  • HT1751 Just installed itunes on my new computer.  My music is on an external drive.  How do i get newly installed itunes on new computer to recognize the music on the external drive?

I just got a new PC, thank goodness.  All my music is on an external drive (F).  i installed Itunes on my new computer.  Now want to get itunes to recognize all the music on my external drive.  Don't want to put music on new computer, but keep on external drive.  Can anyone help me - thanks

Was the media solely on the external library?  If so, it is likely that iTunes was started at some point with the external drive unaccessible.  Simply point iTunes to the correct library location.  To do this, close iTunes.  Hold <SHIFT> and launch iTunes.  When prompted to find library or create a new one, select the find option and point iTunes to where the iTuneslibrary.itl file is at on your computer (or external drive).

  • I just installed iTunes on my new computer and transferred  all my files, but now every song has a duplicate

Hi everyone. CAn someone help me wiht this problem? I recently bought a new Windows 8 machine and transferred all my music onto the new computer. When I installed iTunes and loaded all of my music, every song title has been duplicated.  When you click on the first title, iTunes tells you it can't find the file. The second title will play.  Is there some easy way to fix this problem without manually deleting all of the duplicate titles?

  • Re-install PSE12 on a new computer

    Hi everybody,
I've recently bought PSE12. It is installed on both my computer at home and on my laptop.
If I change one of my computer how can I do to re-install it?
    Thanks for your reply.

You are permitted two activations. Simply deactivate on one machine and then you are ready to install and activate on a new machine. There is no need to uninstall; to deactivate simply sign-out using the help menu in Expert mode. As you can see it’s possible to have PSE12 installed on three machines, provided only two are signed-in as active.

Did you read the first sentence of his post? The songs were deleted from the iPod when he connected to an empty iTunes library.
    harvarddude,
There are no options other than to try some 3rd party data recovery software for the iPod as mentioned in this post.

Of course, if you have all these songs/videos on another computer, then it's simply a matter of reloading them from there.
Btw, if you are going to use the iPod with more than one computer on a regular basis, here's how.

I just got a new computer. I need to install CS6 to my new computer but don't have my serial number and my old computer will not download and install crative cloud!   HELP!!!!!!!

In this complicated case, I think it's important that you get your work in.
The Photography Plan includes Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC. Open an account with them and for $10 a month you can be back in business which I think nets you more than $10. It's what I do. You can do this immediately. You get two seats and they can be either Mac or PC.
In your spare time you can sort out the license issue and cancel the plan later on if this is fixed.
If you don't want to go there, then you will have to call Customer Service by phone and hope they can fix this.

  • I want to get my book marks on a new computer I just bought. Where are they on my old one so I can burn them on a cd then install them on my new computer

I want to know where the bookmarks are on my old computer so I can burn a cd and install them on my new computer

A flash drive, or your external drive that you use to backup all your data would work better. With a CD you have to be careful of what utilities that you use to do the copying with or you end up with read-only (write protected) files.
Also I think you would much prefer to copy your entire profile over than just your bookmarks.
On your old and your new computers you can find your profile through about:support typed into the location bar (or Help > Troubleshooting information...) and then click on the "Open Containing folder". With Firefox down, you would simply copy your profile to external device, then on new system remove the content in your (Firefox) profile and replace it with the contend from the old computer -- also with Firefox down.
You might consider copying a lot of your ''' c:\users\ ''' folders over selectively then your email and other applications user data on your machine, would be copied. Having two working machines is a lot easier to work with than an old backup or no backup. You can
even connect the two machines through wi-fi and copy data.

Ipod Mini   Windows XP   Lap Top

    Hello Miz C,
As I said in answer to your other post, pressing "Yes" when iTunes brings up the dialogue window asking whether you want to replace the songs on your iPod with the songs in iTunes does exactly what it says. If you linked to an empty iTunes or one with only a few or completely different songs it will have erased your original iPod song list. Unless you have the original PC to connect back to the songs you had are gone. You could check out what data recovery programs are on offer but I have no experience of any to fully recommend.

  • Cannot install CS3 on my new computer

hi, i cannot install CS3 on my new computer due to the fact that i did not deactivate is on my old laptop. to which i dont have acces any more.. can anyone help finding a solution?

Have you tried installing it or are you just assuming you cannot.  You are normally allowed to install and activate on two machines.
You will need to contact Adobe support thru chat in order to get assistance with deactivating the inaccessible installation.  For the link below click the Still Need Help? option in the blue area at the bottom and choose the chat option...

  • Can't add itunes library to my ipod etc since installing itunes on my new computer. HELP!

I have just installed itunes on my new PC and am trying to add some songs onto an ipod.  The songs were purchases from the Itunes store.  I go through the process of drag and drop onto the device (its the same with my ipad and iphone) but it won't work.  Since installing itunes on my new computer I have bought an album off itunes and it downloaded with no problems - but any of my old purchases won't transfer over.  Not sure what I am doing wrong.  I haven't as yet transferred over my music libray from my old PC (songs that I burnt )  so not sure if it would be the same.  I would have thought that songs that have been purchased in itunes should easily transfer.  Help please?

Move the files for your new purchases out to the desktop.
Migrate your library properly from your old computer as given below.
Move the files stored on the desktop into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder.
    Migrate iTunes Library
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • Installing CS5 on my new computer

I have just replaced my computer with CS5 installed with a new computer (Win 7).  How do I install CS5 on my new computer using the existing license I have?

You will want to install the software from your installation media.  Do you no longer have access to your DVDs or did you originally purchase a download?  If you choose the download option then the software should be under your account.  You can find details on how to download the software from your account at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1006208?tstart=0&promoid=KBHJQ.

  • How do I transfer (re-install) licensed CS2, to new computer

I have licensed copies of CS2, Adobe Acrobat Distiller 8, Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 and Photoshop Album 2.0 on an old computer that is being replaced with a new Intel machine. I hope to transfer or re-install my Adobe software onto my new computer without issue, but I am not familiar with procedure to accomplish this. Perhaps it can just be installed as licensed as before. The old computer is going to a grandson and I want to erase and re-format the hard drive, but not until I am sure my production software is working. Suggestions sincerely requested on how to do this.

On the assumption you have backed up your music to an external hard drive, just connect that to the new computer and copy stuff over.
If you are on a MAC and the old machine is not dead then you can hook the two up and copy over.
And I daresay you can do the same if you have a PC and the original is not dead.
