I just install LRCC completed but can't open for use.

We have several PC's in the union office. As a test I got on the one Mac (in fact I'm on it now). Disconnected the network cable and got to this page via the wireless connection.
I am the computer guru for the union (but there is a network guy). This computer is connected to the same network, same password, nothing special.
I added the iPhone MAC address to the router just this morning. I got on the first web page I went to but that was all it did all day.
Rebooted the router twice and unplugged and reset once.

first things first — buy an external drive to use as a Time Machine backup destination and make a back up. That way, you won’t lose anything which is currently on your MacBook Pro.

Depends on what you're doing; SL doesn't really support Office docs directly. In Snow Leopard, TextEdit can open Word docs, albeit with little fidelity for anything beyond text. Try iWork if you need to really work with Word docs (note that even then it's an import/export process and not native support).

Yosemite install, all folders missing with just folder names show, but can't open.

I've just done a clean install for a relative to Yosemite. It all went well, but I'v noticed all folders on all hard drives are missing. Just the title of the folder is
showing, but I can't open them where the folder icon would be.

Do you have a backup you could restore the older version from?
Do a backup, preferably 2 separate ones on 2 separate drives.
Revert to a Previous OS X - Yosemite
Revert Yosemite to Mavericks
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.

JDK 5: install not complete, but can not uninstall

I tried to install JDK 1.5 on my Windows xp computer. I choosed to install everything. When the installer prompted for install jre, I changed my mind. I do not need separated jre. So I clicked exit button. Now I want reinstall JDK 1.5. The installer tells me that the software is already installed and asks me to uninstall. I go to control panel > Add or remove programs. JDK 1.5 is not there. I deleted new created jdk 1.5 directory, the installer still asks me to uninstall first. I checked jdk 1.5 directories, there is no uninstall program.
How to remove jdk 1.5 and reinstall?
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Are you comfortable with editing the Registry? If so, navigate to the key\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\JavaSoft\Java Development KitThere should be an entry labelled "CurrentVersion" with the value "1.5". Delete that, or change it to "1.4" if you have that version installed. Underneath that key, there should be two keys labelled "1.5" and "1.5.0" - delete both of them.
I'm not positive that those Registry entries are what's stopping you from re-installing, but if the original installation failed, they shouldn't be there anyway.

Just installed airport card but can't get a solid signal

a few weeks ago an electrical storm blew out my ehternet port. i consulted a mac genius at the apple store and decided to avoid replacing my logic board by getting an airport card and wireless router. After installing this business last night i was delighted to see full bars on the signal icon. but then it instantly dropped to two bars. then none. then a few minutes later back to two, full, none, etc. My computer and the wireless router are pretty much right next to eachother- i'm not splitting the cable between my machine and anything else (no other computers, not the tv). can anyone suggest what might be causing the signal problem? there's a major heatwave, would that cause problems? also, should i have looked into getting an aditional ethernet card instead? i'm desparately trying to avoid taking my machine out of my house (it's a desktop and i live in Queens so it's a b-tch to take into the city) so i'm really hoping to make this wireless buisness work. thanks so much!

One (or more) of the following must be true:
The antenna wire isn't properly attached to the AirPort card. Is this the original AirPort card or the AirPort Extreme card? If it is the AirPort Extreme card, use the photos in KB 108039, Properly attaching the antenna on an AirPort Extreme Card to verify that the antenna wire is properly installed.
You are experiencing some sever RF interference. See KB 58543, AirPort: Potential sources of interference.

I have osx 10.4.8, and everything seemed to be fine when installing FCP 5.1 I am only installing that and not the entire studio as that is all I want. Anyway all seemed to install fine, and have tried to reinstall several times, but everytime I try to open FCP, it quits unexpectantly and offers to send a report. Was upgrading from FCP HD, but I can;t remember what number, as it has dissappeared, and I am now without FCP completely. can copy and paste the error report if that would help?

Installed PSE 8 but can't open catalog :-(

I've installed PSE 8, upgrading from PSE 6. When I open the catalog it tells me that there is an earlier version catalog and would I like to make it compatible with PSE 8, to which I answer yes, I gave it a new name and clicked ok. It thinks for a long time and then I get a "not responding" message. I can't get into the organizer to do the recommendation in the book to convert the catalog. Any help greatly appreciated!

Yes, it seems like a problem with the main catalog. I haven't seen a failed conversion before that didn't write a conversion log. So there aren't many clues to go on. I have just one more suggestion -- run the utility psedbtool on your PSE 6 catalog:

Because you have both PSE 6 and 8 installed, you'll have to run it specially:
1. Start PSE 6 and do Help > System Info to find the folder path of your PSE 6 catalog folder.
2. Start a command prompt.
3. Type these two commands:
cd c:\psedbtool
.\psedbtool -printVolumeTable > output.log
4. Copy and paste the contents of c:\psedbtool\output.log here.

So no, you're incorrect. If you want to make it even easier, you can double click the file...since it came from the Internet zone, it'll be marked as blocked bringing up a warning dialog. Below the run button is the notification about the digital signature.
This is really no different than downloading an application bundle from the Internet. Do you really know what is in that bundle, or do you just trust it because it came from the sources' site? To add to that, do you really know that it hasn't been tampered with on the sources site? For example, the offical sendmail site was compromised and a trojaned installation of sendmail was placed there for download a couple of years ago.
Without digital signatures, you don't know where it really came from. MD5 hashes aren't reliable if the site was compromised.
Beyond that, even with these protections in place, you don't know what is in the code...:)

I have installed Windows 8 on my mid-2009 13" Macbook Pro, with mountain Lion on the other partition. Now when I shut down/restart, it only opens in Windows 8! I've held down "X" on the start-up and that doesnt work.

you have to hold down the option key
another option is to use the bootcamp tools that you installed along with the apple drivers disc you made in osx bootcamp program
this bootcamp utils in windows will let you choose if you want it to boot up default in windows or osx
you have a tool like it in osx so you can switch between them without using the option key at startup at all

When you say you can't load does that mean Captivate does not launch?
Try launching the application as 'Administrator' and check.
You might also want to check by launching it in 'compatibility mode' and see.
In case you still face issues, try resetting Captivate preferences and then check by launching the application.
To reset the preferences, please follow the steps below :
Close Adobe Captivate.
Locate the preference folder:
Windows Vista and Windows 7: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 7 folder
Rename the Captivate folder.
Restart Adobe Captivate. A new folder is automatically created.
