What SAP Business Objects Web Services to use with XI3.0
I'm new to BO and is tasked to install it.
What I've installed already is the BOE XI3.0 version and now want to install Xcelsius 2008 Enterprise.
What I can not figure out from the Xcelsius manual or SDN or OSS is what the Business Objects Web Services are the manual instructs you to install with Xcelsius.
I did find something called
BusinessObjects Web Services XI for Windows and downloaded it but is not sure if this is what I need to install as the business Object Web Services on XI 3.0
Can someone please direct me in the correct direction

i am not sure if i understand your question. If you mean Query as a Webservice (QaaWS), this component should be part of your XI 3.0 Enterprise installation. You could also use the flynet (www.flynet.co.uk) which is part of Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 SP1.

I'm attempting to connect to a website I've being using for 5 years plus. Now Firefox reports that the certificate is improper, and the message, " Web service is turned off. An administrator can turn it on using the Server application.", is given.
I don't know what to do with this information. Web service is on for other websites. What is the "server application?" How can I take control and connect? I am the administrator.I cannot replicate on another browser. In fact, I now cannot replicate on my Firefox browser. I can only assume that the certificate problem was taken care of by the website involved. But in case this problem returns, I wonder what server application I am to use in order to turn my (?) web service on?
Cryptic, unexplained error messages are a pet peeve of mine. It seems that Microsoft does not have a lock on such frustrating messages. -

We could create a proxy in vb.net and call our SAP web services like this:

We no longer get the same input and ouput classes generated for us when consuming the service. It looks like it is now expected to be called like a function ws.ZGetuname( param 1, param 2).
We would like to be able to generate the proxy the same way as before. Any ideas?

You mean, the filename with the number on the card?
Photos does not use the filenames as a title, when displaying the thumbnails. The filename will only show in the Info panel.
Copy the filenames to the title field in the Info panel and then enable "Metadata" in the View menu.
I wrote a script to copy the filenames automatically to the title field, see:

Just updated to new version of pages. Now can not open stored documents created under al pages. Get message "the application pages can' be opened -1712" hat do I do?
Apple released Pages 5.0 to run on Maverics only. They completely rewrote the program for Maverics and 64 bit compatibility. They failed to explain that this version is missing much of the previous version's capability and that it cannot read older Pages files. When they install it they leave the older Pages 4.3 in place because it is the only way to read the older Pages files and upgrade them to a level that can be read by Pages 5!
If you still have Pages 4.3 on your computer it will tell you what to do. If you do not then go into your backups and retrieve it.
Because of the deficiences of Pages 5 I have removed it from my Mac and gone back to working with Pages 4.3. I have also removed Pages 2 from my iPad and found Pages 1.7 in the Time Machinew backups and brought it forward and droped it onto the iTunes icon to restore it and then synced the iPad to get the Pages 1.7 running again - it is compatible with Pages 4.3 on the Mac so all is back to normal for me.
Apple say that they will fix many of the deficiences in Pages 5 in the next six months. I suggest you wait until then and keep an eye on these communities beforte considering the "upgrade".
Incedentaly Pages 5.0 writes files that cannot be read by anything else including Pages 4.3 - better hope no one sends you one! It does not save RTF either - what where they thinking! -

Same issue. I changed the WebDev toolbar's shortcut but muscle memory kept pulling up the manager.
Ended up installing an [http://techblog.willshouse.com/2009/08/15/change-firefox-keyboard-shortcuts-add-on-extension/ add-on] that allowed me to change/disable the manager keyboard shortcut.
Now all is well. -
Can a Mozilla Marketplace app target just Firefox OS devices due to use of background service page
I'm writing a Firefox OS app that makes use of the background_page (background service) part of the app manifest and integral to the app working. So this won't work on a Firefox Mobile or Desktop version. Is there a way to submit an app that just gets targeted to devices that support background services?
I am aware that in the market place submission I can choose from:
* Desktop
* Mobile
* Tablet
But that means version of firefox and not if it is Firefox OS or any indication of support for background services. -

