your computer's eligibility for Lion will be verified with Apple" and you appear not to have purchased it.
Please let me know what happens when you attempt to boot Lion Recovery.
