I just inherited an iphone 3gs from my dad. I want to get my music off my ipod and onto my iphone, but now that it is synced with the iphone itunes wants to strip all the info off my ipod. Is there a way to get my music that is on my ipod onto itunes?
If I try to sync my iPod with iTunes on my laptop, it won't let me - it says it is going to remove all the music on my ipod first!!! I just want it moved from my iPod to my (new to me) iPhone!

Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time. If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else, authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account. In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc. For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases. For all other nonpurchased iTunes content, see this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Once the backup has been made and all other synced content such as music, videos, and photos are back in your iTunes library, restore your iPod from that backup you made earlier. Here is more on backing up and restoring your iPod.

since the upgrade to ios7.1.1 I have lost my ringtones. Is there a way of getting them back from my itunes accout since I've already paid for it?
Yes, go to your 'iTunes Store' app on your iPhone or whatever device you lost them on, then go to the 'more' tab, and choose 'purchased', then find your ringtones that you wanted and redownload them, you won't need to repay for them.

iTunes on my Windows 8 computer updated on January 22, 2014. Since that time it will not recognize or sync with my iPhone 4s. I have removed and the downloaded my iTunes and the problem persists.
Help!I followed the thread and used the link provided to download iTunes version 10.6.3 (again). The same error message keeps coming up, telling me that I do not have it installed. I tried restarting the computer following the install, but it still won´t acknowledge that 10.6.3 is installed. Any other solutions?

Did you backup your iPhone to iTunes?
You can restore your iPhone from a backup.
If there are multiple backup devices, look for your backup and restore yoyr iPhone from that backup. -

That's part of the process - the upgrade removes all the apps and then (as part of the syncing) restores them all - however, it's not clear that it's doing that. Connect your iPad to iTunes again and sync it - the apps should come back. If not, then the upgrade created a back-up of your device before installing - you can restore your iPad to that back-up when connected to iTunes.

I downloaded os6, and all of my apps disappeared. Is there a way to get them back?
I downloaded os6 and when it was finished, any apps that I had downloaded were gone. I went to the appstore to re-download them but found that I only have the opton to "open" them. So basically if I want to use any apps I have to go into passbook, then the app store, then find it on the list of downloaded apps, THEN I can use it. It's really inconvenient compared to being able to just press a button on my main screen as before. Is there a way I can get them all back or am I stuck using them like this? I definitely would never have downloaded os6 if I knew it was going to be so stupid.

The videos are gone, unless a restore from backup can retrieve them. -
My computer has worked well since I bought it new. All of a sudden it will not recognize my i-phone to snyc. I receive an error message saying that -42404 is missing from i tunes and it then crashes....help please

It's also possible that newer iPhone updates want an OS higher than Tiger. Post the specs of your computer and we can see if an OS upgrade is possible. There are a large number of G4 variants with different capabilities, so giving us something more than just "G4" will get you help faster. -
I have moved my music to my new mac air but now it won't sync with my ipod or my iphone 4s
I have transferred mymusic to my new mac air from an acer laptop via an external hard drive and it's all there on the mac but now itunes won't sync with my ipod touch or my iphone 4s.
With the ipod it says 'iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to the device " It also doesn't show up at all in the devices section.
With the iphone it says there isn't enough space to sync even though I have experimented and unticked various things including photos which takes up a lot of space. It seems like it wants to sync with the empty space on the iphone (very small!) and not with the whole thing. An Apple emplyee in a Seattle store backed up my phone data before clearing it and reloading the software. He was trying to resolve a problem that I was having with the phone. When I checked my photos I discovered that they were all gone. Also lost a lot of new contacts. It appears that only older data was restored. Is there a way to find out if my photos are backed up any were? As a note, I have had this problemsince I got the phone. I bought it at Best Buy but they said that they could not fix the problem. They told me to talk to the phone company. AT&T looked at the phone and said that it was an Apple problem. There is no Apple store where I live in southern Oregon so I had to wait until I got to Seattle to try and get it fixed. Apparently on one owns the problem. Its my problem to fix. The next step is to get another phone. Probably not from Apple. That is my story and sany info would be appreciated. Cathy
Thanks for the reply however this does not help. When I check the cloud it shows that I have only 20 photos. In reality I had a lot more than that. All the photos on the cloud are those that I have taken since I was at the Apple store. When I check cloud storage usage on my phone it says that I have 5.1 GB of photos. This is a lot more than the 20 that I can see. I am not sure what the Apple employee did to my phone.
Still looking for answers. It is really too bad that I can not talk to an Apple person to get help since they messed up my phone. -

Buuuttttt when I go to my iPhone which I purchased last year in 2012 I started it up with a computer I no longer have.
When I go to setting and then go to "iTunes Wi-Fi Sync"
I get the following message: Sync will resume when -----Pc is available. well this computer is no longer available. And the area on the iphone showing up is in grey so it won't allow me to syn via wi-fi

Recently I updated iTunes on my PC and now the "Summary" for syncing my iPhone with iTunes no longer appears near the top of my iTunes window. "Summary" lists items I can sync such as "Music, Photos, Apps", etc with drop-down boxes I can use to manage how I sync those items. An icon for my iPhone does appear near the top right corner of the iTunes window; however, when I click on the icon, the sync automatically begins and there is no display of what is syncing or how much space has been used or how much space is left for syncing music, photos, apps, etc. The new iTunes window no longer lists "Devices" on the left-hand side of the window. Has anyone had the same issue?
In iTunes go to View>Show Sidebar.