Jwsdp-1_0_01 and wsdeploy Tool

I am using "jwsdp-1_0_01" software for developing/deploying web serivces, i just installed the software and run the demo Helloworld example it runes fine. but when i developed new Web Service and try to deploy the service using that "wsdeploy" tool (i am using ant build files for that which were bundeled with the demo application) i got a error mesage (see below).
error: modeler error: uniqueness constraint violation.
I don't know from where comes that error message but what i know is that, it could be because of any wrong mapping in one of manny ".xml" file. where ..? i have't any clue. If some one have any idea please do response.
P.S - the same web service is running fine with previous version of Web service development kit, but at that time i used xrpcc tool for making server side code.Hi,

recquires you to to rebuild your jaxrpc end points and
deploy the endpoints freshly on the new jwsdp1_0_01

This setup produces an EAR containing a message driven bean in a jar file. When the MDB receives a message
it checks to see if there is any data in a database table and if so calls the web service with that data. These instructions

So the idea is this, you run the /project/build.bat file from within the /project directory. This
calls ant which uses the build.xml file to create everything and copy the EAR to the weblogic deployment
directory. The default ant target is buildall.
The cmdline_wscompile target runs the /project/wssource/create.bat file which in turn runs the wscompile.bat
file from the jwsdp. This causes the dataexchange.wsdl file to processed and the client files to be generated.
The generated java files go into the /project/wssource directory. The generated class files go into the
/project/ejbbuild directory. They need to be there so the MDB can use them.
Next the compileejb ant target compiles the MDB java file and places the resulting class file into the
/project/ejbbuild directory.
Next the buildejbjar ant target takes everything in the /project/ejbbuild directory and creates the ejb jar
file that will be included in the EAR. This file is placed in the /project/earbuild directory.
Finally the buildear ant target takes everything in the /project/ejbbuild directory and produces the EAR
file for deployment. The EAR file is placed in the /project directory.
The deploy task simply copies the EAR file into the weblogic domain applications directory.It's really the web service that determines what kind of authentication is required. You can't just use any old strategy. If the web service isn't expecting it in that form, it won't work. Typically, either HTTP BASIC Auth or WS-Security is used. You'd have to contact the people responsible for the web service to know what kind of auth it requires.

we have tens of web services that we want to deploy them inside one instance of Oracle AS, now we need to have some transaction support in several levels :
- When we insert data into database in a single web services.
- When we have JMS interaction in a single web service.
- When we have JMS + Database interaction in a single web service.
- When a taransaction start from one web service and it must propagate inside second web service and second web service will decide whether it should be commited or not.
What does Oracle AS provides in this area?
If there is no support for this kind of scenario in Oracle AS, then what we should do?

1) if you are using Oracle Database 10g JDBC, it can pool connections for you, transparently -- if you are using Oracle AS or Oracle9iAS, you can just use JPublisher to generate the wrapper and deploy it.
2) SSB is too heavy for just placing a JDBC call.
3) a Servlet is lighter-weight that a SSB however, the Web services framework itself uses a Servlet to marchall / unmarshall SOAP messages -- unless your middle-tier requires a J2EE programming model (such as Servle or EJB) to pool JDBC connections
4)For calling-in database operations as web services, our implementation requires the Oracle AS (or Oracle9iAS) OC4J middle-tier (see #1) however, you can invoke external Web services from within the database.

Web Service model creation : no error, but no model created
Hi all,
I would like to create a Web Service service model : Models-> Create Model -> Import Web Service model -> Local File System or URL
I am using a local WSDL file. My NWDS version is 7.0.6.
Everything seems to be OK, I don't get any error, but unfortunaltely no model is created, although I see that some files are generated in the 'proxies' folders.
Here is the WSDL file I want to import. Does something look wrong to you ?

Query as a Web Service (QaaWS) is a SAP Business Objects (BOBJ) client-side tool that allows users to create and publish Web Services that can be made available over the Web. Once these web services are created and published, they can be consumed like any other standard Web Service in software applications including Xcelsius and Crystal Reports. But first we have to understand what exactly is a Web Service.
Web Service
A Web Service is a software system that supports interoperable interaction over a network from one computer or machine to another but is more commonly defined as a client and a server communicating data over the Web using the HTTP Protocol. Using Web Services along with Business Objects allows a live connection of data to be used in applications such as Xcelsius and Crystal Reports through a semantic layer called a Universe.
Query as a Web Service (QaaWS)
The two main components in QaaWS are the Client Tool and the Server. The QaaWS Client Tool gives the end user an easy to use wizard that allows them to create Universe queries and publish them as Web Services. Once the QaaWS is published, any user can securely access the data that the Web Service contains as long as they have access to that server. Update function in logical data source does not get called.
